Podcast Opening  I have an important announcement to make today. This week we are beginning a two-month break on the Podcast and the Blog for the Next Chapter with Charlie. We will be most silent for the next two months, December 2023 thru January 2024. We will begin again the second week of February.   The time has come to Reconsider our purpose and our goals. For more than 9 years of blogs and 6 years of podcasts, our primary focus has been on In Search of Meaning, Adventure, and Awe. I am pleased with the work we have done. More than 300 podcasts and over 450 blogs.  However, as we approach a full decade of service, I feel that have grown significantly and I have learned even more about what I call “the purpose of life and the role of the fingerprint of God in all we do.” We are living in a culture of confusion. Something is missing in life. And most of us are not even sure what that is. It's time to talk about it. I intend to devote the next two months to creating a strategy for discussing how to Awaken within Each of Us a More Loving World. So today I have asked my dear friend, Wendy Hooper Ross, to partner with me in discussion as she interviews me regarding my mission in life and with the Next Chapter with Charlie.

From Uganda to American culture, this is a far ranging conversation with Charlie Hedges. Charlie and I are both on a quest for greater understanding and consciousness, and this conversation reflects that. It starts with Charlie's efforts with Wells of Water, a charity that provides clean water for rural Ugandan villages. Clean water changes everything for these villages. The women no longer spend hours a day trudging back and forth from a remote water source. The water is clean, and disease disappears. It means time for education. Charlie notes that:   Everyone I meet in Uganda is a happy and grateful person.   That happiness is a contrast with the trends we are seeing in the West where communities are disintegrating; people are increasingly isolated; drugs are rampant; and society has a distinctly material bent. Charlie speculates that   "is the downside of the American dream."   The American ethos is so future oriented, that today doesn't exist. That is exactly opposite of the rural mentality one finds in Uganda. Our conversation ranges from the life changing impact of local, clean water, to what it takes to live a meaningful life. I am on the autistic spectrum & have ADHD, and I have lived experience of going missing and growing up in care. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my flock of rare breed, primitive sheep, and my many plants. During 36 years with the Police and then at CEOP and the National Crime Agency as the Manager for Missing and Abducted Children, Charlie Hedges has amassed a wealth of practical and theoretical experience, nationally and internationally and was also responsible for writing national guidance for the UK Police on missing persons and search procedures. Since 2015 he has operated independently as Charlie Hedges Advisory, continuing to work in the UK and other countries. His focus is on finding new and better ways to safeguard children and adults, then sharing and implementing the solutions. This has led to the creation of the Missing Persons Information Hub (MPIH), providing a link to all aspects of missing persons.
