In all likelihood, both head coaches, Mike Zimmer and Matt Nagy will be fired within 24 hours of the final whistle. There is the possibility that both have already been notified too. There are also expected changes coming at the general manager level of both squads as well. Those factors, along with players who will not be on the team next season, make a game that only determines draft position, interesting. Bears QB Justin Fields is out on Covid IR so Andy Dalton will start against the Vikes. Zimmer has said Kirk Cousins will start along with all the other starters healthy enough too. They are treating this as a regular game and trying to win. Should they? This is a game full of business decisions from the owners to the players. To play hard or not, to win or not? Theme #1 - Justin Jefferson calling out the Vikings Jefferson said he tried to inject some life into his teammates against the Rams. Said they lacked energy. This is a sad statement for the 2021 Vikings. The Rams game was a big game - win and they took a big step to make the playoffs. How can Viking players lack energy in a game that is so important for the team? If the Vikings don't play with more fire, more energy, and more urgency at Lambeau on Sunday, the season will be over. They won't beat the Packers playing with a half-hearted effort. Theme #2 - Vikings Special teams edge Offensively and defensively - TTFW has the edge on the Vikings. Special teams are a different story. The Vikings hold a large edge there - even after giving up a punt return TD against LA My prediction - Kwangwu gets his third kickoff return TD of the season against Green Bay and Mason Crosby will miss another important field goal. Special teams could keep the Vikings in this game and be an important equalizer Sunday. Theme #3 - Mike Zimmer's last stand? Viking fans have been on a Mike Zimmer watch for weeks now. The fans seem to have had enough of the coach and maybe some of the players, too. He's survived so far but will a loss to TTFW be the end for him? I think it will - especially if the Vikings are not competitive in this one. If the Vikes lose the team is officially eliminated from the playoffs.  That will be two years in a row with a losing record. With NFL teams that have a head coaching vacancy allowed to interview candidates as of Dec. 28, firing Zimmer after a loss at Lambeau makes sense. They can get a head start on finding their next HC and not miss out on any candidates they want. And it doesn't impact their playoff push because they will have been eliminated. It's really minimal disruption for the team to go with an interim guy for the final game of the season. I expect the Wilf's to pull the trigger if the Vikings lose to TTFW on Sunday. There it is… the news every Minnesota Vikings fan was expecting at some point this season. Vikes' starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins has tested positive ahead of the big game with the division rival Green Bay Packers. He has been put on Covid IR and not be available. Sean Mannion is the backup, but he is already on Covid IR, but just cleared off of it today. Vikings announce Mannion will start Sunday night. That means no Kellen Mond or Kyle Sloter barring injury for all the fans that wanted either. Vegas, took the game off the books upon the news. The Packers were 6.5 point favorites before. Expect that to drastically rise shortly. ...And it did, with the Vikes now being 13 point underdogs. Mike Zimmer in his press conference praises Sean Mannion ahead of the game. Kirk Cousins raised eyebrows early in the 2021 campaign when he came out publicly as unvaccinated, and saying that he would stay so. There was the whole press conference about plexiglass boxes and meeting under the goal posts in December if needed. Mike Zimmer had plead with the team to get vaccinated, and Kirk was one who refused. Your Minnesota Vikings stay on the road, this time matching up with the Detroit Lions in their color rush silver uniforms. The Vikes are looking to get back to .500 once again and keep their hopes to slide into the playoffs alive. Will they? Nope. The Lions are looking to get their first win. Will they? Yes, they did. The beloved Purple are short some very key players, especially on defense. Eric Kendricks is out, along with Camryn Bynum who backs up the safety spot and comes in for dime situations. There is also Patrick Peterson who's been on Covid IR. He could possibly, theoretically return with a second negative test. Will he? Nope. Then if the questionable of Anthony Barr and Mackensie Alexander don't actually play, stopping even the Lions could be tough. Barr was out, but Mac was in. Over on the offensive side, the team will miss RB Dalvin Cook and LT Christian Darrisaw. Obviously Alexander Mattison will take over as the primary runner, and hopefully Kene Nwangwu will be spelling him. The only problem there is that Kene is questionable with an illness. He played. Are you looking forward to seeing what Nwangwu can do from the backfield? We at Climbing The Pocket sure are. With Darrisaw out, the Vikings are up to there shenanigans again, shuffling the O-line. They moved Oli Udoh from RG to LT, Garrett Bradbury will resume his starting role at center, and Mason Cole will slid to RG. How will that go? Meh. It could go extremely well or horrifically bad. What was your guess? Both teams are coming off of 2 straight wins and see hope. Kyle Shanahan with Jimmy Garoppolo as his game manager will take their run heavy game against Mike Zimmer's defense that has a depleted defensive line. Then there is WR Deebo Samuel that can burn you from just about any alignment. The corners will have their hands full for sure. Can the Vikings grab the victory? Here are the themes for the show: We'll go over the usual stats to start - strengths and weaknesses of each team. Loss of Dalvin Tomlinson Tomlinson on COVID IR. He's been a key part of the defensive line - playing about 58% of the defensive snaps - third-most on the D-line. More of a run stopper than pass rusher. Kyle Shanahan knows how to run an offense and his running game is always good - no matter who gets the ball. Could be a big loss for the run defense, and we'll see Sheldon Richardson and James Lynch playing a lot inside. they will have to play well. Deebo Samuel effect Forget George Kittle, Deebo Samuel has to be the focus of the Vikings defensive gameplan. He makes this offense go. Dual threat - they use him as a running back and a WR and he's been damn good at both this season. A YAC machine with string hands and very tough to tackle. Vikings don't have an obvious answer for him on defense - too fast for the LBs and safeties and none of the Vikings corners are known for their tackling. Packers had success on Sunday targeting Xavier Woods and forcing him to cover WRs. It didn't go well. I'm sure Samuel and Shanahan noticed. Vikings Deep passing game - a new philosophy or mirage Vikings offense continued to be aggressive against GB.  Kirk Cousins made 14 deep throws - four more than any other QB last week. It's been successful, and feeding Justin Jefferson (with help from Adam Thielen) has paid dividends. Vikings offense looks as sharp as it has all season. Will they keep it up? Could down to how the O-line handles the 49ers d-line.  And how Christian Darrisaw handles Nick Bosa - who has 10 sacks and is a phenomenal player - great get-off, strong, an array of pass rushing moves and never gives up. In 2019 the Vikings offensive line got manhandled by the 49ers d-line. Both units have some different personnel now. But the Vikings Oline has to win or at least battle the 49ers front to a stalemate for the Vikings to win this one. The Minnesota Vikings are back to 5-5 after the win against the Green Bay Packers, but there is no time to let the effort wane. When the guys jump into COVID considerations, they cover how to handle league money (19:28), what to do about COVID IR (24:13), using emergency players (25:53), setting conditional lineups (28:20), employing default lineups (30:00), tolling contracts (33:16), dealing with NFL COVID opt-outs (34:55), and determining draft order (36:39) in a shortened season, or no season at all. Brian Drake is quickly making a name for himself as the host of the Fantasy Football Hustle podcast and writer for Fighting Chance Fantasy.Today we cover his journey into podcasting, from "the worst job in America" (radio sales) to pairing up with his co-host, Dwain McFarland.  We talk about networking and connecting through Twitter, and Brian's "Hustle" moment that made all the difference.Brian talks about joining a podcast network and what that's meant to the show, and why he finds the podcast space so much more hospitable than the current radio landscape.Specific to 2020, I ask Brian about the challenges of doing a Fantasy Football podcast when there's so much uncertainty around the upcoming season, and he explains the idea of a "Covid IR spot" on team rosters in home leagues.   And I'd be remiss if I didn't ask him to make some NFL predictions, you know, assuming there's a season (which he believes there will be).What's a Scott Fish Bowl?
