When I started writing firearms-related articles in the early 1990's you didn't need to spend time telling the story of the Browning Hi-Power, AKA the P35. The majority of gun people already knew it. Now, thirty years or so later — wow, have I been writing that long? — we have an entire generation, maybe two, who weren't raised on the old WWII or Cold War guns. Some of those people confuse the term Hi-Power with Hi-Point. About a year ago, my friend Nicholas Orr wrote a book discussing the historical significance of many small arms used during the last century and a half; A Pipe Hitters Guide to Small Arms & Weapons. With Mr. Orr's permission, I've pulled an excerpt from that book.  (Click Here for Full Article)   From www.lawenforcementtoday.com: Sometimes it takes a good guy with a gun to take out someone intent on doing people harm. Such is the case in Las Vegas where a Good Samaritan did just that, likely preventing a man from killing a number of people.  Las Vegas Metro police said that a man, who was not identified, showed up for his job with a home remodeling firm and was declared "unfit" to work. He was subsequently fired by his employer. That led the man to go on an unhinged rampage, with him getting into his SUV and driving recklessly down the street, RVM News reported. Some residents who were out on the streets and sidewalks had to dive out of harm's way.  One resident told reporters about the incident.  “He was trying to hit somebody, and it was either going to be me or the kid or whoever's standing in that road,” said Richard Osayna.  However, the incident was not without victims. Two men were struck by the suspect's SUV, including his now-former boss, with the incident happening in Osayna's driveway. (Click Here for Full Article)

94. John Jay Wiley: Host of Law Enforcement Talk Radio & Podcast Shares his Trauma Story

Sexual Assault Survivor Stories

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 16, 2024 44:22

John Jay Wiley is a retired police officer (Baltimore Police Department) who is now the founder and host of Law Enforcement Talk Radio & Podcast…both a radio show and a podcast. I had the honor of being a guest on LET Radio in an episode that was aired on 09 June 2024. You can listen to that episode It was quite the experience, and I appreciate John Jay for allowing me the privilege of being on his show. It was also an honor to do a turn-around invitation for him to be on SASS…and he graciously agreed to be here! In this episode, John Jay showed his strength and fortitude in his willingness to tell a great deal about his own trauma story. That is something that he doesn't often do; he even stated that for him to be open about his trauma, the listener must “earn the right,” because for him to make himself available and vulnerable isn't easy for him. Isn't that the way it is for most of us who suffer the effects of trauma?...don't we all, to some degree, hold something back, as John Jay says, in order to protect ourselves? It's part of that healing journey…we must weigh the costs and benefits of talking about something so personal and painful. But ultimately, it almost always leads us further down the healing path. John Jay recognizes this, and it's why he was willing to be on the show; that, and his desire for us to be mutually helpful to each other as recognition of our shared mission. We both benefitted from being on each other's podcasts. As I reflect on our discussion, I feel that one of the most important aspects of this conversation was John Jay's deep understanding of how impactful his trauma is on who he is today. He emphasized that to heal, whether from being shot, robbed, injured in a car accident, or sexually assaulted, we must reach the point where we realize that we, ourselves, are responsible for what we do moving forward. It's the “aha moment,” as he puts it, when we reach the point where we grasp that if we want something good to come from our trauma, we have to put in the work. When we do, the “good stuff” starts happening in our lives. John Jay is powerful in his delivery of the wisdom that he has acquired through his own healing journey. This is a powerful listen; I hope you put in the time to do so. And then…share this episode with everyone you know. Additionally, subscribe to John Jay's show!…it's the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show & Podcast…found wherever you listen to podcasts. And while you're at it, hit the subscribe button on this show, too! We both thank you!! Thank you for being a Sexual Assault Survivor Stories Podcast listener, and don't forget to Start by Believing…because we all know someone whose life has been impacted by rape or sexual assault. From the Law Enforcement Talk Radio website (): John J Wiley Radio Show Host and Producer Retired from the Baltimore Police Department at the rank of Sergeant. He was retired early due a permanent line of duty injury that occurred during an act of violence. The injury resulted in 3 surgeries, two steel plates and a fusion of his right wrist and thumb. About 8 years after retiring from police work, he began a career in the audio broadcasting space. Starting with "audio-blogs" in 1999. Which progressed into a brokered once a week radio show and then led to broadcasting school. After graduating he has been a full time FM radio personality and launched the Law Enforcement Today Show as a podcast in March of 2017. This was in a partnership with Law Enforcement Today's Robert Greenberg. The show was quickly recruited by radio and is a nationally syndicated radio show, broadcasting weekly on many US Radio Stations to millions of people. The partnership with them ended in the Summer of 2023 and the show was renamed the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. The radio show is syndicated by Talk Media Network. Go to the Radio Page of the site for more information. Here are the links you can use to find John Jay's show, my LET Radio episode, and other links that I hope you'll check out and recognize their importance in helping provide justice to victims and survivors of rape and sexual assault.

Twitter knew Democrats were lying all through RussiaGate and #ReleasetheMemo

The Alan Sanders Show

Today we dissect the most recent dump from The Twitter Files, focusing on how Twitter knew Democrats were lying about Russian bots and the RussiaGate hoax, but went along with it anyway. It's sad that it takes so long for the truth to avail itself to the masses. Many of us realized within a few months, the Russia collusion story was a hoax. Even after the Mueller investigation found nothing, people still kept running stories about it. Then Congressman Devin Nunes wrote a memo detailing all of the malfeasance and impropriety surrounding the story and was laughed at by the Legacy/mainstream media. Fast forward from January 2018, when Nunes wrote his memo to just last week when journalist Matt Taibbi released a thread of tweets illustrating the con-game that took place among the FBI, high-ranking members of the House and Senate and Big Tech. Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Representative Adam Schiff “for Brains” (D-CA) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-NY) all sent in memos filled with accusations of Russian bots and Russia-owned accounts spreading lies about the Russia investigation. But, no matter how much Twitter investigated, they could not find any evidence. That didn't stop those representative from leaking their concerns to the all-too-willing sycophantic media, who ran with the stories without once bother to fact-check. As it turns out, nearly two years later, in December of 2021, Inspector General Michael Horowitz scaled the FBI and vindicated every point Devin Nunes had made in his original memo. By that point, however, most people had assumed the Russian story as true and never bothered to learn the truth. Taibbi also points to a system many of these Democrats used as their sole source for their Russian allegations, a dashboard called Hamilton 68, which was designed by a former FBI counterintelligence agent on behalf of the Alliance for Securing Democracy. Even executives in Twitter mocked this sole source, knowing they did not have the same metrics available to them as Twitter had internally. While some may say the FBI was still acting in good faith and should be trusted because they are all honorable and above reproach, let me give you a headline from Law Enforcement Today, “In bombshell report, FBI admits using the CIA, (NSA) to essentially spy on American citizens without a warrant.” There is a reason the Bill of Rights was crafted to go along with the US Constitution and it was to prevent our government from becoming an Authoritarian dictatorship, circumventing the rules and using it's power to go after it's political opposition. That's not what it is to be an American and none of us should stand for it. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Have you ever thought about what it would take to have a radio show? Join Jules & Corinna as they connect with John "Jay" Wiley, host and producer of Law Enforcement Today and the Law Enforcement Today Podcast Network. You'll learn how he moved from hosting a podcast that was coupled with a thriving Facebook group to terrestrial radio in his first 10 episodes. What is terrestrial radio, you might ask? You know, spaces you tune in "on the dial" on AM/FM -- and these days some even lump "terrestrial" and "satellite" together in one pot (satellite = Sirius XM). You'll discover how John "Jay" Wiley is even connected to Oprah, and hear his thoughts on what it takes to truly "make it" in broadcast media like podcasting, radio, YouTube and beyond. You'll also get a "tease" of a new podcast that Jules & Corinna are launching on 4/22/22! About Our Guest: Introducing John “Jay” Wiley... His friends call him Jay (and that means you can too). While people like to use terms like radio personality, or broadcaster, he prefers the old school terminology of DJ. Prior to starting his career in radio he was a member of the Baltimore Police Department. As an officer he worked in the Northwest District of Baltimore in Patrol, Operations, and Plainclothes Drug Enforcement Unit. He was detailed to the DEA Task Force in the Baltimore Office for more than a year investigating drug distribution gangs in the Baltimore/Washington area. He was promoted to sergeant at which time he was assigned to the Central District and then the Northwest District. His career in the Baltimore Police Department was cut short by a disastrous line of duty hand injury. Sadly, after multiple surgeries, he was retired, and then successfully pivoted to the world of broadcast / terrestrial radio (and now podcasting). Jay is the host and producer of the Law Enforcement Today Podcast, with new episodes out each Monday. 00:00 Introductions & What to expect in today's episode (including a surprise "tease" or two)08:30 Meet John J.
