+ Evangelio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo según san Mateo 14, 22-36  Después que se sació la multitud, Jesús obligó a los discípulos que subieran a la barca y pasaran antes que él a la otra orilla, mientras él despedía a la multitud. Después, subió a la montaña para orar a solas. Y al atardecer, todavía estaba allí, solo.  La barca ya estaba muy lejos de la costa, sacudida por las olas, porque tenían viento en contra. A la madrugada, Jesús fue hacia ellos, caminando sobre el mar. Los discípulos, al verlo caminar sobre el mar, se asustaron. «Es un fantasma», dijeron, y llenos de temor se pusieron a gritar.  Pero Jesús les dijo: «Tranquilícense, soy yo; no teman».  Entonces Pedro le respondió: «Señor, si eres tú, mándame ir a tu encuentro sobre el agua.»  «Ven», le dijo Jesús. Y Pedro, bajando de la barca, comenzó a caminar sobre el agua en dirección a él. Pero, al ver la violencia del viento, tuvo miedo, y como empezaba a hundirse, gritó: «Señor, sálvame». En seguida, Jesús le tendió la mano y lo sostuvo, mientras le decía: «Hombre de poca fe, ¿por qué dudaste?».  En cuanto subieron a la barca, el viento se calmó. Los que estaban en ella se postraron ante él, diciendo: «Verdaderamente, tú eres el Hijo de Dios».  Al llegar a la otra orilla, fueron a Genesaret. Cuando la gente del lugar lo reconoció, difundió la noticia por los alrededores, y le llevaban a todos los enfermos, rogándole que los dejara tocar tan sólo los flecos de su manto, y todos los que lo tocaron quedaron curados.Palabra del Señor

Después de despedirla, subió al monte a solas para orar. Llegada la noche, estaba él solo allí.Entre tanto, la barca iba ya muy lejos de la costa y las olas la sacudían, porque el viento era contrario. A la madrugada, Jesús fue hacia ellos, caminando sobre el agua. Los discípulos, al verlo andar sobre el agua, se espantaron y decían: "¡Es un fantasma!" Y daban gritos de terror. Pero Jesús les dijo enseguida: "Tranquilícense y no teman. Soy yo".Entonces le dijo Pedro: "Señor, si eres tú, mándame ir a ti caminando sobre el agua". Jesús le contestó: "Ven". Pedro bajó de la barca y comenzó a caminar sobre el agua hacia Jesús; pero al sentir la fuerza del viento, le entró miedo, comenzó a hundirse y gritó: "¡Sálvame, Señor!" Inmediatamente Jesús le tendió la mano, lo sostuvo y le dijo: "Hombre de poca fe, ¿por qué dudaste?"En cuanto subieron a la barca, el viento se calmó. Los que estaban en la barca se postraron ante Jesús, diciendo: "Verdaderamente tú eres el Hijo de Dios".Terminada la travesía, llegaron a Genesaret. Apenas lo reconocieron los habitantes de aquel lugar, pregonaron la noticia por toda la región y le trajeron a todos los enfermos. Le pedían que los dejara tocar siquiera el borde de su manto; y cuantos lo tocaron, quedaron curados.

If there's anything our culture likes to collectively ignore, resist and hide, it's aging. And yet, aging happens to every single one of us - whether it's aging parents, aging partners or aging selves, we all have an experience with it.  With age comes the opportunity for nourishment and deeper learning, but aging also comes with some unpleasant emotions and experiences.  Cognitive and physical decline and even loss are all parts of the process of getting older. How do we learn to treat these things as a learning adventure? How do we deal with loved ones becoming shadows of their former selves?  Instead of resisting the things that come with aging, embracing them makes life richer. The skill of learning to be with unpleasant experiences and emotions is one we can learn at any point in our lives, and it certainly comes in handy when we're getting older.  How do we build this skill? What are the gifts of aging? In this episode, we're joined by couples therapist, relationship coach, author, speaker, college professor, trainer, and founding teacher of the Getting Real work, Dr. Susan Campbell.
