In this episode of Kliq This, the conversation kicks off with a look at modern medical marvels as the hosts dive into how certain weight loss medications might actually be capable of reversing the aging process. The discussion soon pivots to the nuances of Florida living, contrasting the crowded chaos of local theme parks with the historic opulence of the Versace Mansion in Miami. Listeners get a glimpse into what it is like to experience such legendary locations and how these unique environments shape personal perspectives on fashion and history. As the episode progresses, the tone shifts into a deeply reflective exploration of youth, rebellion, and the wisdom that only comes with age. Kevin opens up about his past experiences on movie sets with notable figures and the common regret of not fully absorbing those unique moments in real time. The duo candidly discusses the stubbornness of growing up, the consequences of ignoring good advice, and the heavy mental toll of devastating physical injuries. Finally, the conversation steers toward the squared circle to answer burning questions from long time wrestling fans. The hosts tackle inquiries regarding championship aspirations and uncover Kevin's true whereabouts during the infamous unscripted Vince Russo promo at Bash at the Beach. Viewers will want to tune in to hear the surprising truth about exactly what was happening behind the scenes on that controversial night in professional wrestling history. There are some stories that are so familiar that we almost don't have to hear them anymore… The Wizard of Oz, Forest Gump, The Lion King, Harry Potter, Star Wars. We know the words… the plot twists and all the things that happen to the main character… For some, John 20 might be one of those passages. Because we gather together on Easter morning, and read the story of the empty tomb, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. And as we read, Jesus is the center of the story… rightly so! Jesus is the one who was crucified and is now risen. He's the one we proclaim on Easter morning: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Jesus is the reason we're here. But something can happen when we read a familiar story. Sometimes we know the story so well that we stop really listening… stop noticing the details… the people in the story. And so today, I want to focus on a portion of this text—a person—who we tend to overlook. Because standing right in the middle of one of the most important stories in all of scripture is a woman named Mary Magdalene.

BLAST FROM THE PAST och pratar om filmer som THE MASK, PULP FICTION, FOREST GUMP, LEJONKUNGEN, Mfl. Så välkommen till ett extra långt avsnitt av T&T Filmpodcast. Välkomna.

Flor Bretón García was born in Venezuela and left her homeland at 22 — which means she's now lived outside her home country longer than she lived in it. Lawyer. Educator. Cross-cultural consultant. Mother of three adult TCKs. President of FIGT. And a woman who, after receiving her 598th job rejection, sat down on a Friday night and wrote an article that stopped LinkedIn in its tracks. In this conversation, Flor and Doreen unpack what happens when globally complex women hit systems built for linear lives — and why that's not a talent problem. It's a design problem.Flor opens with the moment she was quietly advised to take an accent-removal class, so as not to distract her students. It was the first time she felt the world asking her to become smaller — and she traces her journey from that moment of self-consciousness to her current view of her accent as an open door, an invitation for people to learn her story. That story took a sharp turn on one particular Friday evening, when she sat down and really looked at those 598 rejection emails. What she noticed changed everything. Many had arrived within 30 minutes of her hitting "apply." Others cited a search for a better "cultural fit." No human being, she realized, was reading her resume at midnight on a Saturday. The systems were doing it for them — and those systems are built to reward one thing above all else: predictability. The very quality that globally complex women are not. This is what Flor calls the great gap — the distance between what organizations say they want and how they actually hire. They talk about agility, resilience, adaptability, the ability to navigate ambiguity. But their applicant tracking systems, their recruiters, their hiring managers are all scanning for familiarity and linearity. A nonlinear resume looks like uncertainty. And uncertainty, to a system, looks like a no.What makes this conversation so compelling is Flor's refusal to let that be the final word. She invites hiring managers to ask a different question entirely — not "why doesn't this resume fit our template?" but "what capabilities is this career showing me?" Because there is intention behind every pivot a global woman makes. The move that looks like confusion from the outside is almost always a decision made in the middle of uncertainty, following a vocation, pulling a common thread. For Flor, that thread runs through everything she's done as a lawyer, educator, and consultant: redesigning systems that truly honour humans with dignity. She also gives us one of the episode's most memorable frameworks — the difference between a Forest Gump resume and a Michelangelo resume. Both are nonlinear. But one looks like things just happened to you, and the other reveals that everything was intentional, even when the path was uncertain. The difference, she says, is entirely in how you tell the story. And telling the story, it turns out, is everything. Not listing countries. Not cataloguing credentials. But pulling the thread, naming the vocation, and being clear about what you want the listener to do with what you've shared. Flor's closing message is one worth sitting with: gWe would love to hear from you, send us a text please!Support the showYou can map the move. You cannot map the metamorphosis. In this episode, I spoke with one of the producers of the film and the author of the book " On the Set of Forest Gump." Forrest Gump is a beloved and frequently quoted modern classic that has captivated audiences and changed the American cultural landscape since its release. The winner of six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay, its portrayal of American history has often sparked debate.

#realconversations #grifting #Ohio #ballet #director#Footloose **CONVERSATIONS WITH CALVIN — WE THE SPECIESHosted by Calvin SchwartzMeet BRYANT CARROLL; “I mentioned to the actor, producer, and now director, Bryant Carroll, as we were well into our interview, that Iwas thinking of Forest Gump's mother saying, 'Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.” All in reference to my thought that Ihad no clear expectations for this interview emanating from Euclid, Ohio. WhatI discovered almost immediately was Bryant's depth, experience, dedication, vision, and movie persona. A quintessential film personality wrapped up inchildhood dreams and directions. From a young age in Ohio, he studied balletand eventually studied acting in NYC. An original cast member of Footloose onBroadway and in a 2001 revival of Hair. To me, his journey is classic. Thestuff they make movies about. There are elements of special depth and humanityto his journey. He's exploring the human experience of an aging woman who hasbeen grifting in his first direction. Heavy stuff. ‘Nowhere Good' is riveting, with wondrous acting. Yes, Bryant's direction is brilliant. I saw the film. Allof a sudden, we're talking about Steve Buscemi, Harrison Ford, and Paul Newman. We both love ‘The Sting.' And Bryantplayed McMurphy in an Ohio production of ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.'Versatile Beyond. I didn't want the interview to end. Great conversation. Iremembered Sally Field is one of Bryant's favorite actresses. I reminded him,she said, of the box of chocolates in Forest Gump. To be continued.” Calvin

[School of Movies 2025] Jim Carrey plays Ebeneezer Scrooge in this unsettling adaptation (sometimes intentionally so, sometimes not). Here, we get to talk about what was possible in this performance capture version that has been done nowhere else, making it strange and special and awkward and precious. Continuing our season of going back to the start, we resurrected the Robert Zemekis incarnation of the perennial yuletide Dickens classic (which we covered back in December 2011 in conjunction with Muppet Christmas Carol... the froggy one we subsequently revisited in 2022). This is also part of an ongoing series analysing the five very uneven performance capture animation films of Image Movers Digital, starting with The Polar Express in 2004, graduating to Monster House in 2006 and closing out with the death-rattle of Mars Needs Moms in 2011. All three of those will be featured on our After School Club over the next few weeks. The remaining oddball adaptation of Beowulf from 2007 is our personal favourite of the quintet and we will finally be talking about it next year. This sub-series is also a part of the overall Zemekis Season we are conducting. Coming next year we will also showcase Forest Gump, Here, The Witches and the riotous Death Becomes Her. Also for Carrey fans, we have his second-finest dramatic performance, The Truman Show, coming very soon (the first-finest being this).

As of today, eligible working parents in England can access 30 funded hours of childcare – in term time only - for children aged nine months to four years. The government is doubling the amount of funded hours it offers, but there are concerns about availability and staffing. New research from Growth Spurt and Women in Data shows that more than half of parents can't access the funding without restrictions, paying fees or meeting extra conditions. Nuala McGovern talks to Early Years Minister Stephen Morgan about the scheme and the challenges the government faces over nursery childcare. We're also joined by Joeli Brearley, founder and director of Growth Spurt, to discuss their research, along with a mother who shares her own experience of navigating the system as she returns to work. Actor Robin Wright joins Nuala in the studio to discuss directing and starring in new series The Girlfriend, based on the book by Michelle Frances. Best known for her award-winning role in House of Cards and much-loved movies such as Forest Gump and The Princess Bride, Robin plays Laura in the psychological thriller, a protective mother who is deeply suspicious of her son's new girlfriend Cherry, played by Olivia Cooke. Sam Southern's husband Glenn took his life five years ago in 2020, leaving her with a blended family of six children, including two who were very young. She talks to reporter Jo Morris about the impact it had on her at the time and how she now runs a charity supporting other families impacted by suicide where she lives in Blackpool. Ken Wachsberger is back with stories of the joyful life he has built as a writer and activist. Initially motivated in the Nixon years as a pioneer of the anti war underground press, Ken's passion for telling the stories no one else was shaped his next five decades. While building his family with his dear Emily and working every job from vegan caterer to writing coach, he was also building a community to advocate for improvements in his first neighborhood, supporting the court cases of abused women accused of murder, and most recently helping establish his temple as a sanctuary. He finds himself involved with so many national events, we joked he had a Forest Gump thing going. The book is available July 14th and there is a launch party at Third Mind Books in Ann Arbor at 7pm! Available for preorder now on his website- www.kenthebookcoach.com
In this episode- recorded back in the midst of the pandemic- Kieran and I discussed Robert Zemeckis' debut feature film, 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'. This was a film we both enjoyed but certainly had issues with. So you can expect us to talk about the pros and cons of this film about a bunch of teens in 1964 going to New York to try and see The Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. We also compare this to other films Zemeckis worked on from 1941 to the Back to the Future trilogy to Forest Gump and beyond! This episode originally aired on my sister show the SpielbergPod in early 2023.

La vida de Tom Hanks: entre el éxito y la polémica
This episode we deep dive into this 1994 classic, starring Tom Hanks, Sally Field and Robin Wright. Watching this movie as a adult, definitely changes some perspective. For a man who was considered 'the local idiot', Forest did more with his life than Rose and Courtney put together. The layer of historical presence woven into Forest's tale is **chef's kiss**. Not to mention the little jokes that we never noticed as kids. Sadly, it also brought one along the startling realization that Jenny may very well be the villain here.

The conversation explores the legendary life of a cannabis silverback and hero. His life's work is behind modern cannabis medicines from GW Pharmaceuticals. Ryan, who has also done amazing work in the cannabis genome, research, and industry, takes us on a fantastic voyage of a truly epic individual who was like a Forest Gump of sorts in Cannabis. It's Black Friday, which means it's a throwback episode day. During this show, Nic from True Crime Garage joins me to discuss the mysterious murder of Molly Bish. Enjoy the holiday weekend! Molly, the youngest of three siblings, was 16 when she was killed. An honor roll student, Molly had just completed her junior year of high school. She played soccer, basketball, and softball. Funny and social, Molly loved everyone. She was a blend of “Lucy” and “Forest Gump.” Just eight days after beginning her new job as a lifeguard at Cummins Pond, Molly was abducted. After three years of fear and the unknown, her bathing suit was found in a wooded area five miles away from the pond. In the weeks that followed, her remains were found and she came home bone-by-bone. Molly was laid to rest on her birthday, August 2, 2003. - Mass.gov Anyone with information on Molly's case is urged to call the anonymous tip line at 508-453-7575. Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of Danger Close, Jack is honored to sit down with a man who has not only touched lives through the screen but has been a tireless advocate for our nation's veterans and their families - Gary Sinise. Known to many for his portrayal of Lt. Dan in the film Forest Gump, Gary's connection to the veteran community is far more than a role. For over 40 years, he has stood side by side with those who have served, working with local Vietnam veterans, supporting the Disabled American Veterans organization, and founding the Gary Sinise Foundation to serve our country's defenders, first responders, Gold Star families, and those in need. His dedication only intensified after 9/11, becoming a lifelong crusade to give back to those who sacrifice so much for the nation.Today, Gary shares the most personal of stories – the tragic loss of his son Mac, who passed away in early 2024 from Chordoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Gary talks about Mac's strength, his remarkable creativity, and the legacy he left behind through his music. After Mac's passing, Gary discovered a treasure trove of his son's compositions - some songs known to the world, like those from the Gary Sinise Foundation documentary Always Do A Little More, and others Mac had tucked away, as of yet unheard. Out of this discovery, Gary has started a new chapter for Mac's music: Resurrection & Revival: Part Two.Join Gary and Jack as they dive deep into the heart of a father's loss, the power of legacy, and the importance of serving and sacrificing for others. This is a conversation about resilience, honor, and how love can drive us to create lasting impact. To learn more about the Gary Sinise Foundation, visit garysinisefoundation.orgTo watch or listen to the music of Mac Sinise, visit Mac's YouTube channel HEREPurchase RESURRECTION & REVIVAL Parts One and Two HERE.
