ITOP Episode 332 - Andrew Bruce - DATA Gumbo 3 - 20 - 22 by SHALE Magazine
ESG Decoded is the podcast powered by Global Affairs Associates to share relevant updates related to business innovation and sustainability in a manner that is clear and actionable. In this episode, Kaitlyn Allen switches things up by starting with some fun. We learn some really neat facts about Andrew Bruce before diving into the topic of smart contracts. Andrew is the Founder and CEO of Data Gumbo, a Houston-based technology company that has developed GumboNet™, the interconnected, industrial smart contract network powered andsecured by blockchain. Andrew created Data Gumbo after spotting an opportunity to eliminate a sizable cost inefficiency between an oil supermajor and one of its suppliers. Andrew and Data Gumbo have not gone unnoticed. Andrew was named a 2020 finalist for Ernst &Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Gulf Coast Area; Data Gumbo was recognized in the Forbes 2020 Energy Awards, with industrial customers around the world. Kaitlyn and Andrew start by defining what a smart contract is and highlight how many of us engage in them in our daily lives…we just may not use the term. The pay-at-the-pump gas transaction is an example of a smart contract. They then explore smart contacts' practical applications in businesses and their connection to sustainability measurements and ESG reporting. As always, Kaitlyn does a super job of clarifying the ‘ESG alphabet gumbo,' ensuring that we don't get lost in the acronyms that relate to this topic. Subscribe to ESG Decoded where you consume your podcasts and connect via social media to share your feedback and topic suggestions. Enjoy this episode!
The season two finale of "Drink & A Natter with JuicyChef" and friends is quite a lively and inebriated one as they discuss climate change from a Caribbean point of view. Plant Jamaica founded by Andrew Bruce is a nonprofit organisation planting food gardens around the island in the inner cities, schools, wealthy suburbs and beyond. Trouble's Brewing is the brainchild of Christian Sale, it is Jamaica's first micro brewing company which produces a premium line of beers, ales, lagers and stouts. Live ECCO is an environmental conservation organisation led by it's founder, Shelly Ann Dunkley, which teaches the public how to "go green" and the instigators behind Caribbean Environment Week. Jacqui, Andrew, Christian and Shelly-Ann discuss the challenges of living on an island and mitigating climate change from individual to corporate responsibility, navigating red tape and funding challenges, choosing sustainable crops and growing vegetables in an urban versus rural environment. A part two conversation is planned for Season Three. Drinks of the episode: A flight of Troubles Brewing Beer (watch on the Nyam & Trod YouTube channel) plus honey bourbon and ginger ale.

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Data Gumbo's CEO Andrew Bruce and Jason Modglin, the President of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, to talk about their new partnership. A lot had changed for Data Gumbo since we first had them on so it was good to get an update on all the cool things they're doing in the space. The post Data Gumbo and TAEP on Oil and Gas Startups Podcast appeared first on Digital Wildcatters.
Blockchain technology continues to change the world in new ways. Tech startup Data Gumbo is one of the latest examples of that. Data Gumbo uses blockchain technology to create a network of smart contracts for industrial companies to automate their vendor management. By doing so, Data Gumbo vastly reduces supply chain friction while also bringing trust into an area severely lacking it. Date Gumbo CEO Andrew Bruce sat down for a conversation with startup ally Roland Siebelink this week on the Silicon Valley Momentum Podcast. Andrew explained why blockchain technology provides the perfect solution for this particular use case. He also shared the steps Data Gumbo has taken on its road to success: How the idea for Data Gumbo came from companies that didn’t trust each other. Why business sponsorship was a better fit for Data Gumbo than venture capital investing. The importance of looking at what investors can bring to the table outside of money. Andrew’s strong opinion on the evil of pilot projects. How a structured operating system played a key role in Data Gumbo’s growth. Why establishing the company value of “comfortable with chaos” has been critical for Data Gumbo. To know more about Data Gumbo, click here.

When companies are trying to watch every penny, the armchair quarterback is not even an option. The older management style of being reactive has to change to survive. Andrew Bruce, President & CEO and I were able to sit down and cover the Real-Time Lease Operating Expenses business issues. In one case study we talked about, the gross annual savings was at an estimated $4.4 million dollars. One thing I can say about Bruce is that he knows numbers, and technology. This is a very cool interview about how the big boys save the real bucks. "... companies rely on P&L to tell them the score, but by then it's too late to make corrections. A Profit and Loss statement is a trailing indicator...With a Scorecard however, you can change the future". Gino Wickman - Traction. Bruce, as always, thank you for stopping by, Michael and I had a blast while seeing what blockchain and LEO can do. Visit DataGumbo online at www.datagumbo.com

Concerns around the Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill, which has its second reading in the House today. The legislation will end 90 day no-cause evictions, meaning landlords must offer more robust reasons for getting rid of tenants.Auckland Property Investors Association president Andrew Bruce told Kate Hawkesby it will be hard to find anything in the bill that landlords like."You'll have to give three separate notices during a 90 day period, which will be a very difficult process to administer. "Andrew Bruce says vulnerable tenants are going to be vetted incredibly strictly. He says landlords and property managers are going to be worried about putting tenants in to a property, who they suspect won't stick to the rules.LISTEN ABOVE
When people hear the word "blockchain" they either fall to the floor in the fetal position, or jump up and down about the best transactional technology they use. Personally, I am the guy curled up on the floor. When Michael Tanner, 360 Host and Analyst, and myself, had the opportunity to sit down with Andrew Bruce, Founder and CEO, Data Gumbo, we were pleasantly surprised about how he took the complex and turned it into millions of dollars in savings in OpEx. Just imagine if you are an E&P company and you need to save money right now. You can continue to bleed cash, or look to technology to save money. Andrew talked about the ability to bridge the transactional gap to transactional bliss. Through the GumboNet blockchain technology companies can save millions. Yes that is not a typo. I had to stop Andrew, and back up to verify that my ears had not gone bad. (Even though I am old) We also cover the Data Gumbo business model, and if I was an Oil & Gas executive looking to save millions, calling Andrew would be the first thing I would do. Andrew, thanks for stopping by, we had a blast with the interview, and look forward to seeing you again. Michael and Stu. About Andrew Bruce: Andrew Bruce is the founder and CEO of Data Gumbo, a company he founded in 2016 after spotting an opportunity to eliminate a sizable cost inefficiency between an oil supermajor and one of its suppliers. Data Gumbo provides GumboNet™, the trusted transactional network that automates smart contracts and transactions for industry leaders. Prior to Data Gumbo, Andrew was the COO for MHWirth, an oil & gas drilling equipment OEM where he supervised global operations. Previous to this position, Andrew was VP of Controls at NOV. During his tenure at NOV, he founded the NOVOS product, a first-of-its-kind semi-autonomous drilling system, which Andrew holds a joint patent for on rig automation. With years of experience as an IT consultant and serial entrepreneur, Andrew earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is currently a member of IADC and SPE.
