Hon'ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Sri Shiv Pratap Shukla ji visited Prasanthi Nilayam for the first time on the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima. He launched the Divyangjan Seva initiative in the divine presence, symbolizing a commitment to serving the differently-abled community. This launch not only marked a new chapter in the ongoing service activities for Centenary Celebrations but also reinforced the spirit of selfless service and inclusivity. In his philosophical talk, Sri Shukla shared his heartfelt sentiments, acknowledging that it was purely Swami's will that brought him to Prasanthi Nilayam after a long period of yearning. Highlighting the seamless integration of bhakti (devotion) and seva (service), Sri Shukla elaborated on the practical application of spirituality in daily life stressing the importance of following Swami's dictum of 'Manava Seva Madhava Seva' (Service to man is Service to God).

Synopsis The Boston Symphony premiered a new symphony on today's date in 1984—a commission for its Centenary Celebrations. It was the Symphony No. 1 by the then 45 year-old American composer, John Harbison. Like many composers who teach, Harbison does most of his composing in the summer months, usually spent on a farm in Token Creek, Wisconsin. The academic year is usually spent in Boston, teaching at MIT. In the case of his first symphony, Harbison worked on the piece both in Wisconsin (where he was also finishing up an Italian language song-cycle), and during a residency year at the American Academy in Rome. "Just as it felt very right to be working on Italian songs in the Midwest," commented Harbison, "it was natural to work on this American-accented symphony in Italy. I have always found the view from the distance to be clearest." Harbison's father, a Princeton history professor and amateur composer, also was a big influence on him. The younger Harbison, like his father, has an abiding passion for and fluency in American jazz as well as the modern classical idiom. Harbison dramatically fused both styles in one of his most ambitious ventures to date, the opera, The Great Gatsby, which premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 1999. Join me to celebrate 100 episodes of The Extraordinary Business Book Club! I puzzled over how to mark this milestone for a while, but in the end I decided to keep it real: three business people just like you, carving out the time to write from the demands of the day job, none of them professional writers, all working out how to do this one step at a time.  Julie Dennis is a menopause coach - her book The Hot Flush Freedom Challenge was published by Practical Inspiration Publishing in January 2017 Michael Brown is a trainer and consultant, who's just about to deliver to me the manuscript for My Job Isn't Working: 10 proven ways to boost your career mojo for publication in July 2018 Elaine Halligan is a Director of The Parent Practice, whose book My Child is Different, the story of her son Sam - who'd been excluded from three schools by the age of seven, but who went on to become Head Boy at senior school and is today a thriving young entrepreneur - is being published by Crown House in July 2018 Each of them shares what they've discovered on the journey, and their incredibly practical advice for anyone in the same situation. Each one of them inspires me with their passion for their message, and how they can make the world a little better, one reader at a time.  I can't think of a better way to celebrate 100 episodes of celebrating extraordinary business books.
