Spotlighting a community of women, ages 50 and over, displaying that we are more alike than different, and that age doesn't define us, but rather, it's our character, vitality, intellectual aspirations, values, and genuineness that does. Listen in on discussions among friends, associates, and other guest as we talk about personal growth, sex, being a" part of the village," trying new adventures, music, dating, and more. Putting the world on notice that we've got this next half with beauty, style, grace and a sprinkle of spice with that sugar, because ladies we are still in the game!
How it all started. When I was a little girl, I don't recall hearing my mom or dad, talk about doctor's appointments or scheduling a doctor's visit. My first memory of seeing a doctor myself was at the age of 10 and I also remember becoming curious about weight loss too around that time. So many memories. Thinking of my family's diet and exercise plans back then, realizing neither existed, but what did exist was family members perishing way too soon of poor health or disease. It's never too late. Even now we have the power to make change. To be well and teach daughters, grandchildren and inspire others to want to live healthier, to be their best. Happy Women's History Month! From then to now. On November 17, 2020, I wrote this poem inspired by the election in which the first woman of color, a Black Women, was elected, Vice President of the United States. Fast forward, four years later, I share this poem in this brief podcast message, sharing the words I felt factually and colorfully describing us, Black Women. Despite the negative reactions and acknowledgements conveyed by overwhelming votes against Kamala Harris, Madame Vice President in this year's election—What I know in my soul and from our rich history of Black Women leaders and pioneers, we were and still are magnificent and wonderfully made. Each generation has raised the bar sharing our gifts and talents to the world and there is nothing anyone says that will brainwash us into believing otherwise. Today we are not okay, but because of our resilience, tomorrow and each day after we work towards getting there. God is my Lord and the God I serve loves us all and sees no difference in any of us. No one is greater or less. Love and gratitude to you my beautiful Black Queens! I see that Belgium has checked in over the weekend. Thanks for listing to my show! Stay tuned for my annoucement offering a free class to women in the Baltimore City Community. A dance of healing. I purchased a copy of Chakra Affirmations Harnessing The Power Within, written by Author: Kay Marlene, several weeks before my 60th birthdate. One of my practices leading up to this magnificent new year was to intentionally get on my knees to pray when I rise and before going to bed. It was supposed to be a 30-day practice, however, it did not end and is now a daily routine. I feel great getting my day started with prayer and ending it in the same fashion. I continue to grow still, at this point of my life, enjoying new beginnings, and pleased about overcoming obstacles and loving the tools I have learned throughout my journey thus far, that keep my mind fresh, and my body nourished and agile. Chakra Affirmations is a great extension of my practices and beliefs and as you listen, you will concur that I was definitely in agreement with Kay Marlene by my constant um hum's lol Kay Marlene is a down to earth soul who enjoys nature and implementing natural and holistic concepts, which had her producing fresh juice during the 2019 Pandemic, for sale. She is always comimg up with innovative ideas and also expoloring partnerships with like-minded creatives. Kay Marlene is also the creator and owner of Colour Strokes, a paint and sip event service. Established in 2014. A fun fact about the author is that she is also my daughter. Proud mom. Big sister decided to do something different for her 62nd birthdate. The lady lioness born on the first day of August, invited a few people to join her in an adventure as she reminded us that we are "Toys R Us," Kids as we set off for a Road Trip to a neighboring village where an amusement park and other cool attractions were nearby, and of course we brought along plenty of wine. We shared a little about our adventure in a short but funny taping in which neither my sister Consetta nor her bestie Linda wanted to appear [a little camera shy], but they surprised me and jumped on board. Finally able to download this video! I was in the travel business for a moment assessing the waters. One evening I decided to research a few Islands for a girls get away trip. Exactly three years ago, during the height of the pandemic, on New Year's Eve, during a planned FaceBook Live, I announced my podcast to my family and friends! My son-in-law deejayed and my oldest daughter and I wore a gown for the occasion, a shut-in- NYE party. Now at the top of my third year, the year preceeding this one was a period of major shift. I am incredibly thankful to all my guests over the years, who trusted me enough to share my plateform, engaging in topics of their expertise, and or interest. I am honored to name them all, along with over 20 countries that are streaming too. When I turned 59 this year, during this annual reflection period of my life, this time walking the sands in Aruba at sunrise, God is magnificent were among my thoughts, but also I though, what new and exciting thing will I do in the final year of my 50's? Friendships matters at any age, from kindergarten to present, I remember and acknowledge those who were and are still or currently good friends to me, from then to now. A common bond is the foundation, trust is earned and necessary for a true friendship. Hopefully we evolve through our connections, but sometimes as a result we have to leave some friendships behind when they don't . We grow we learn and we thirst for new and exciting ventures and a circle of support who cheers for us not secretly despise us for unknow reasons. When this happens no matter how much you care about the friendship you have to save yourself from the mental demise, just like any relationship you evaluate it and if it's not working move on, and on the good note be sure to be thankful and show appreciation to your true friends. Sometimes the Universe; God will send us a message in an unconventional way. I had this AHA moment while watching a movie that was full of profound statements. It was like a cleansing, I cried about 1000 times. The one assertion that caused me to pause and reflect was about opportunities and how they shape the trajectory of our lives whether we take the opportunity or not. Simultaneously, coming to the realization that now, at this stage of my life, whichever I choose, I stand firm in my decision and no longer second guess my response, or the outcome of my decision to accept or decline a moment in time, an event. Get ready, because not just my chances, but your opportunities have not ceased either, on the contrary they have multiplied. Behold and get ready to take your picks! I am pleased and excited to present my first visual podcast during Women's History Month! Dancing is my favorite exercise, but dancing with a hula hoop is a close second for sure. I have been hula hooping just over two years now. Yup, I am a late bloomer and I feel like a child [but not childish], free as a bird and light as air when I'm swinging my hips, caressed by my circular tube, and moving to awesome afro beats. It's been a moment since I've had someone join me for a chat, but so fitting for the occasion, [my first video show and Women's History Month]. This is why I'm kicking off my first perceptible podcast with a guest. There are so many great and beautiful women in our community, and as I said before, we are more alike than different as I discovered during this show. It was an absolute pleasure to have Evelyn; Eve of the Universe-POWERHOOP FITNESS LLC, Certified Personal Trainer, Master Weighted Hula Hoop Instructor, Certified Weight Management Spec, PYRO Hooper, Certified Nutrition Specialist, and Traditional Workouts, and Boot Camp Instructor as my first live guest! We discuss her creative, high vibration, hula hoop fitness business and what makes her stand out amongst others. Eve is truly on an entire different level, which I've only encountered one other dynamic, gifted woman like her in this craft; Denise Williams. Oh and of course we talk about how she stays fit and fabulous too. Thanks for listening, sharing, liking and subscribing to my podcasts! Wellness is not only relevant to good health, but it's synonymous. Today, wellness clubs have become a phenomenon as new health spas spring up in the DMV area. At the top of the year, I checked out a social wellness club in Alexandria, Balian Springs Social Wellness Club. We all have purpose. Sometimes we think we know exactly what that is,and most times we are correct. Other times we may miss the mark, but regardless in due season when it's your time I believe your purpose is revealed. A long time ago in my twenties I had thoughts of being a flight attendant. No action behind it because soon after I was married with a second child on the way and there was no way that would happen. Decades later conversations would take place to bring me back to this conversation of being in the Travel Industry, then I was approached on Facebook about an opportunity. In the early days of my podcast existence, more than a year ago, I did a show on dating and sex over 50. Joining me for that show were two female friends; one who had an experienced active dating resume and the other had not been on a date in years, while myself was six months out of a relationship and starting to mingle again. This show is a follow up, but with more focus and understanding on the purpose of dating and the importance of building relations from a social wellness and self care perspective. It is my opinion that relationships regardless of its roles should be based on reciprocal needs, and I believe that communication, respect, trust, interest, and pleasure is the core. In this episode I speak about my current experiences and personal views regarding my active dating life and the importance of the interview stage and why our connections should have a substantial impact on our growth and learning, not just about someone else but we should learn something about ourselves from each encounter too. I have been dieting since I was 21-years-old. I learned a lot during this period. I began to live a healthy lifestyle, it wasn't always easy, I faced challenges along the way. I've experienced it all, weight up, weight down, you know, that "yo yo affect, but over the past six years I've had more consistency than ever. Making living a healthy lifestyle more enjoyable, adventurist, and fun. Yet still the abdominal area is and always seem to be the toughest body part to whip into submission. Ladies you are a prized possession and I want you to remind you to protect your crown queens. I am going in a different direction with this episode. The subject is taboo, In fact the information that I'm sharing puts me in a vulnerable position. But, when the light revealed the truth it was a matter of time before my conscience revealed that I had to share this, that I could no longer be silent about my unexplainable encounters, and my research that made it make since. And in this season God revealed that I would use my platform, my podcast to share my story to speak out not just for myself, but for others like me who may have felt confused, embarrassed, or ashamed, and humiliated, maybe even frightened to speak out. The attacker though very little of us, thought that we were idiots, God only know what happened during the period that I was under the influence of Rohypnol, based on its description and effects this is the type of drug that was used, that was deceitfully given to me without my knowledge or consent. I know longer care about what others may think of me, I don't care about being judged for my choices, my mistakes. I only care about sharing my story to enlighten and educate others, in hopes of saving someone from a situation that they may not be strong enough to handle. I thank God for the strength he gives me, I thank God for covering me, his covenant, I thank God for his protection, grace, mercy, wisdom and the gift of discernment that I will never second guess again. This is my story about deceitfully being given a date rape drug. I sincerely hope that this will help you or someone that you love or care about. it had been a very long time since I strapped up the skates and hit the wood. in fact more that 25-years! I was invited to attend an awards program. involving one of my grandson's. So, of course I went , and I decided at the last minute that I would skate. My family and I enjoyed ourselves as we joined my youngest grandson; Harlem and his football teammates and the cheerleader celebrate and get their awards. Bowling and skating was the children's reward for their dedication to the sport. I said I would never skate again after an accident on the wood years ago, but I put the skates on, press play and find out what happened that evening. Did I stay on the carpet, did I ever actually get on the wood, and more importantly did I fall? Also a quick rap up on the numbers for the year, my journey as a podcaster, and for sure give thanks to the all mighty God for this adventure. Increase, abundance, increase, abundance is my prayer. I planned a date for myself. After watching Mary J. Blige's documentary, I decided to go see her, one of my favorite artist at a local arena. I probably have her entire CD Collection, but I'd never seen Mary perform live. It was an honor and privilege to date me. As it should be. I enjoyed myself immensely from preparing a yummy dinner for one, to the style of clothes and hairstyle I decided to rock, and of course the main attraction of party to the tunes of Mary with Mary! Press play and I'll tell you how it all went down, not missing any of the highlights. Be sure to like, share and subscribe to this growing podcast. This episode is about a light that didn't always shine, but arose from a dark place to better health and wellness than ever before. A discussion about that time when I was in bondage. I'm a very private person, who never thought I would tell this story publicly or at all. It's been my secret for many years. An addiction of a concealed lifestyle, I once lived. I knew I deserved better. I knew that I had to break free of a lifestyle that didn't reflect the me that became buried in the dust. We are all sinners. Am I still a sinner? Yes, however, no longer bound to those past atrocities. I now have a clear mind, purpose and living a fulfilling life no longer trapped in an empty bottomless, mindless whole that simply robbed me of time that would have been better served taking care of myself, setting goals and acting on them. Here is my message from demise to wellness. I truly have learned to put myself first and if that seems cynical to some it's okay. Never make excuses for loving you and being true to yourself and your beliefs. Never forget that no matter what you may face in life, whatever challenges may arise to alway love you and know that you are priority and you are a winner. we deserve happiness, and peace within. Don't wait to be loved, It's important to begin loving you first. You are enough. May your light shine brightly. I love you with all the light in me. Be well, and as always enjoy the special moments, and enjoy life with less regret. It has been an interesting year as the world comes to order under the newness of life. I reflect on all that God has blessed me to experience, accomplish and conquer. Through it all seeing people for who they are be it beautiful strangers in a dance, letting go of relationships that are toxic, or working on a new vision that serves a community whose needs are least valued. It is days before my new year begins, [my birthdate]and I am absolutely looking forward to all the positive encounters, beautiful souls, intentional actions, in this new chapter where awesome blessings that I never even imaged awaits. Manifestation is real, so is faith so I speak these things over my life as it already is done. My Happy New Year begins on October 5th and I am excited! ♎️

Join me for a fascinating conversation about the holistic and entertaining realm of hula hoop. A new fitness love of mine. Hula Hoops are no longer just for the kids. in fact, the contrary. There is a community of adults like myself who enjoy hoops anywhere be it indoors or outdoors. We don't mind showing our hip motions. It was a pleasure to meet and learn from Denise E. Williams, a Master Hooptress, Wellness Counselor, and Healing Touch Certified Practitioner who resides in Chicago Illinois, She invented an original movement class called "Holistic Hoop," and incorporates her professional dance experience, along with music and colorful costumes as she tap dances to music from the 1940's. Denise is the epitome of "50's the better half," and shows and tells the world how relevant we still are in this beautiful chapter of life during our discussion.
