Welcome to Jon’s Author Diary for the week ending September 1, 2019…yes, September. I’ve had a productive week. If you’ve been receiving my newsletters for a while, you now that I've been telling myself not to start new projects until I clear the backlog of ongoing projects. Well, I failed that this week. I’ve been working on a new prequel for The Ravenglass Chronicles. It’s set about nine months before the events of The Magician, and gives some more insight into Kat’s life and how she first met Hans. I have a first draft complete and will be working on a second draft over the next week or so. Those of you who on my Patreon page will get a first look at this as I post the unedited chapters as soon as the second draft is ready. The rest of you will have to wait! But, fear not, it’s going to be a freebie to say thank you for supporting my work. The prequel will be called… *drumroll* The Fool. “Wait! Didn’t you already release The Fool?” Yes. The story I originally released under the title The Fool is now combined with The Magician. Amazon would not let me have a book 0 (The Fool is card 0 in the tarot) linked to a series. This meant readers missing out on the first episode of the series. So, The Fool as a title was unpublished and there will be a new version. I’m not going to make this available on Amazon, only to my newsletter subscribers. So, look out for the new version of The Fool coming at some point in the near future. Black Death update I have now compiled the Black Death series into three novels. It is now with my co-author, Lynn, so it's out of my hands for a while. I hope that it will get done in the not-too-distant future. TOOL has a new album! I was excited this week to see that one of my favourite bands TOOL released a new album for the first time in 13 years. And it did not disappoint. It is a great album. This will probably sound pretentious, but TOOL’s doesn’t write ‘songs’—they are more like musical experiences, hypnotic stories that take you on strange journeys. The Wasteland series re-write I continue to post chapters from the new, improved version of Wizard of the Wasteland every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on my Patreon page. I’m about twenty percent through reworking Knight of the Wasteland—I forgot just how much I loved writing this story. As soon as I’m done posting chapters from Wizard, I’ll go straight onto this. And, of course, I’m posting these in addition to short stories, podcasts, and exclusive articles. You can access all of these for as little as $1 per month. Please visit: patreon.com/joncronshawauthor. Assassin novels I’m currently on a bit of grimdark fantasy assassin kick. I’ve recently read Andy Peloquin’s Darkblade Assassin and have moved onto Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. Do you have a favourite assassin novel or series you think I should read?
Craig, Ryan, Stephanie, and author Andy Peloquin discuss Beyond the Shadows, book 3 of Brent Weeks's Night Angel trilogy. They talk about whether fantasy violence is any worse than the real stuff, what Dorian's story teaches us about the corrupting influence of power, and the growth arc of Vi, the former assassin with a heart of gold. Fantasy author Andy Peloquin comes on to talk about the highs and lows of hardcore writing rituals, how he does it, his process, and how every writer can do 'hardcore' writing for themselves. You can find him on his website, Facebook, and Twitter. Are you an epic/high/medieval fantasy fan? Did you know I have a new audio drama in development that is an epic medieval fantasy? It will be exclusive to Patrons. All Patrons will get access, from $1 up. Become a Patron today and never miss an episode of Crown of Thieves.
Sean Grigsby talks with author Andy Peloquin
Due to unforseen circumstances, Andy Peloquin had to cancel his visit this week. He and his family have recently relocated to Canada and have not gotten totally settled in. RevKess and KaliSara decided to share his first visit with you again. On August 21, 2016, Andy visited for the first time to talk about what then called the Last Busellari series. He has since rebranded and relaunched that project in combination with the Queen of Thieves books. Following are updated links for Andy and his books. We hope that you enjoy the show! Andy Peloquin is a storyteller and an artist--words are his palette. Fantasy is his genre of choice, and he loves to explore the darker side of human nature through the filter of fantasy heroes, villains, and everything in between. Thief of the Night Guild is the sequel to Child of the Night Guild. It showcases how the woman Ilanna has to adapt and become more ruthless and cruel to survive in a male-dominated society of thieves, assassins, and thugs.
Andy Peloquin joins RevKess and KaliSara to talk about his new book Thief of the Night Guild. Thief is the second book in his Queen of Thieves series. Set in the same world as the Last Bucelarii series, these books follow the life of a young thief as she confronts her own inner demons and the obstacles of life put in her way as a member of the Night Guild. There is love, hate, blood, and intrigue throughout the books. Andy has been on the show before to talk about both series. The hosts and he will talk more about the writing process and how a writer's life can evolve and devolve along with their stories. Andy has also written a series of shorts in the same world that center around characters with various mental and physical disabilities. Andy's visits on the show: Blade of the Destroyer, Child of the Night Guild, and Gateway to the Past.
Chatting With Sherri welcomes author Andy Peloquin! A faceless, nameless assassin. A forgotten past. The Hunter of Voramis--a killer devoid of morals, or something else altogether? (The Last Bucelarii--dark fantasy with a look at the underside of human nature)
Andy Peloquin returns to the Pagan-Musings Podcast to talk about his recently released book, Gateway to the Past, book three in the Last Bucelarii series. In his own words: I am, first and foremost, a storyteller and an artist--words are my palette. Fantasy is my genre of choice, and I love to explore the darker side of human nature through the filter of fantasy heroes, villains, and everything in between. I'm also a freelance writer, a book lover, and a guy who just loves to meet new people and spend hours talking about my fascination for the worlds I encounter in the pages of fantasy novels. Fantasy provides us with an escape, a way to forget about our mundane problems and step into worlds where anything is possible. It transcends age, gender, religion, race, or lifestyle--it is our way of believing what cannot be, delving into the unknowable, and discovering hidden truths about ourselves and our world in a brand new way. Fiction at its very best!

KaliSara introduced RevKess and all the listeners of PMPChannel to author Andy Peloquin last fall. RevKess has asked him to return to talk about this new series Queen of Thieves. Child of the Night Guild launches this series and was released on January 17, 2017. "They killed my parents. They took my name. They imprisoned me in darkness. I would not be broken." Viola, a child sold to pay her father's debts, has lost everything: her mother, her home, and her identity. Thrown into a life among criminals, she has no time for grief as she endures the brutal training of an apprentice thief. Reading—and now writing—is his favorite escape, and it provides him an outlet for his innate creativity. He is an artist; words are his palette. Andy's 2nd book of the Last Bucelarii, Lament of the Fallen, is set to release on August 19th. Blade of the Destroyer is also available on amazon. A faceless, nameless assassin. A forgotten past.
