Taking a parachute and jumping is exactly what three volunteers from the Clare branch of the Irish Red Cross will be doing later this year! In August, they will take part in a parachute jump to raise funds for the Irish Red Cross. A coffee morning will be held this Saturday, to raise funds for the jump. The Clare branch of the Irish Red cross is urging the public to be cautious after a member's phone was hacked by scammers who proceeded to 'seek donations' from his contacts. Over the weekend, a service user was contacted by a man purporting to be a driver with the local branch of the Red Cross and was asked for a donation to fund the community transport service. In this instance, the service user knew the Red Cross driver well and recognised that the scammer had attempted to steal his identity. Treasurer with the Clare branch of the Irish Red Cross, James Lafferty, is reminding people that the charity will never ring seeking money.
