Corey Grant was born in Joliet, Illinois. He attended Norfolk State University and Virginia where he received his BA in Communications. After graduating and working for NBC, he decided that film was his ultimate goal and he moved to Washington, DC to attend Howard University to receive his Masters in Film. While attending Howard, he founded New Breed Entertainment and wrote, produced and directed his first feature film, HIP HOP TASK FORCE. The film was picked up fro domestic distribution after a limited theatrical run all funded by scholarship money. It proved successful and set up the next step in advancing both Grant and New Breed Entertainment. After graduation he moved to Hollywood to take his film career to the next level. He wrote, produced and directed the follow up to Hip Hop Task Force with the sequel STUDIO which was picked up by Warner Bros Home Video and released in 2007. Looking to take things to the next level, Corey wrote and and directed DYSFUNCTIONAL FRIENDS, his third feature which was released theatrically and has garnered rave reviews and success on DVD and VOD. The movie has gone on to cult hit status among African Americans for the all star cast and it's high end comedy with lightly placed drama. His follow up BIGFOOT: THE LOST COAST TAPES, saw Grant go in a completely different direction as he entered the mainstream horror arena. The found footage thriller was received well as it was picked up for worldwide distribution and was released in the fall of 2012. Master P has been making his rounds about his new film I Got The Hook Up 2. He recently dropped into the Breakfast Club and on other shows like it to spread the gospel about supporting black films. Master P has been a staple in the american entertainment scene since the mid nineties. Master P wanted the entertainment community to know that black film ownership and black business ownership is a must for our community. "We need to support black owned projects he says!"This podcast talks about why Master P, and so many other entertainment industry stars forget to tell the entertainment community how they got rich, and who was behind their path to riches. So, when you holler we need our own production companies etc. without saying who owns and controls the distribution you are really cutting your own wrist. Master P intentions are good, but no one talks about the control that these corporations have over manufacturing, and distributions which makes it nearly impossible for black owned film, music, and television companies to prosper without going directly to the people who have made it their business to keep the keys to the empires they built. This podcast addresses why some of, if not all, of what Master P's is saying is somewhat flawed and what should really be done to empower the film music and television industry.
