It's time for our Seahawks One Series with ROB STATON (BBC Sheffield) We break the rules just a bit and get Rob's thoughts on the Rams adding Myles Garrett and whether or not he thinks the Seahawks will make a move to counter. There were rumors that DeMarcus Lawrence was going to retire in the offseason; how big of a blow would that have been to this Seahawks defense? Is there any concern that Lawrence is close to hitting a wall? Would this team have had the success they did without DeMarcus Lawrence? :30- It's time for the Baseball Brunch starring Cole Young and featuring Dan Wilson. So, what did we learn? This is how the Mariners win- good to great starting pitching, good to great relief pitching and enough runs to get the job done and Cole Young is really good! :45- The Rams trading for Myles Garrett has everyone talking… See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We react to our favorite things we heard from guests like Ryan Divish, Jeff Passan and Brian Nemhauser that we talked to this week. Then, we discuss the M's series with the Diamondbacks this weekend, the MLB's salary cap proposal and DeMarcus Lawrence's arrival to OTA's in Need to Know. Plus, we take your calls, as we do every Friday.

Today we're looking at the 2026 Seattle Seahawks defense and going through an "up, down, or same" exercise across key position groups. DeMarcus Lawrence was at practice today. Was the retirement buzz even a slight possibility? Safety sparks some early debate as we kick off the look across position groups. The loss of Coby Bryant matters, but Bud Clark's upside, plus staples like Julian Love and the role of Nick Emmanwori, keep the arrow trending steady with potential lift. Cornerback draws some concern after Tariq Woolen's departure, with Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe anchoring a thinner depth chart that leans on rookies and unproven options. The interior line, with Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Jarran Reed, and rotational help from Riley Mills, has us wondering who may be on the outside looking in when it comes time for cuts. We close with edge and linebacker, and look ahead to the importance of maintaining premium interior disruption and disciplined run defense to keep the championship-level unit rolling next season. Our Seattle Seahawks are kicking off free agency with five starters and two more key players potentially hitting the open market in two weeks at the start of the new league year. We run through some of the challenges general manager John Schneider faces with keeping each player and take a look at some of the projected salaries by The Athletic and Pro Football Focus. Kenneth Walker may have the biggest gap between how Seahawks fans would value him vs how he may be valued by another team, but a close second could be Boye Mafe. Mafe is considered one of the top 5 edge rushers in free agency, but his play time was limited in 2025 due to the play of Demarcus Lawrence and Uchenna Nwosu and Derick Hall. The amount of potential turnover in the secondary area of concern. Tariq Woolen, Josh Jobe and Coby Bryant are all expected to see contracts upward of $10 million per year and closer to $20 million per year in the case of Woolen. Is that the best use of salary cap dollars to try and keep all three? How would we prioritize? We take a look at the exclusive rights free agents and what that designation means as well as the restricted free agents and the one starter who stands out. In the second half of the show, we talk about potential rule changes (and the lack of rule changes) that are being discussed in Indianapolis. We could see a greater emphasis placed on officiating from the booth than on the field for certain calls. We call out the Los Angeles Rams and Augusta National on news that came out this week about both. Rumors are rampant during this time of year with the NFL Scouting Combine underway. The way of the world these days allows for misinformation to fly. Are we really to believe Demarcus Lawrence could retire this offseason, even though he still has time left on his contract? Plus, which sports do overtime right and where can they be fixed? Gregg Bell, The Tacoma News Tribune joins Ian from Indy to give us the lay of the land at the NFL Scouting Combine. Mike Macdonald told Gregg he was under the impression that Demarcus Lawrence, Jarran Reed and the veterans are planning on running it back for next year. John Schneider is focusing on the free agents to be, namely Kenneth Walker III and Riq Woolen, as their agents are in Indy as well. Schneider's staff will focus on the actual workouts taking place the rest of his week. Finally, as of now, how aggressive should we expect the Seahawks to be when it comes to trading picks with only 4 in the draft? The Daily Power Play! Touching on what Gregg said earlier, it sounds as though it'll be difficult to resign Ken Walker III. The salary cap is always something that can inhibit a signing like that, but the Seahawks have space this year. Which sport has the best overtime rules and which one has the worst? A recap of the Super Bowl. What were the best commercials and did you watch Bad Bunny at halftime? DeMarcus Lawrence finally got his Super Bowl ring after leaving the Cowboys.
In this episode of JacquesTalk we discuss the Seahawks' 29-13 win over New England. We talked about the Seahawks' defense and Drake Maye's struggles. We discuss how far the Cowboys are from winning a title and Bad Bunny's halftime show.
The Seattle Seahawks enter Super Bowl Sunday as heavy favorites against the New England Patriots, and the confidence level among the 12s is high. The Patriots path to victory appears razor-thin, relying heavily on Drake Maye's mobility, hopes for multiple Seattle turnovers, and the chance that Jaxon Smith-Njigba can somehow be stopped by this New England defense that has only faced two of the league's best wideouts this season. The Pats offensive line faces a nightmare matchup against Seattle's defensive front led by Leo Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence. The Patriots postseason run—featuring wins over injury-depleted teams and bottom-tier offensive lines—pales in comparison to Seattle's gauntlet through the NFC West. Nick Emmanwori sustained an ankle injury this week, which does provide some concern for the defense. But we've seen how capable the depth of this defense was in dealing with Emmanwori's absense earlier in the season as well as the injury to Julian Love. Mike Macdonald should be able to plan around any limitations by the rookie defender. In an episode earlier this week, we enjoyed a guest with thoughful football analysis. In this show, we're getting into 'Know Your Rival' mode with one of the Patriots bitter rivals. Dolphins fan Sam Marcoux is back on the show to talk about everything we need to know about the Pats and their entitled fanbase. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's impending departure to the Raiders has loomed over the leadup to this game. What potential impact could it actually have in this matchup? The NFL Honors ceremony was happening as we recorded and Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the only one to be awarded one of the top honors -- offensive player of the year. We discuss some of the wildest narratives and idiotic lines of questions in the Do Better Segment. Better at life honors go out to a group of monks and their walk for peace as well as the NFL for sending our NFC West rivals into a dangerous country to start the 2026 season. The Seattle Seahawks are heading to the Super Bowl after a 31-27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at Lumen Field. Sam Darnold came up big when it mattered most, connecting with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for touchdown before halftime after taking a crushing hit. Kenneth Walker III punched in the opening score, and the offense executed a masterful five-minute drive that helped close out the game. The defense came up big on a critical fourth-and-four stop, with Julian Love and DeMarcus Lawrence dropping into coverage to stuff the Rams attempt—a play Sean McVay dismissed as "luck" in his post-game comments. Riq Woolen's costly taunting penalty on third down helped give the Rams an opening, leading to an immediate Puka Nacua touchdown. Cooper Kupp proved instrumental in the Seahawks' success, making key third-down conversions against his former team after the Rams organization reportedly urged other teams to lowball him in free agency (which we later cover in the Do Better segment). In the second half of the show, we look ahead to Super Bowl matchup against the New England Patriots. The Seahawks face a Drake Maye-led offense that excels under pressure but lacks some of the firepower of previous opponents. The franchise has a chance to exorcise demons from Super Bowl XLIX and claim the Lombardi Trophy on the 49ers' home turf in Santa Clara, completing one of the most unexpected and satisfying seasons in recent memory. The Seattle Seahawks dominated the San Francisco 49ers from start to finish. From the first play kick return touchdown by Rashid Shaheed to the relentless dominance by the Seahawks' defense, every moment of this game showcased why Seattle is a Super Bowl contender. We discuss how the defense, led by performances from Leonard Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence, shut down San Francisco, holding them to just nine total points over two games. We highlight the efficiency of Sam Darnold, the rushing performance of Kenneth Walker III, and talk about the electric atmosphere at Lumen Field that undoubtedly played a part in the Seahawks' victory. Bob and Dave break down how impactful the matchup of Mike Macdoanld and Kyle Shanahan will be on the Seahawks Divisional Round rematch against the 49ers, they look at the effect DeMarcus Lawrence has had on the defense this season, they discuss whether the trash talk between these teams can bring the hate back to this rivalry, and they break down why Nico Hoerner could become a priority for the Mariners this offseason.
Dave and Lefko are joined by Seahawks Tight End AJ Barner to get his thoughts on how the offense has been able to overcome some slow starts, and success of the “Barn Yard” play, and what it’s like inside their tight knit locker room, they bring you the biggest stories around the NFL, including what the 49ers win over the Bears means for the playoff picture, and they break down how much of an impact DeMarcus Lawrence has had on the defense this season.
RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot break down the massive Seahawks–49ers matchup, laying out the stark difference between winning the NFC's top seed versus entering the playoffs as a road-bound wild card. They debate San Francisco's battered defense, Seattle's dominant defense, and whether Sam Darnold can rediscover the early-season form that once put him in MVP conversations—especially after scoring just 18 total first-half points over the last four games. Mitch floats a classic emotional hedge: bet the 49ers money-line so a Seahawks win feels priceless and a loss at least comes with consolation cash. Mitch and Brady Henderson break down Seattle's 27–10 win over Carolina, praising another elite defensive performance while sounding alarms about the offense's habit of slow starts and turnovers, with just 18 first-half points over the last four games. They preview Saturday night's NFC West showdown in Santa Clara, weighing a battered 49ers defense against Brock Purdy's red-hot offense and debating which version of Sam Darnold shows up. The segment closes with Taco Time honors for DeMarcus Lawrence and Zach Charbonnet, as Seattle stands one win away from the NFC's No. 1 seed and a first-round bye. Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch for a wide-ranging College Football Playoff preview, diagnosing Clemson's 7–6 collapse as the moment NIL and the portal finally "happened" to Dabo Swinney, and reacting with surprise to Kyle Whittingham leaving Utah for Michigan as a potential cleanup hire. Neuheisel breaks down all four CFP games, backing Ohio State to survive Miami, Texas Tech to upset Oregon, Indiana to knock off Alabama, and Ole Miss to take down Georgia. He locks in Ole Miss plus the points as his official pick, staying hot at 8–6 against the spread while handing out Taco Time honors along the way. Mike Macdonald joins Brock and Salk to recap the Seahawks huge win over the Rams last night, he describes how incredible the atmosphere was in the stadium, the Rams being so aggressive on 4th down early, how Sam Darnold performed, DeMarcus Lawrence and Leonard Williams importance in a mentally challenging game, the plan on the two point conversions, whether he knew that was a backward pass or not, and the overtime plan.
Mike Macdonald joins Brock and Salk to discuss the Seahawks shutout win over Minnesota, how important DeMarcus Lawrence has been to this team, what his defense did best, what problems Minnesota's defense presented and how they shut down JSN, where he feels they are at with establishing his culture. Plus, some injury updates.
RUNDOWN Time for a post-Thanksgiving catch-up — from Hotshot's massive Bonnie Lake feast (and industrial-sized leftovers) to Mitch explaining why he avoids other people's stuffing, small talk, and social gatherings altogether. The guys 'roll' into a playful celebration of area code 360, spotlighting surprising celebrity ties: Sam Elliott's Clark College days, Hilary Swank's Bellingham childhood, The Rock's Vancouver roots, and of course Kurt Cobain — whose Aberdeen home, schools, and legacy still anchor the region. Mitch and Hotshot mourn Washington's deflating rivalry loss to Oregon, wondering what's happened to Damon Williams over the last few weeks and whether Jed Fisch's 8–4 season is real progress or just a tiny baby step. They pivot to the Seahawks' 26–0 shutout of a completely overmatched Vikings team led by one-and-done starter Max Broer, raising fresh concerns about Sam Darnold, a sputtering passing game, and what—if anything—you can actually learn from a win like that. Mitch then slips into full "Mr. Playoffs" mode, mapping out the Rams–Seahawks tiebreaker hell. Brady and Jacson join Mitch to break down Seattle's emphatic 26–0 shutout of Minnesota — the team's first since 2015 — powered by five takeaways, four sacks, and total defensive domination of an undrafted rookie QB. While the win keeps Seattle tied atop the NFC West, all three acknowledge the troubling offensive trend. The crew debates whether this defense — with Ernest Jones ascending, DeMarcus Lawrence wrecking pockets, Reek Woolen surging, and reinforcements like Julian Love near return — is good enough to carry a sputtering offense deep into January. Rick joins Mitch to dissect Washington's season-ending loss to Oregon — highlighting Damon Williams' late-year regression, disorganized reads, and off-timed footwork, while crediting Dante Moore for outplaying him in a game UW needed. They walk through the wild coaching carousel (Lane Kiffin to LSU? Will Ole Miss even let him coach the playoff?) and unravel the tangled playoff math: whether the Ohio State–Indiana loser still deserves a bye, how an Alabama loss would knock them out, and why Texas Tech's "purchased darlings" have a real shot to win it all. RUNDOWN Mitch solves last week's "mafia lookalike" mystery — listeners decide he's a dead ringer for The Sopranos' Michael Imperioli. The guys riff through Goodfellas lore, Seahawks' second straight blowout win, and Von Miller's hilarious regret about choosing Washington over Seattle ("it's like turning down a girl who became a movie star"). Heartfelt condolences to the family of Lenny Wilkens, celebrating the Hall of Famer's legacy as both player and coach — and his decades as the Pacific Northwest's ultimate basketball statesman. Then it's back to football as the guys revel in another stress-free Seahawks blowout, highlighted by two identical sack-fumble touchdowns from Tyrese Knight and DeMarcus Lawrence. Mitch welcomes back Brady Henderson and Jacson Bevens for another Seahawks No-Table after a 44-22 dismantling of the Cardinals. The crew marvels at a team that suddenly looks like a legitimate Super Bowl contender, while debating the sloppy second half and the emerging run-game breakthrough. They dig into injury updates on Ernest Jones, and Jarran Reed, the trade for Rashid Shaheed, and the defense's uncanny "next-man-up" magic under Mike Macdonald. Mitch reconnects with Rick Neuheisel, presented by Taco Time Northwest, to unpack a wild week in college football — starting with Washington's shocking collapse in Madison. Rick calls it a "disaster," offers perspective on Jed Fisch's road woes, and shares how leadership, not logistics, separates winners from whiners. From there, the conversation races across the national landscape: Penn State's heartbreak at Happy Valley, Texas Tech's oil-fueled rise, and which Group of Five team might crash the playoff. Then Neuheisel dives into Lincoln Riley's number-swap trickery — calling it "legal but unethical" — before handing out Taco Time honors. Mitch reconvenes the Seattle Kraken No-Table with RJ Eskanos and Dylan Travers of Emerald City Hockey for the team's first check-in of the season. Despite a solid early record and a near-top Pacific Division standing, the panel wonders how sustainable it really is. RJ notes that the offense remains among the league's weakest, while Dylan credits new head coach Lane Lambert for installing a defense-first system that maximizes effort and structure.
