The title speaks for itself -- the NBA season is about to begin! The Suns are set to face the Nuggets for their first regular season game on October 20th, and this episode of Suns Mode is the last time we discuss the state of the team before the real games are played. Before we preview the regular season, we should first wrap-up the preseason. Here are some of the questions we tried to answer.- Who will take the 10th rotation spot?- When is Cam Johnson on the court and who is he running with?- How will Elfrid Payton round out point guard duties? Does he fit well with Payne?- Are Chasson Randle, Chandler Hutchison any good?- Jalen Smith at the power forward compared to the center position. Here's how we are going to preview the 2021 NBA Season- Season predictions regarding Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, Cam Payne and Cam Johnson- Who will be the top five on the Suns in three pointers made?- Who will win, as well as who will earn runner-up honors for the NBA Awards (MVP, DPOY, ROY, etc.) as well as some Low-Risk High-Reward picks for the gamblers. - Power Rankings with record predictions for the Western Conference- Rankings for the Eastern Conference- Brief talk about the Denver NuggetsLastly, we introduced two new semi-permanent fixtures to the podcast- Last week and the week before, Suns Mode went Merc Mode! As long as there is content, we will revisit the state of the Phoenix Mercury every week. We shall move as one, and my love for the Mercury is strong just like my love for the Suns. I hope you all feel the same. - The Suns Mode Parlay. Essentially, we will be picking a series of several moneylines hoping that we win money. I pick these games with pure objectivity, as if I were making the bets with someone else's money. If you trust me, let's win some money. We will do this every week starting with this episode.Remember to spread love and #ValleyExcellence, and definitely make sure to tune in to the Suns Mode podcast next Thursday, as we are back to the knitty-gritty. Much like you can never judge a book by its cover, you should never judge a podcast episode by its title. Recently, the Suns have provided us the most exciting news in weeks by signing 25-year-old forward Chandler Hutchison, a former first round draft pick. He is likely filling a two-way roster spot.Regarding Chandler Hutchison, we will be trying to figure out two things:- What made his value plummet from 22nd overall draft pick, to a two-way contract in the span of only three years?- What will he provide for the Suns? (expl. of two-way deals, comparison to others on team)As always, there are going to be surrounding topics for the show. First some thoughts and prayers sent Suns fan-favorite Cedric Ceballos' way, as he us currently dealing with COVID-19 in the ICU. - Free agency news.- Updating the trade rumor wire- A huge announcement at the end of the show. The guys take a look at the current lottery standings, reiterate the flattening odds, and also look at the strength of schedule for the bottom five teams in the league in the remaining games.Jordan and Matt answer a few questions about the possibility of landing the number one pick in this year's draft and having the opportunity of drafting Duke's Zion Williamson. Tony talks about how trading for Otto Porter Jr. has put the Bulls in a position to exit the conversation on top tier free agents the next two summers and the guys discuss when the decision was made. Do the Bulls have a clear direction and plan for the rebuild heading into year three or four? Do they need to have the rebuild all mapped out right now?The conversation continues by talking about what Zach LaVine's steady improvements since the month of November. What does Tony see in Zach LaVine's game that's different from the start of the season - most importantly, will it last? The guys discuss what LaVine's discussions will be like with Bulls management this summer and what he will demand as far as direction. Does Tony see a scenario where LaVine could ask out? The guys talk about some of the building blocks around this team including the insertion of Otto Porter Jr., what it means for Chandler Hutchison's growth as a player, Kris Dunn's role with this team going into next season, and how Lauri Markkanen can use the remain games to continue to develop his game. The guys talk about the point guard position and how the Bulls will address that need this summer, will it be through free agency or the draft? On today's episode of Locked On Bulls, Matt goes solo and breaks down the Bulls' Monday night loss to the East-leading Milwaukee Bucks. The conversation starts with a close look at the way Zach LaVine has increased his assist numbers while maintaining his efficient scoring streak and his growing chemistry with Lauri Markkanen. Matt notes the poor shooting night from Lauri, but discussed the ways in which the Finnish kid positively affected the game despite the 6-21 shooting. Notably, his continued success grabbing rebounds, and his willingness to put the ball on the floor to jump-start transition offense opportunities after corralling boards. In the second segment, Matt discusses Jim Boylen's latest attempt at a small-ball lineup from last night, which saw Otto Porter Jr. getting minutes at the 5. With Cristiano Felicio essentially being unusable in an NBA game, Boylen has started to use more small looks with Markkanen and now Porter at the center position for certain stretches. Unfortunately, the Bulls are so weak in their second unit that the Porter-Luwawu-Harrison-Selden-Arcidiacono experiment last night looked awful. But when the Bulls hopefully add some better depth to this roster, they should - with or without Boylen - continue to experiment with these small-ball kind of lineups. And finally, Matt wraps up the show questioning the latest head-scratching decision by Boylen and his staff to let an injured player keep playing. Kris Dunn took a nasty fall and landed on his backside. Despite being in visibly serious pain and taking a trip to the locker room, Dunn came back into the game in the 4th quarter. He looked immobile. Why was he out there? It's yet another example on the heels of Zach LaVine playing through a re-aggravated ankle sprain and Chandler Hutchison fighting through 41 minutes with a broken toe. For a team with just 13 wins nearing the All Star break, Matt asks: what is the point of this, and why is no one telling Boylen to stop? Learn more about your ad choices. Locked On Bulls is back with a fresh episode, the guys talk about the three biggest topics surrounding the Chicago Bulls this weekend including Chandler Hutchison's hairline fracture in his right toe, back-to-back home losses to the Clippers and Cavaliers, and Anthony Davis requesting a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans. The guys start with rookie forward Chandler Hutchison's injury revealed on Saturday. The guys discuss how the Bulls found out about Hutchison's acute injury to a sesamoid bone in his right foot which occurred in their loss to Atlanta on Wednesday night. The guys discuss how he was allowed to play 41-minutes against the Clippers on Friday, whether or not the Bulls were aware of the injury, why Jim Boylen's comments about his toughness to play through it was wrong, and how long it's going to keep the rookie wing out.Locked On Bulls dives into Friday night's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers - was it a good battle against a team looking to fight for a playoff spot? The guys think not so much. A team coming off four games in six nights on the road, stuck in traffic for two-hours before tip-off, and missing key players managed to pull off a win sleep walking against a Bulls team who could not close. The Bulls hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon for the final time, losing 104-101. A game in which the Cavaliers were actively trying to lose, the guys talk about the final five minutes in which Lauri Markkanen and Zach LaVine went silent. To wrap up the show, the guys spend the some time talking about the breaking news of the week - Anthony Davis has requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans according to multiple reports. Bulls fans have been dreaming of this day but Locked On Bulls brings the harsh reality of why the Bulls will not be players in a deal for him. You have stumbled across the best Chicago Bulls show on the air. The voice of true Chicago Bulls fans lies here in this show. Hosts Jordan Maly and Matt Peck provide you with a daily dose of Chicago Bulls news and stories. We are Locked On Bulls.Locked On Bulls kicks off the show talking about a poll Jordan ran last night, which player will have a better NBA career, Zach LaVine or Andrew Wiggins? Jordan explains why he feels in some sense they will always have a connection (whether they like it or not) and surprisingly Zach LaVine himself weighed in on the poll on Twitter. Matt explains the poll might be a bit bias from the combination of Bulls fans and Zach LaVine retweeting it, nonetheless the guys discuss their thoughts. It leads them into a conversation about how fans might be giving LaVine an unfair tag as a "me first" type player. The rest of the episode is dedicated to taking voicemails, texts, and tweets in our weekly segment of Bulls mailbag. Some of the topics discussed on today's show include not talking about Justin Holiday's trade value ever again, a conspiracy theory that Chicago hosting All-Star Game 2020 is directly linked with potentially landing Anthony Davis, a game of "would you rather" Bulls edition, realistically where does Chandler Hutchison fit in this season, and does Lauri Markkanen own the best nickname among his draft class? Hosts Jordan Maly and Matt Peck provide you with a daily dose of Chicago Bulls news and stories. We are Locked On Bulls.Locked On Bulls opens the show retouching on some of the Zach LaVine conversations going on around Bulls Nation. The guys spend the majority of the time talking about the impressive performance from Wendell Carter Jr. in Summer League already. What has been the most impressive part of his game thus far? The guys also talk about Antonio Blakeney and Chandler Hutchison. The guys find themselves talking about Rodney Hood, the Bulls reportedly being one of the three teams still in on his services. How do the Locked On Bulls guys feel about adding him to this core? Would that destroy their cap flexibility for 2019 and 2020? How does Hood fit on this Bulls team? Where would he play and some of the defensive/positional concerns about his game. The guys finish up by talking about what a Bobby Portis contract extension might look like and why that seems to be another top priority for the Bulls this offseason. How much is too much to invest in Portis, what's realistic, and why the Bulls do not want to risk him having him play on an expiring contract and head into free agency for nothing. The guys also discuss what the dialogue has been on restricted free agent David Nwaba. Why the market seems to have cooled on his services, favoring the Bulls to bring him back. Locked On Bulls is back with a full Friday episode, the guys kick off the show talking about the one topic going around Chicago: Jimmy Butler + Kyrie Irving. Jordan replays a bit from last week's episode when he initially inquired about the idea, the guys talk about the realistic possibility of a return for Butler. Are the relationships soured here in Chicago, is Butler and KAT's relationship really broken, Butler's ability to be No. 2 or 3 on a winning team. The guys spend the middle of the show talking about to expect from the Chicago Bulls Summer League team. Locked On Bulls runs through the roster, who might be important to keep an eye on, why Bulls fans should not overreact to performances from Wendell Carter or Chandler Hutchison, and why Antonio Blakeney might be the most entertaining watch in all of Summer League.Locked On Bulls wraps up the show discussing whether or not the interest from the Sacramento Kings for Zach LaVine is really as serious as reported. How far up the payroll would the Kings have to go for the Bulls to walk away? The guys discuss placing odds on attracting top free agents in 2019 or 2020 to the idea of investing in Zach LaVine's potential.Locked On Bulls also discuss possible sign-and-trade deals for RFA David Nwaba. What are the Bulls looking for in a deal and why they are not getting a first-round pick. Could a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder be in play? Jordan convinces Matt that taking on Carmelo Anthony's contract for one year could bring some heavy return without risking salary cap space for 2019 or 2020. Hosts Jordan Maly and Matt Peck provide you with a daily dose of Chicago Bulls news and stories. We are Locked On Bulls.Locked On Bulls is back for a full hour episode, the guys kick off the show with comments made by newly drafted big man Wendell Carter Jr.'s parents. The comments were made to the New York Post in which it seemed to reveal Carter's parents were unhappy and misguided by Coach Mike Krzyzewski and Duke. Wendell Carter took to Twitter to respond to some of the backlash, offering that the quotes were taken out of context. The guys discuss why they believe the player and the over arching conversation was not about Duke, but the NCAA. The guys also discuss why they would be uncomfortable with being told one thing and another happening. Should Bagley reclassifying two months before the season irritate players and parents? Why the guys believe that Carter's comments back up his honesty about wanting to win, putting the team first, and how it will translate into a positive for the Bulls. The guy spend the rest of the episode taking Bulls mailbag questions and voicemails from listeners. Do the guys think that the Bulls will run out the young core of Kris Dunn, Lauri Markkanen, Zach LaVine, Chandler Hutchison, and Wendell Carter from the start? Would the Bulls be interested in veteran free agents like Will Barton?  A variety of voicemails left include why Bulls fans need to stop with the Jabari Parker nonsense, who voted for Gar Forman, and a sales pitch on why Bulls fans should trust the rebuild.
