Be Empowered With His Strength. For every born again Christian, Jesus Christ Must be the strength of their life, otherwise much of their life is a dismal failure. Only in Christ and His strength can we depend. In any kind of trouble the Lord is our fortress. In any kind of distress the Lord is our comfort. In any kind of need the Lord is our provider. If we constantly wait upon the Lord and are obedient to Him, His strength becomes our strength and our battle becomes His battle. In doing this we are assured of overcoming victory in Him. Don't try to win in your own strength but claim His strength as your own.
What's keeping you stuck isn't your habits — it's your identity. Did you know that if a pilot takes off from Los Angeles headed to New York just one degree off course, they'll land 40 miles from where they were supposed to be? That's not New York — that's Connecticut. Just a one degree difference. In this week's episode of the One Second of Strength Podcast, host Tanner Clark, talks about the small degree that can make or break our life. It's not the one missed workout. Not the one morning you skipped your routine. That first mile off course — it doesn't derail you. It doesn't ruin your life. It's the next mile, and the next mile, and the next mile after that. It's staying one degree off and never correcting. That's what puts you somewhere you never intended to go.We're talking today about where you've gotten a little off course — your habits, your goals, the things you said you were going to do — and what it looks like to shift back. Not overhaul your whole life. Not do all the things at once. Just one thing today that gets you pointed back in the right direction.Because the same compounding that takes you off course works the other way too. One right action, repeated over and over again, is how you get to where you want to go. On this episode of the Business of Strength Podcast, Dan Goodman covers why gym owners misuse money and what to do instead. After working with gym owners for 7+ years, one thing is clear: our industry has a strange relationship with money. Coaches sell with their own wallet in mind, undercharge, and hesitate to raise rates even as costs rise. Instead of fixing pricing, gym owners start cutting coaching hours, marketing, education, and services—stepping over dollars to pick up pennies. In this episode, Dan breaks down why underpricing is the real issue, why you can't cost cut your way to growth, and how to start using money as a tool to buy time, invest in people, and scale what's working. What an outstanding discussion with Stonelifting phenomenon Liam Brown. In a little over two years, Liam has become an incredible lifter and one of the most impressive stone carriers on the planet, having carried the legendary Húsafell for nearly TWO full laps. A hugely impressive accomplishment for any human being, but being a sub 90kg body weight athlete, that is an otherworldy feat of strength (and we know he will get the full two laps (and further) soon). Another layer to Liam's awesomeness is how openly and enthusiastically he shares training and lifting tips with others as a means of helping other new lifters benefit from the learnings he has acquired over the years!!! We are also very excited to introduce our new segment Community Corner, where we open up topics to input from the entire community in an effort to capture and share more stories directly from those that have experienced them (all of you!)!!! On this episode of the Business of Strength Podcast, Dan Goodman breaks down why gyms owners delay or handle price increases emotionally. In this episode, we cover when a price increase is earned, the metrics that should be in place first, and how to communicate it clearly and professionally.• Price increases should reflect strong demand and consistent value, not solve short-term cash flow issues.• Metrics to have in place:– 70%+ trial conversion– 95%+ retention– 70%+ session capacity– Current clients have not recently received a rate increase• If sessions aren't full, fix utilization before raising prices. Retention remains the clearest indicator of value.• Executing the letter: keep it simple, direct, and respectful. Acknowledge loyalty, state the new rate and effective date, and express appreciation. The goal is clarity, not persuasion.• Reminder: Trainer Empire — March 7th & 8th, London, England. It was an absolute pleasure to connect with strength athlete and author extraordinaire Alyssa Ages and have such an insightful and enlightening chat for Episode 24! Alyssa is someone who jumped into the strength world with both feet and has found significant purpose in not only developing her own physical capabilities, but also in helping the broader public understand why so many of us find intense meaning and reward in our pursuit of strength. In her book, "Secrets of Giants: A Journey to Uncover the True Meaning of Strength" (which we highly recommend you all check out!), Alyssa did a phenomenal job in conveying her own journey of self-discovery through strength while also shining a light on the incredibly kind and communal nature of the strength community, and highlighting the stories of many of the strongest competitors to have walked this Earth. She compassionately conveyed how, beneath the slabs of hard-earned mass and indominable exteriors, there are human beings that have sought to armour themselves with strength as a means of growing beyond periods of vulnerability in their lives, unmasking a relatability that is seldom showcased in the world of Strongman.Alyssa has also been a fantastic advocate for Stonelifting, relaying both its rich history and the intensely rewarding experience of hoisting heavy rocks within her book, but also in broadening its viewership through authoring Stonelifting centric articles in world-class magazines and newspapers!Thank you, Alyssa, for all you have done to help document and grow the incredible practice of Stonelifting and its community!
Where does real wisdom actually come from?In this episode of The One Second of Strength Podcast, we explore why wisdom isn't intelligence—it's experience, and why so many of life's most important lessons are learned through failure, not school or success.Using a personal story with his daughter, Tanner breaks down:Why parents are often right—not because they're perfect, but because they've been wrong beforeHow failure and life experience create wisdom faster than knowledge aloneWhy teens naturally resist advice during identity formationHow parents can share wisdom without sounding controllingThe difference between learning through scars and learning through borrowed experienceThis episode is for growth-minded parents who want to guide without lecturing, and teenagers who want independence without unnecessary regret. You'll learn:Why wisdom comes from experience, not IQHow to shorten your learning curve by listeningWhen failure is necessary—and when it's optionalHow humility accelerates personal growthYou're allowed to learn the hard way.But if someone offers you wisdom they paid for with experience, this episode challenges you to listen—before you have to learn it yourself.RATE: Leave a 5 Star Rating for the show! Why does motivation feel harder than ever—even when you want more for your life?In this episode of The One Second of Strength Podcast, Tanner Clark breaks down the hidden cost of cheap dopamine—the instant rewards we get from phones, social media, scrolling, gaming, and constant entertainment. This isn't about laziness or lack of discipline. It's about how our brains are being trained to avoid discomfort—and how that slowly reshapes our identity.Tanner explains:Why cheap dopamine feels good now but steals confidence laterHow avoiding discomfort rewires the brain to quit earlyWhy motivation doesn't come before action—it comes afterThe small, powerful choice that begins rebuilding self-respect and mental strengthThis episode is especially relevant for teens, parents, and educators who are seeing rising anxiety, lower resilience, and a growing fear of hard things. You don't need to overhaul your life. You need one moment where you don't chase the easy reward.RATE: Leave a 5 Start rating for the showSHARE: Who is ONE person who needs this today?SUBSCRIBE: Never miss another episode.
In this episode of the Business of Strength Podcast, Dan Goodman breaks down how his organization runs year-end reviews and why the process has been so effective as the company has grown. The review is done in two parts. First, a self-review led by the team member to create ownership, clarity, and alignment. Second, a compensation review that reinforces expectations and removes uncertainty around performance and pay.Dan also discusses the two factors that truly drive growth in training businesses: the ability to generate consistent leads and the ability to lead humans well.
