In this episode, we talk with Ru Callender, author of What Remains: Life, Death, and the Human Art of Undertaking. Ru shares his personal experience with profound childhood loss to becoming a self-proclaimed radical undertaker. We also discuss the impact of grief at different life stages, how participation in funerals can be helpful for children, and reimagining rituals to accurately reflect the life of the person who died. Main topics: Parental Loss and Early Grief: Ru reflects on the loss of his father at age 7 and his mother in his 20s, sharing how these defining losses shaped his perspective on death and grief. Boarding School and Emotional Austerity: The impact of being sent away shortly after his father's death. Becoming a Radical Undertaker: After a chance encounter with a TV program, Ru was inspired to challenge conventional funeral practices and embrace more personal, inclusive rituals. Children and Grief: Why including children in funerals can be helpful, offering them tangible ways to process and revisit their grief. Radical Funeral Planning: Ru's vision for end-of-life ceremonies, including his own desire for a midsummer funeral pyre, and how he helps families create ceremonies that resonate deeply. The Role of Grief in Life: How grief manifests and resurfaces, and the creative ways Ru has processed his own grief through rituals and art. The Worker Protection Act 2023 comes into force on 26 October 2024, imposing a new, proactive duty on all employers across the UK to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. With at least 1 in 5 men and nearly half of all women experiencing sexual harassment at work, this new compliance duty is an important step employers must prepare for. The new “preventative duty” shifts beyond reacting to complaints and requires employers to take steps to prevent harassment from occurring in the first place. Critically, the meaning of reasonable steps will vary from company to company, meaning employers will have to prove they have conducted a thorough risk assessment and understood what proactive steps look like in their business. In this episode, VinciWorks compliance experts will guide you through the process of complying with the Worker Protection Act. From assessing the risk of sexual harassment in the workplace to tracking incidents and customising training, this free, one-hour episode will make sure your office is ready to fight back against sexual harassment. This podcast will cover: The Worker Protection Act 2023 and its obligations on employers What sexual harassment in the workplace is Undertaking harassment risk assessments Using data to identify worrying trends before they come problems The meaning of proactive duty and reasonable steps in your organisation Implementing policies and procedures to prevent harassment Please note the podcast contains video recordings that you are about to listen to that discuss sensitive topics which some listeners may find upsetting.

For all of us there comes a day which is the end of the line, but how we are dispatched changes with the times. It would be unusual for a person in Ypsilanti today to die in a boiler explosion or to be run over by a train, but such events were common in the nineteenth century. Nobody in either time period would likely be crucified or fall on their sword as might have happened in the first century Roman Empire; everything has its time and its place. In this episode we'll have a conversation with historian and circulation clerk emeritus Jerome Drummond about the culture and institutions related to death and dying in 19th Century Ypsilanti. In today's episode, we're marking a special occasion – my birthday falling on April 8th, coinciding with the start of a significant new decade in my life. As I reflect on the past ten years, I'm filled with excitement and gratitude for the numerous accomplishments and growth opportunities. I've experienced. I strongly encourage engaging in a similar reflection exercise to foster personal growth and appreciation for one's journey. Self-reflection has been instrumental in my journey, particularly in recognizing the transformative power of practices like yoga in overcoming challenges and fostering personal growth. Undertaking a decade review prompts gratitude and sets the stage for future aspirations, empowering us to embrace new opportunities with curiosity and openness. Vocalizing desires and sharing them with others facilitates manifestation and growth while setting intentions and releasing stress promotes openness and flow in life. Embracing self-love, acknowledging achievements, and finding value in reflection promote growth, gratitude, and fulfillment. So, let's celebrate our proud moments, share our reflections, and continue this journey of growth and self-discovery together. And don't forget to like, subscribe, and leave a review to share your proud moments with us! Love and light, Amy Robeson

The Statue of Liberty was inspired by Nubian funerary statues, making her likeness more akin to ancient Egypt than to more modern Rome, which itself certainly inspired the Lady in the form of their goddess Libertas. Roman and Greek architecture can be seen all throughout the western world, espeially at the U.S. District of Columbia. Egyptian antiquities played, as with many other powerful cultures, a significant role in the forming of now iconic 'American symbols' too, including the Eagle or Phoenix. The pyramid on each dollar harkens to the ancient world, as does the Eye of Providence, and the various latin phrases Annuit cœptis, E Pluribus Unum, and Novus ordo seclorum - 'he favors our undertaking', 'out of many one', and 'new order of the ages'. The masonic influence in the formation of the United States is either confusing, irrelevant, or sensational, but it is rarely if ever viewed in its proper context.FREE ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachingsTwitter: https://twitter.com/TST___RadioWEBSITE, BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE YEARLY: http://thesecretteachings.infoPaypal: rdgable@yahoo.comCashApp: $rdgableBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/tstradioSUBSCRIBE TO NETWORK: http://aftermath.mediaEMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.com
What a surprising year it has been. Blake and JB dive into the craziness that is Indiana Football.
In this episode of the Define Success Podcast, Matt Lupi recounts an extraordinary achievement alongside his companions, Matt Worthington and Richard Gilpin, as they collectively conquered the formidable challenge of completing 1,010 pull-ups in a mere 5 hours. Employing a strategic approach, the trio executed 3 pull-ups every minute on the minute, showcasing both physical prowess and mental resilience throughout the grueling endeavor. As the trio battled fatigue and the tempting prospect of surrender, a powerful mantra resonated in their minds: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." This profound insight encapsulates the essence of their journey—a testament to the indomitable spirit that emerges when individuals unite for a common goal. Undertaking such a physical and mental feat alone would border on the impossible, and even if achieved, the victory would be hollow and devoid of shared triumph. Instead, these comrades not only conquered the challenge but did so in the company of friends, fostering an atmosphere of mutual support and accountability. The result? A resounding success fueled by the collective strength and inspiration drawn from one another. This episode delves deep into the transformative power of community in the pursuit of success. It underscores the discouraging and lonely nature of solitary endeavors, emphasizing the inherent risk of failure. The narrative passionately advocates for the life-altering impact of surrounding oneself with a positive and supportive community. Indeed, the key takeaway is clear: your journey towards success is infinitely enriched when shared with good people who uplift and propel you forward. In summary, this Define Success Podcast episode illuminates the significance of communal support, conveying a powerful message about the intrinsic connection between achievement and the community that surrounds us.
