If you're regularly dissing on yourself in what you say to and about yourself (or even think negative thoughts about yourself), not only will your life suffer, but so will the lives of those around you! Let's be honest… if you're feeling angry with yourself, if you're down on yourself all the time… it's like being lost in a mental boxing ring in your head and you're about to knock yourself out because you've been beating on yourself with negative self-talk. Not only are you being hurt, but the others in your vicinity are gonna feel that energy coming from you. And when it comes to negative self-talk, the energy is definitely negative. Negative thoughts lead to negative feelings, which often leads to negative behavior… often in the way of unhealthy eating. Let's make stinking thinking (the negative self-talk) a thing of the past. Doing so will greatly increase the likelihood of you maintaining a healthy weight! Let's learn how this is all connected…Resources:Connie Stapleton PhD website: www.conniestapletonphd.comBariAftercare website: https://www.conniestapletonphd.com/bariaftercareBariAftercare Facebook page (for members only): https://www.facebook.com/groups/BariAftercareInstagram: @therealbaribossInstgram: @lauraleeprestonInstagram: @chefhealthyhenryInstagram: @myweightishistoryThe Committee in Your Mind (Part 1), Dr. April Seifert https://www.peakmindpsychology.com/blog/0187 Please subscribe to the show and rate it on Apple Podcasts, download free information at www.conniestapletonphd.com, and follow me on Twitter (@cstapletonphd), Instagram (@cstapletonphd), YouTube, LinkedIn, and on Facebook.

M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community   Power Quotes From The Show   The Greatest Self-Care Hack "If you are feeling anxious, worried, emotionally exhausted, and unable to focus, the very first thing you need to understand is that there is nothing wrong with you. You are not deficient, weak, or handling this worse than anybody else; it is just that you are a human who has a brain and that brain is reacting in ways that brains do given the circumstances that we're in and that is nothing to be ashamed of, ever." - April Seifert   What Are Anxiety And Fear? "You are not your thoughts nor your emotions. You are also not your bodily sensations of fear. What do fear and anxiety mean? They are just bodily, emotional thought processes that are happening in your body and in your mind but they are not you. You can be an observer of that and the more distance you put between yourself and that process, the more you'll be able to move through it, feel it, and realize that they're nothing that has to do with your next step."  - April Seifert     You Are Your Rooted Consciousness   "If it's not accurate or helpful, you don't have to buy into that thought. You are not that story, you are not your belief systems, you are not your thoughts nor your feelings. You are that centered consciousness awareness that is deeply rooted in the things that don't change no matter what situation or circumstances you're in; that is your core." - April Seifert   Links From Today's Show  Building Psychological Strength Podcast 0153 | How to EMBODY Psychological Strength with Josh Trent Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes Organifi 311 Mark Wolynn 129 Gretchen Rubin Eckhart Tolle Alan Watts Steven C. This week on the podcast we’re speaking with Dr. Kevin Payne. He is a scientist, entrepreneur and author.    His upcoming book, "Your Life, Well Lived" presents a new understanding of what it’s like to live with a chronic health condition and shows both diagnosed and caregivers how to improve quality of life. Beyond that, it’s an actionable, understandable text on how everyone, chronic condition or not, can live better lives.  We talk about so many impactful concepts in this episode, but most notably, we talk about something Kevin calls “the edge.” This is the edge of our comfort zone.   He does a beautiful job of highlighting how personal and individualized the definition of the edge is. It’s different for each of us. He describes that a set of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, physical, and social gates help determine whether something is approaching our “edge,” and he gives us a clear way to identify when we’re approaching our own edge.  Most importantly, he talks about the importance of constantly bumping into that edge. It’s where true joy, happiness, and excitement live. It’s also where growth lives.    Kevin shares with us the 6 things his extensive research has shown contributes to quality of life, and we talk about it all in the context of how we each can individually figure out what will improve our own life experience.  We’re so thrilled to partner with Dr. Kevin Payne on this episode!  Relevant Links:  Chronic Cow (Kevin’s company focused on providing practical answers, grounded in science, driven by data, delivered with compassion, and personalized for you.  Episode 0141: How to Live ‘Eyes Wide Open’ with Isaac Lidsky  Episode 0127: Failure Means You’re on the Right Path with April Seifert

April Seifert is a psychologist, entreprenuer, and self-proclaimed life experience junkie. I like her because she gives you real, practical advice for creating the life you deserve. And, she's heckin' smart too. If I had a PhD I would definitely make all of you call me doctor for no reason and in every situation!! She also mentions radical responsibility - the idea that you take 100% responsibility for 100% of the situations you're in. She explains how that mindset works with life design , as well as this 30 day sof beauty challenge. Basically, you take a picture of a beautiful thing for 30 days and see what your brain starts to notice. Tag me on instagram at @realmarthariley if you do the challenge - I want to see the results! We have one finite life.   Period.  I will die one day. You will die one day. We all will die one day. We have ONE finite life.   Today's guest is on a mission to help you feel the weight of that statement so hard you take action at everything you want to accomplish.  April Seifert has a Ph.D. in social psychology and among many things (skydiver, data scientist, MS warrior, mom, podcaster, entrepreneur, power lifter, runner, course creator) her life mission is to help women step into the scary parts of their desires and dreams and take the leap.   In this episode she tackles the topic of money in a way I have never experienced.  She asks you to answer the statement, "I am the type of person who makes __________ amount of money."  In answering this statement and digging into how to up the amount she gives tips for changing your brain patterns to convince your brain that in fact it does want to make more money. We also cover the topics of why should you want to make more money, what money represents and she tells of how she was diagnosed as a teenager with MS and growing up living on one Totino's Pizza as a family of 4 after losing her dad to cancer.  One of my favorite spots in this show is when she talks about risk taking with money and making sure that we have enough savings will help buy you options and mental safety.  I could totally relate in this moment, thinking back to times when our credit cards were full of debt and there was no safe feeling at all.  April recommends taking small steps when you feel afraid and this episode is full of laughter, heartfelt moments, story telling that will make you remember the concepts and set your soul on fire to achieve that next goal.  Connect with April on her website:  www.aprilseifert.com I want to hear from you on Instagram about your money story! Let's connect! COMING SOON!  In the next few weeks you will have access to a brand-new course: Succeeding at Side Hustle.  Join our mailing list to be notified when the course is ready! https://mailchi.mp/50a61e730d53/networthitgroup

April Seifert, PhD considers herself a multi-passionate person. In this episode, our conversation with her covered skydiving, motherhood, data nerdery, implicit bias assessments, gender stereotyping and, of course, digital exhaust analysis. April's dissertation was on gender stereotyping which is what we spent most of our time on, between references to the Millennial Falcon. April offered two key ways we deal with the out-of-context or contradictory stereotype images: 1. We adjust our stereotype to include this new image (which is rare because it's hard) or 2. We claim the image is an exception to the rule. By gum, we humans are fascinating beings! We also talked about some of April's favorite books including Carol Dweck's seminal work Mindset, Martin Seligman's work on positive psychology and Tara Mohr's exciting book, Playing Big. We discussed music and it's important contribution to priming and got into power-woman bands including No Doubt, headed up by Gwen Stefani, and a Scottish synth-pop band named Churches. We hope you enjoy our conversation with April Seifert - that's "SI-fert" - on all the topics we covered. And please note, this discussion contains language you might not want your kids to hear.
