Everyone talks about AI as the future of work. But what if the bigger story is something we're overlooking? In this episode, JR speaks with leadership strategist and author Dan Pontefract about why experience—not youth—may become one of the most valuable assets in tomorrow's workplace. As workforces age and labor shortages grow, Dan argues that organizations must rethink how they hire, develop, and retain talent—or risk losing decades of knowledge and expertise. In this episode, you'll learn:Why demographic change may have a bigger impact on work than AIWhat "age debt" is—and why organizations aren't prepared for itHow ageism affects professionals at every stage of their careersWhy traditional generational labels may be doing more harm than goodDan's "Rivers, Rocks, and Rubies" framework for understanding career growthHow organizations can turn experience into a competitive advantage instead of treating it as a costWhat professionals can do to build careers that remain relevant and rewarding for decadesWhether you're just starting your career, leading a team, or thinking about what's next in your 50s, 60s, and beyond, this conversation will challenge many of the assumptions we've long held about work, careers, and retirement. You'll come away with a new perspective on why experience may be one of the greatest advantages you can build—and why the organizations that recognize its value will be the ones best positioned to succeed in the years ahead.Check out the full series of “Career Sessions, Career Lessons” podcasts here or visit pathwise.io/podcast/. Take charge of your future. Our next group proram starts in September and is limited to 10 people. The Very Early Registration discount (45%) ends on June 21. Learn more here. — Dan Pontefract spent two decades building leadership, culture, and engagement inside high-tech and telecom organizations, and never once thought seriously about age. Then, in his early fifties, he had a wake-up call. It sent him to look under a rock he'd never lifted, where he found “an absolute cavern of issues.” The result is his sixth book, The Future is Grey: The Untapped Value of Age in the Workforce. Dan lays out the coming “bell to bulb” demographic inversion and the risks for organizations ignoring it. For individuals, he reframes the whole arc of a working life, from the language of generations (which he rejects as an ageist cognitive bias) to three universal career eras: Rivers, Rocks, and Rubies. That demographic inversion means experience will become more scarce and valuable. The through-line is don’t retire,  rewire instead. He shares stories of people who kept working or returned to work in a different way, which brings his concept of the “experience dividend” to life. ________________________ Bio Dan Pontefract is a renowned leadership and culture strategist, author, and keynote speaker with over two decades of experience in senior executive roles at companies such as SAP, TELUS, and Business Objects. The Aging Workforce Crisis Leaders Can't Afford to Ignore with Dan Pontefract

The workforce is aging faster than at any point in human history, and most organizations are responding by quietly writing off the very people who hold their hardest-won knowledge. Dan Pontefract calls the cost of that denial AgeDebt, and he believes it's building toward a crisis as slow-moving and as expensive to ignore as climate change. In this conversation, Dan Pontefract joins Charles Good to make the case that age is an asset, not a liability, and that the organizations willing to act now can convert their Age Debt into what he calls the Experience Dividend.Drawing on his new book The Future of Work Is Grey: The Untapped Value of Age in the Workforce, Dan throws out the tired generational labels (Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z) and replaces them with a more useful lens: Rivers(early-career, curious, fluid), Rocks (mid-career, resilient, the bridge generation), and Rubies (later-career, wisdom polished by time). His argument is both a wake-up call and a blueprint: the future of work is grey if leaders stay stuck in habitual patterns, but it can be gold if they learn to put Rivers,Rocks and Rubies on stage together.Whether you see yourself as a River, a Rock, or a Ruby today, this episode will give you a new language for one of the most overlooked sources of value in any organization, along with the everyday habits to start building it tomorrow. What You'll Learn in This EpisodeWhat "Age Debt" actually is, and why Dan compares it to climate change: a slow-moving crisis leaders have had the data on for decades, where the cost of doing nothing compounds quietly until it's enormous to fixThe Rivers, Rocks, and Rubies framework - three career-stage archetypes that replace birth-year labels, and why Dan says generational branding is actively harmful to good decision-makingWhy ageism is "the last socially acceptable -ism": the comments and assumptions about age that still pass unchallenged when equivalent remarks about race or gender never wouldHow ageism hits all three groups - Rivers dismissed as "not ready," Rocks written off as "stuck," Rubies treated as "expired" and Dan's own experience of being seen as both "too young" and "too old"The grey-to-gold mindset shift - what keeps organizations stuck in habitual patterns, and what changes when leaders stop fighting experience and start designing around itThe Experience Dividend - the measurable value of integrating insight, mentorship, and continuity across every age in your workforceEveryday Age — the small, repeatable habits any leader can start tomorrow to move from age-aware to age-savvy, no corporate program requiredAbout Dan PontefractDan Pontefract is a leadership strategist, keynote speaker, and author of several influential books on work, culture, and leadership, including Lead. (This podcast was previously published on June 17, 2021)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...   As born again Christians, we have access to wisdom from God.  This makes all the difference for those of us who understand this and call on God for HIS wisdom in the issues of this present life.   Proverbs 3   13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.   14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.   15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.   16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.   17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.   18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.   Nothing equals wisdom that comes to us from God by HIS Spirit!   James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.   Psalm 111:10   The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do HIS commandments: HIS praise endureth for ever.

It becomes a broader conversation about why collectors who hold conviction often win long after the market moves on.From there, the episode expands into Prizm Iron Men and why checklist longevity matters more than surface-level accolades. They debate who truly deserves the title of King of Prizm and what sustained relevance across product cycles actually signals. They close by breaking down recent market sales across Prizm, Flawless, Rubies, and Superfractors, touching on record defensive card sales, undervalued legends like Marshall Faulk, modern bets like Caleb Williams, and why collecting with belief beats collecting with consensus every time.Check out Card Ladder the official data partner of Stacking SlabsFollow The Football Card Podcast on Instagram for memes and stuff.Get your free copy of Collecting For Keeps: Finding Meaning In A Hobby Built On HypeGet exclusive content, promote your cards, and connect with other collectors who listen to the pod today by joining the Patreon: Join Stacking Slabs Podcast Patreon[Distributed on Sunday] Sign up for the Stacking Slabs Weekly Rip Newsletter using this linkFollow Stacking Slabs: | Twitter | Instagram | Facebook | TiktokFollow Pack: | Instagram ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Old Testament Scriptures About ModestyGenesis 3:21"The Lord God made tunics of [animal] skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them."Exodus 28:2-3"Make sacred garments for Aaron that are glorious and beautiful. Instruct all the skilled craftsmen whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom. Have them make garments for Aaron that will distinguish him as a priest set apart for my service."Exodus 20:26"And do not approach my altar by going up steps. If you do, someone might look up under your clothing and see your nakedness."Jeremiah 13:22"And if you [wonder] in your heart, "Why have these things happened to me?" It is because of the greatness and nature of your sin that your skirts have been pulled away [subjecting you to public disgrace] and [like a barefoot slave] your heels have been wounded." Once again we see in this scripture that nakedness and having skirts removed is a sign of public disgrace. In the OT, we learn that nakedness being exposed is judgment for disobedience and not a fashion style. Isaiah 47:3"Men will see your naked body and use you for sex."This is one of the judgments for the nation of Babylon in the Old Testament. It's similar to Genesis 3:21 about God giving Adam and Eve clothes after sin entered the world. Our naked bodies can no longer be treated with innocence and respect. Proverbs 31:22b"Her clothing is linen, pure and fine, and purple [wool]."The Proverbs 31 woman dressed in splendid clothing. It's not just the material, but the spiritual implication of this scripture. Pure and fine linen means she dressed with purity, which is mentioned in Revelations 3:5 as the garments believers wear when they overcome the world. Proverbs 7:10"And there a woman met him dressed as a prostitute and sly and cunning of heart."How do prostitutes dress? Revealing and appetizing to attract their customers. Any clothing that has this effect is not fit for a woman or man of God.New Testament Scriptures About Modesty1 Timothy 2:9"And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes."1 Peter 3:3-4"It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you—the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear. It is worth very much to God."Galatians 5:19"Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control),"Romans 12:1-2"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."1 Corinthians 6:19-20"You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you. You don't own yourselves. God paid a very high price to make you His. So honor God with your body."Romans 13:13-14"Let us conduct ourselves properly and honorably as in the [light of] day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility, not in quarreling and jealousy. But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires."Revelation 3:5"He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God] will accordingly be dressed in white clothing, and I will never blot out his name from the Book of Life, and I will confess and openly acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels [saying that he is one of Mine]."

In this episode, Mitch explains how they select the best Merinos for breeding, the importance of good breeding values and genetics, and how better benchmarking has led to better genetic decisions in their seed stock. Bible Reading: Matthew 6:19-21; 1 Peter 1:3-9"Twelve paces from the grain bin, face the wall made of tin." Madison read the clue aloud as Sophie carried two garden trowels. Together the sisters headed for the grain bin to find Grandpa's next clue. That morning, Grandpa had surprised the girls with a game--clues that would lead them to a treasure. He handed them the first clue after breakfast and the girls had been all around the farm, tracking down clues. Finally, in a little wood, the last one was found. Time to dig! Eyes shining, Madison and Sophie shoveled fresh dirt aside and made guesses about what Grandpa might have hidden."Pirates' gold!" said Madison. "Teddy bears!" said Sophie. They unearthed a sturdy cardboard box. Madison pulled off the top to reveal another note, this one covered in crumbs. My dear girls, this cake was too delicious to bury. Please forgive me for eating it. Love, Grandpa. Sophie tossed her trowel on the ground angrily, but Madison reassured her. "You know Grandpa. He didn't eat the cake, at least not all of it. He's only teasing."Suddenly they heard Grandpa's voice calling them from the porch. Sophie took off running with Madison close behind. On the porch table, a feast was laid: chocolate cake, milk, and oranges. And Grandpa was there, chuckling at his own joke."I knew you would have treasure for us!" Madison said. "But Sophie was mad when she saw that empty box."Grandpa got up and hugged Sophie close. "I was just teasing you," he said. "But I also wanted that box to be a picture for you, a way to see that the treasures of this life are never truly safe. Whatever we value here on earth can be destroyed or lost.""Or eaten!" added Sophie.Grandpa laughed. "Right. But because you trust in Jesus, your greatest treasure is no longer here on earth. It is kept safe in heaven by God Himself, and no one can take it away.""What is it?" Sophie asked. "Rubies?""Something more precious than jewels. God keeps our salvation safe--the promise that our sins have been forgiven and we'll spend eternity with Him. You are His child, and no one can take you out of His hand." –Lisa NagelHow About You?Have you ever valued something that was lost, damaged, or taken away? A bike? A favorite stuffed animal? Maybe even good grades? The things we treasure on earth don't last. Only God remains forever, and us with Him if we trust in Jesus and believe He died and rose again to save us from sin. He promises His children an inheritance in heaven that can never be lost or taken away.Today's Key Verse:We have a priceless inheritance…that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
