Divorce is not just a personal decision, it's actually a spiritual health crisis. And it's unfortunately rampant in society today. In this episode, I'm calling it what it really is: sin. God literally says in Scripture, “I hate divorce” (Malachi 2:16), yet our culture treats it like a self-care strategy. Christians are increasingly justifying what the Bible clearly condemns. Let's be clear: marriage is a covenant and walking away from it without biblical grounds is rebellion against God.Even with biblical grounds to divorce (such as in cases of abandonment or sexual immorality) God still prefers there be genuine repentance and genuine forgiveness. Meaning, no matter how "bad" it allegedly gets, God still suggests true apologies and true absolution. He wants that instead of bitterness and separation. Also, everyone seems to conveniently be forgetting about how divorce impacts the children. That is very wicked to not consider how it affects them.People have come at me with rudeness, bitterness, and every excuse under the sun as to why they "had to" get divorced, but none of that will stop me from speaking the truth. You did not "have to" get divorced. Not most of you. I'm not here to please people. I'm here to honor God and uphold what His Word says, even when it's uncomfortable or "comes off mean." Unfriendly reminder: I win every single battle and every single war because I fight on the side of righteousness, and you probably don't. Tune in as we break down the lies, the "justifications" and the tragic consequences of treating divorce like an option instead of the absolute last resort.Marriage is a holy covenant between one man, one woman, and God.Hope this helps!--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

This week on Family Policy Matters, host Traci DeVette Griggs welcomes Timothy Carney, author of Family Unfriendly: How Our Culture Made Raising Kids Much Harder Than It Needs to Be, to discuss how America has created an increasingly family-unfriendly culture and what parents can do to combat it. This episode originally aired in March of 2024.
Episode #341: As the military has suffered setbacks in the field, its use of indiscriminate aerial bombing has only increased, taking a deadly toll on civilians and leaving a legacy of trauma for survivors. In this episode, we take you inside a conversation with resistance artists and researchers who have been working with A New Burma, through their exhibitions in Thailand titled “When We See the Planes.” These events shed light on the tragic effects of air strikes – and people's refusal to succumb to this campaign of terror. By using art, performance, sound, and storytelling, these exhibitions serve as a beacon to highlight violations of international law and establish a record for transitional justice, while remembering those who have lost their lives. The events showcase the works of about twenty artists, including frontline Myanmar photographers, put together with the help of Thai curators. “When we do this kind of work, we want to it to be empathy-driven,” says Hnin, the founder of A New Burma. “We want to talk about this topic, not to give knowledge, but to speak to your heart.”

This week, it is our pleasure to welcome author Tim Carney to The Hamilton Review Podcast! Tim Carney is an award-winning author, journalist, scholar, and speaker. He has covered culture and politics for nearly 25 years, has written four books, has spoken in cities around the U.S. (and even overseas), and has published thousands of columns and magazine articles. From electoral politics, lobbying, and crony capitalism, to culture, faith, and family, Tim's work explores and explains a broad swath of the American landscape. In this conversation, Tim discusses his new book, "Family Unfriendly." Our culture tells parents there's one best way to raise kids: enroll them in a dozen activities, protect them from trauma, and get them into the most expensive college you can. If you can't do that, don't bother. How is that going? Record rates of anxiety, depression, medication, debts, loneliness and more. In Family Unfriendly, bestselling author and Washington Examiner columnist Timothy P. Carney says it's time to end this failed experiment in overparenting. Have more kids, have more fun, cancel the travel soccer games, let your kids wander off, and give them deeper sources of meaning than material success. This is an old-fashioned view, but every day the evidence validates it. Drawing on rigorous research—both as a reporter and as a dad of six—Carney demonstrates why modern parenting is so misguided. The high standards set for modern American parenting are unrealistic and setting parents—and our kids—up to fail. Don't miss this important conversation! Tim Carney is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, the senior columnist for the Washington Examiner, and the author of four books, most recently Alienated America and the forthcoming Family Unfriendly. He has written in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Atlantic, National Review, and many other newspapers and magazines. Tim has appeared on CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, CNBC, and PBS Newshour. Tim and his wife Katie raise six children in the Washington, D.C., area. Newt talks with bestselling author Timothy Carney about his new book, "Family Unfriendly: How Our Culture Made Raising Kids Much Harder Than It Needs To Be". Carney argues that modern American parenting standards are unrealistic and contribute to record rates of anxiety, depression, and loneliness in children. He criticizes the culture of over-parenting and suggests that it's time to end this failed experiment. Carney also discusses the impact of technology, the fear of crime, and the pressure to succeed on parenting. He highlights the declining birth rates in the U.S. and globally, attributing it to factors such as career-focused lifestyles, housing costs, and a shift in cultural values. Carney suggests that policy changes, particularly in housing, could help support families and reverse the trend of declining birth rates.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Katie was cyberstalker after accepting a Facebook friend request from a woman she had never met in person. Initially, their messages were amicable, but they soon dove into personal topics, including emotional and mental struggles. Tension escalated when Katie started receiving messages from the woman's boyfriend, expressing concerns about their relationship. When Katie advised him to leave if he felt it was toxic, she triggered the woman's retaliation. This included menacing social media posts, fake reviews on Katie's business page, and messages sent to her friends. Tim and Marshall discuss the cultural, economic, political, and technological roots of America's falling birth rate, the gap between the number of children that families wish to have and the actual number they have, government's role in family formation and social policy, the role of class and region in parenting struggles, and the ways that individual parents can make navigate an increasingly difficult social environment.

He highlights the impact of family-unfriendly parenting culture and the pressure to constantly supervise and maximize every moment with enrichment activities. Carney emphasizes the importance of creating family-friendly communities with walkability, playgrounds, and support for free-range parenting. Carney also emphasizes the importance of sacrifice and building a life where sacrifice for others is easy as the path to happiness.
