The report cited US officials familiar with the details.3. A massive Israeli strike Friday morning destroyed the underground Tehran bunker of Iran's late supreme leader Ali Khamenei, which was being used by senior regime officials.4. US President Donald Trump said Thursday that he needs to be “involved” in selecting Iran's next leader, days after Israeli strikes killed the country's longtime supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.5. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set the goal of assassinating Iran's late supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, back in November, Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Thursday night.6. According to the IDF, more than 550 aerial refuelings have been carried out over the skies of the Middle East since the war began, allowing hundreds of IAF fighter jets to operate in Iran, located over 1,500 kilometers (nearly 1,000 miles) from Israel.7. Iran will target the Israeli nuclear site of Dimona if Israel and the US seek regime change in the Islamic Republic, semi-official ISNA news agency reported Wednesday, citing an Iranian military official.8. The People Pushing War With Iran Believe the World Is EndingSo, this morning President Trump posted to social media that there “will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER! After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction.” He signed off with “MIGA!,” for “make Iran great again.”So the dimensions of this conflict have certainly expanded, and now involves over 17 different countries and far more complexity than the Invasion of Iraq - “We are in it Now” says senator Elisa Slotkin, former CIA case officer, when questioned today about approving additional defense funding to extend military operations against Iran for another Hundred Days. All while Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait are considering canceling or reviewing contracts and investment commitments with the U.S. due to mounting economic strain and insecurity caused by the ongoing war with Iran. This potential move aims to pressure the Trump administration to halt the conflict, as Gulf officials express frustration over not being warned about attacks and feeling unprotected.Trump has gutted the state department, many strategic state department postings in region remain unoccupied, USAID, which would usually be working on shaping a post conflict enviroment is not longer really a thing and US bases and Israeli cities have been getting hit. And despite the media blackout a ton of damage is being done to US assets, bases, and the war is not going well. But that's okay because a lot of evangelical extremists in the WH are actually not trying to live in a better world or fix the environment, or improve your material conditions, because they believe they are living in a time of revelatory prophecy and we are nearing the end of human history anyways.

President Trump appears dead set on joining Israel's war with Iran. After a period of negotiations, Trump has now tweeted that he wants Iran's “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” The New York Times has a deep dive into his deliberations, and the findings are shocking. Trump is ready for war even though our own intelligence assessments don't support the case for it. And incredibly, the Times reports, Trump was influenced on all this by what he saw on Fox News, which broadcast relentless imagery of Israel's “genius” bombing of Iran. This led Trump to want “some credit for himself” for the attack, after which he “began hinting that he had played a bigger behind-the-scenes role in the war than people realized.” He then leaned more towards escalation. We talked to veteran national security hand Matt Duss, executive vice president at the Center for International Policy, who has a great piece for Foreign Policy magazine on the situation. The day to day of domestic politics appears diminished by comparison with the ever-looming threat of an escalated conflict…But the show must go on: today's PMQs saw Chris Philp (why not Robert Jenrick?) and Angela Rayner deputising for their absent leaders; Liz Kendall introduced legislation to enact cuts to personal independence payments for disabled people; the Commons voted to decriminalise abortion at any point until birth; and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) is up to its old tricks, announcing that inflation has fallen when the reality is much more complicated. President Trump has been clear on this issue for years: Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. How come so many conservatives are against that decision? [30:00] Bibi the Watchman (25 minutes) Benjamin Netanyahu has been warning about the threat of a nuclear Iran for decades. Like Winston Churchill, he has wanted to take preemptive action to eliminate the threat.
