Det er alligevel utroligt, at der skulle gå 15 år, før vi besluttede os for at optage en episode, hvor vi samlede vores favoritjulefilm. Og så endte det faktisk med, at det slet ikke var os selv, der tog beslutningen. Det gjorde superlytter og til tider gæstevært Christian Thomsen fra Hvide Sande. Som Christian selv siger i episoden, er det nærmest blevet en juletradition i sig selv, at han hvert år i oktober sender en forespørgsel til redaktøren: "Skal vi ikke i år lave en Top 25 julefilm?" Og hvert år har svaret været noget i retning af "mnjaeh... tjoeh... ikke tid." Men i år blev det pludselig anderledes. Sol, måne og stjerner stod helt rigtigt, så 2024 blev året, hvor vi endelig kastede os over julefilmen i top-form. Vi har lavet en hel del top-lister gennem tiden (Top 25 gysere, komedier, filmskurke, filmmonstre, skuespillerinder osv.). Hver eneste gang har listen været på 25 film, men den højtidelige anledning taget i betragtning var der ingen tvivl blandt værterne i denne episode om, at listen denne gang naturligvis skulle bestå af 24 film. Hvordan det så alligevel endte med at gå anderledes, må du høre om i episoden. Casper Christensen er som altid fast anchorman og knap-vrider på episoden, og han flankeres – ganske som vanligt – af Jannik Hansen. Og så er der naturligvis Christian Thomsen, der uden tvivl er den største og mest julelykkelige julegris i denne episode. Men hvem skulle vi dog have æren af at invitere ind i den sidste varme podcaststol? Ærligt talt ledte vi først efter en kvinde for at skabe lidt balance i panelet. Det lykkedes, men hvad der næsten var bedre, var, at vi fandt en kvindelig Grinch! En julehader! Eller rettere, en eks-julehader med en vaskeægte rørende historie om julefrelse: Ida Rud! Ja, Ida fra Troldspejlet, P8 Jazz og alle mulige andre lækre DR-programmer runder vores julepanel af og sætter sit helt eget præg på både os andre og listen. For som altid er listen jo et øjebliksbillede. Et tværsnit gennem fire menneskers umiddelbare forhold til julefilm, som det ser ud netop nu. Det er på ingen måde en endegyldig liste over "VERDENS BEDSTE JULEFILM", men det ér en liste, hvor man både finder klassikere, som alle har set, og helt friske deep cuts, der fortjener meget mere julekærlighed, end de har fået. Processen for skabelsen af listen er på sin vis simpel nok: Hver vært sender deres personlige liste til redaktøren, og listen må være lige så lang, som man ønsker. Man må stort set også inkludere alle slags film, så længe man kan argumentere for, hvorfor netop denne film fortjener at være med på netop denne liste. "Hvad er en julefilm? Det bestemmer du selv." Ved hjælp af komplekse algoritmer tildeler redaktøren hver plads på listen en pointværdi, der stiger eksponentielt, jo højere op på listen den er. Det betyder, at hvis en enkelt vært er den eneste, der placerer en særlig film højt på sin liste (i top 6-7 stykker), så vil filmen sandsynligvis ende med at komme med på den endelige liste. Som altid er listen dermed endt som en dejlig varieret menu, hvor der både er plads til gigantiske og uundgåelige klassikere, men også mange mindre kendte og hyldede overraskelser. Nu er du måske nysgerrig, men der går noget tid, før vi offentliggør listen på skrift. Indtil i hvert fald d. 24. december kan du kun lære den at kende ved at lytte til denne episode.
