He also wrote a relatively small amount of science fiction. Best known as the writer of Psycho (1959), the basis for the film of the same name by Alfred Hitchcock, Bloch wrote hundreds of short stories and over 30 novels. He was a protégé of H. P. Lovecraft, who was the first to seriously encourage his talentMindwebs was a 1970's series out of WHA Radio in Wisconsin that featured weekly semi-dramatized readings of science fiction short stories performed by Michael Hansen. It aired stories by some of the genre's best writers like Robert Bloch, Arthur C. Clarke, Gordon R. Dickson, and Ray Bradbury. Many of the readings were enhanced by music, periodic sound cues, and the occasional character voice, however they are not completely dramatized.Relevant Links:"The Man Who Collected Poe" by Robert Bloch on Rish Outcast (Patreon)Theme music: Liberator by Man In SpaceTo comment on this or any episode:Send comments and/or recordings to journeyintopodcat@gmail.comPost a comment on Facebook here, or on X here

Rish and Marshal present Rish's Thanksgiving-inspired tale, "Tarkin's Tradition," where Imperial dignitaries (and a stormtrooper) gather on the Death Star at the behest of Grand Moff Tarkin to share appreciation. To download, right-click here and then click SaveJoin the Journey Into Patreon to get extra episodes and personal addresses, plus other extras and rewards.Author's Note: The character of Greejatus, while indeed an Imperial Dignitary in RETURN OF THE JEDI, is actually based on the physical appearance of Sim Aloo, played by Anthony Lang, who received an action figure in 1985. Unfortunately, the name later given this character was so inexcusably stupid . . . that it was unacceptable for use in this sketch. Hence, the name was switched with the other prominent Imperial Dignitary. I'm a writer, not a monster. To comment on this or any episode:Send comments and/or recordings to journeyintopodcat@gmail.comTweet us us TwitterPost a comment on Facebook here or here

He's a fan of the Star Wars Trilogy, Eighties music, and those horror movies your mother insisted you not watch for fear of what they'd do to you (turns out she was right about that one). He's the former co-host of the Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine podcast, and his own show, the Rish Outcast. Some may argue, including Ray himself, that he writes fantasy rather than science fiction. He once said that Fahrenheit 451 was his only true science fiction work. His stories may tells us very little about science, but a great deal about the netherworld of imagination buried deep within all of us. In addition to over 1000 short stories, several novels and a handful of plays; Ray Bradbury has written poetry and scenarios. He adapted the novel Moby Dick for the movies, and has seen several of his own stories made into motion pictures, as well as television and radio shows. His writing has appeared in nearly every American magazine publishing quality fiction, and in over 100 anthologies of short stories.Find other Suspense appearances on Journey Into here, and other Ray Bradbury appearances here.Theme music: Liberator by Man In SpaceTo comment on this or any episode:Leave us a voicemail at 77-JINTO-107 (775-4686-107)Send comments and/or recordings to journeyintopodcat@gmail.comTweet us us TwitterPost a comment on Facebook here
