As we close out the year, this special Holiday episode of the SuperLife Podcast weaves together the most powerful moments, conversations, and awakenings from an extraordinary season of inquiry. From environmental toxins and metabolic health to resilience, trauma, consciousness, and human potential, this episode is a reminder that living a SuperLife isn't about perfection — it's about awareness, sovereignty, and choosing differently. This year challenged assumptions, exposed broken systems, and offered real tools for healing — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This episode is both a reflection and a recalibration: a moment to pause, integrate, and step forward with clarity into what's next.     What You'll Learn 00:00 – Welcome to SuperLife + why this Holiday Special matter 02:10 - Year-end reflection: the conversations that cracked us open 07:26 - Dr. Aly Cohen on how her golden retriever's autoimmune illness revealed the unregulated chemical soup in our daily products. 10:57 - Dr. Laurie Santos on the arrival fallacy of happiness and why our brains are wired to get used to the good life. 16:03 - Dr. Stephanie Venn-Watson on how a study on Navy dolphins led to the accidental discovery of C15, a fatty acid that may slow aging. 20:55 - Jennifer Cohen on how a simple "spit and catch" game taught her that boredom forces kids to build resiliency. 24:05 - Ian Clark on the moment he refused a terminal prognosis and committed to finding a different way to heal. 29:59 - Jim Poole on inventing NuCalm, a technology using physics and math to bypass trauma responses and restore the brain. 35:32 - Dr. Richard J. Brown on how his muscle mass provided the metabolic reserve needed to heal from severe burns after a grill explosion. 39:45 - Chef Bailey Ruskus on how the failure of Western medicine regarding her chronic illness led her to find her cure and calling in the kitchen. 48:48 - Sheila Morovati on how asking one question about default settings on food apps saved over a billion pieces of plastic cutlery. 53:28 - Cameron Waters on the theory that Jesus wasn't angry about money in the temple, but about the massive animal slaughter taking place. 01:01:04 - Redfoo on a masterclass in manifestation and how he decided his work was play. 01:08:24 - Ilan Sobel on bio-farming and mirroring nature to grow specific cells without soil. 01:14:08 - Dr. Jessica Stavale on fascia, the bioelectric web that holds us together and might be the missing link to understanding chronic pain. 01:18:05 - Gabrielle Reece on the ultimatum she gave her husband Laird Hamilton that saved their marriage and deepened their love. 01:22:29 - Johnny Fine on the vulnerability of the power grid and practical solar solutions for an EMP event. 01:28:26 - Josh Macin on discovering a physical parasite that changed his understanding of his own depression and intrusive thoughts. 01:34:40 - Gustavo Herman Moro on finding a literal treasure beneath the sea during a lightning storm just as time was running out. 01:39:26 - Dani Fontaine on the endocannabinoid system as the body's master thermostat and regulating signal system. 01:44:02 - Catharine Arnston on how algae acts as a firefighter for our mitochondria to put out the flames of inflammation. 01:49:26 - Dr. Mindy Pelz on the grandmother hypothesis and how menopause rewires the female brain for leadership. 01:55:00 - Dr. Max Butterfield on the surprising mismatch between what men think women find attractive versus what they actually do. 01:59:00 - Kyle Nicolaides on an Ayahuasca ceremony where he realized depression was an initiation rather than a defect. 02:03:52 - Dr. Aimee Apigian on why you cannot think your way out of trauma and why the body must physically move through the experience. 02:09:00 - Aaron Bigelow on the science of the human voice as a holographic blueprint for our health. 02:13:30 - Charlie Goldsmith on the moment he first felt magnetic energy in his hands at 18 years old and his first accidental healing. 02:21:10 - Maya Raichoora on using visualization to heal her body and walk again after a rude comment from a nurse ignited her fight. 02:25:20 - Dr. Lori Woodley on the "cross backwards" technique to break autopilot and stop reactive behavior. 02:29:32 - Chloe Temtchine on flipping the script from victimhood to empowerment to reclaim her health from a terminal diagnosis. 02:35:10 - Jürgen Horn on a somatic release technique for the jaw that shifted his body enough for his wisdom teeth to grow in. 02:39:23 - Jeff Turner on getting crushed in a rap battle in high school and finding the humor that launched his career. 02:44:53 - Dr. Michelle Jorgensen on how her own mercury poisoning led her to uncover the toxic truth about modern dentistry. 02:50:05 - Robyn O'Brien on the character assassination she endured when she blew the whistle on the food industry and how it forged her resilience. 02:54:16 - Darin synthesizes the year's insights into a final message of empowerment, reminding listeners that they are not victims but possess the agency and tools to actively shape their own biology and destiny.     Thank You to Our Sponsors Therasage: Go to www.therasage.com and use code DARIN at checkout for 15% off Our Place: Toxic-free, durable cookware that supports healthy cooking. Episode 332 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a "get to know" interview with Kaylie Osborne of the PWHL New York Sirens, and a "catch up" with long-time NHL goalie coach Ian Clark. In the feature interview appropriately presented by NHL Sense Arena, we start things off with a great conversation with Osborne, who is in her first year as the Sirens starter in just her second year as a pro after a standout college career at Colgate University, which concluded with a 20–4–1 record, career-best 1.28 goals-against average, .941 save percentage, and six shutouts as a senior. We talk early inspirations and the evolution of her game through college and into pro for a 23-year-old who was already a part of Team Canada during the Rivalry Series. From there we switch gears to catch up with Clark, whose role with the Vancouver Canucks may have shifted to scouting and development, but whose passion for the teaching the position to all levels remains as strong as ever, including an upcoming series of Pro Tips at InGoal. In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop it Goaltending U the App, We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Filip Gustavsson of the Minnesota Wild discussing keys to simplifying back-and-forth plays behind the net. In our weekly gear segment we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a deep dive into the latest from Brian's Custom Spots, the Iconic 2 pads and gloves.

Today's program is a special one. This is the first interview that I've conducted since way back in 2000, when I interviewed Michael Giacchino during the MEDAL OF HONOR: UNDERGROUND recording sessions in Seattle. Maybe one day I'll unearth that interview for you all. Back on September 25th of this year, I sat down with CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO's own Jason Drury, who will be releasing his 50th episode of THE ARCHIVE on this podcast soon. Jason was visiting Robert Daniels and me once more, and during one of his last evenings here, he made his way to the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO studios to have a chat about his lifelong fascination with film music, which began at an early age with his discovery of the music of Barry Grey, John Williams and James Horner, among others. We also chatted about turning his passion into broadcasting, first on the internet radio station KASPAAR in his home of Kent, England, and then joining CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, where he completed his magnum opus, a three-part documentary on James Horner. Afterwards, Jason created two new podcast series for CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, called THE ARCHIVE and TALKING SOUNDTRACKS. Since 2021, Jason has expanded his influence as a writer and interviewer for FILM SCORE MONTHLY, engaging with many of today's leading composers. Beyond his broadcasting and journalistic work, he remains an avid movie-goer and cricket enthusiast. As a proud member of the INTERNATIONAL FILM MUSIC CRITICS ASSOCIATION (IFMCA), Jason continues to champion the world of film music, sharing his insight, enthusiasm, and deep appreciation for the art form with audiences around the world. We also delve into Jason's personal journey, including his experiences with bullying and the lasting impact it had on his confidence. He shares how film music became a vital source of comfort and strength during those difficult years. Ultimately, that passion led him to podcasting, which helped him rebuild his self-belief and connect with others who share his love for the art form. Here now is part one of my chat with Jason, a discussion which took place on a warm fall evening in my dimly lit studio on September 25, 2025 Enjoy! —— Special thanks to our Patreon supporters: Matt DeWater, David Ballantyne, Joe Wiles, Maxime, William Welch, Tim Burden, Alan Rogers, Dave Williams, Max Hamulyák, Jeffrey Graebner, Don Mase, Victor Field, Jochen Stolz, Emily Mason, Eric Skroch, Alexander Schiebel, Alphonse Brown, John Link, Andreas Wennmyr, Matt Berretta, Eldaly Morningstar, Jim Wilson, Glenn McDorman, Chris Malone, Steve Karpicz, Deniz Çağlar, Brent Osterberg, Jérôme Flick, Sarah Brouns, Aaron Collins, Randall Derchan, Angela Rabatin, Michael Poteet, Larry Reese, Rudy Amaya, Stacy Livitsanis, Rick Laird, Carl Wonders, Nathan Blumenfeld, Lee Wileman, Daniel Herrin, Scott Bordelon, James Alexander, Brett French, Ian Clark, Ron, Andy Gray, Joel Nichols, Steve Daniel, Corey O'Brien, John Leggett, Mim Williams, Grace Hamilton, Rob Kemp. —— Cinematic Sound Radio is fully licensed to play music by SOCAN. Monetizing AI: Beyond Cost-Plus Pricing with Ian Clark

Impact Pricing

Ian Clark runs Crescendo Consulting, helping companies monetize AI features. He's advised leadership teams on packaging, pricing metrics, and outcome-based models. And of course, he performed his obligatory stint at Simon Kutcher Partners. In this episode, Ian challenges common misconceptions about AI pricing, explaining why cost-plus pricing is still wrong even with variable AI costs, how to choose the right pricing metrics beyond tokens, and why outcome-based pricing isn't the silver bullet many believe it to be.   Why you have to check out today's podcast:  Understand why AI costs shouldn't drive your pricing strategy, even when margins drop below traditional SaaS levels.  Learn how to identify pricing metrics that correlate with willingness to pay rather than falling into the token-based pricing trap. Discover why outcome-based pricing for AI faces fundamental attribution problems that make it less viable than expected.   "The best way to get willingness-to-pay data and to understand where the value of your product comes from is by doing customer interviews, not the testing, not the data, customer interviews."  – Ian Clark   Topics Covered: 02:59 - Monetizing AI vs. SaaS. The surprising similarities between AI and SaaS pricing, and why cost-plus pricing remains a bad idea even with AI's variable costs. 05:17 - Pricing Strategy in AI.The gross margin threshold where revenue-optimizing and margin-optimizing prices diverge (50-60%), plus the potato chip pricing thought experiment. 09:35 - AI Pricing Strategies. Why token-based pricing is problematic and how to find the right pricing metric that correlates with willingness to pay. 12:24 - Pricing Strategies for AI Tools.Real-world case study of sales enablement AI: choosing between user-based vs. usage-based pricing based on wallet size indicators. 16:27 - Outcomes-based Pricing Skepticism. The attribution problem with outcomes-based pricing and why it's harder to implement than it appears, using grocery shrinkage AI as an example. 20:11 - Outcome-based Pricing for AI. Sierra's "resolved conversations" model critique and the ethics of incentivizing AI agents vs. human labor. 24:03 - Pricing and Value Creation. The three-layer value framework: actual economic value → perceived value → willingness to pay, accounting for risk, timing, and budget constraints. 26:39 - 10% Rule in Pricing Strategy.Debunking the "charge 10% of value created" rule with Y Combinator math showing how small variations (9X vs 11X) can dramatically impact company survival. 30:31 - Customer Interviews for Pricing Insights. Why customer interviews beat data analysis and A/B testing for understanding willingness to pay and pain points.   Key Takeaways: "We have known for a very long time that cost-plus pricing is a really bad idea. And it's not the case that now suddenly that we have AI, now suddenly it's a good idea." - Ian Clark "So the 10x rule, it's great, but it's just woefully insufficient. Why not 11x? Why not 9x? You actually don't know." - Ian Clark "One thing that we like to say about pricing and monetization is that people think it's like architecture, but it really should be like gardening." - Ian Clark   People / Resources Mentioned: Simon Kutcher Partners: https://www.simon-kucher.com/en Alpine Investors: https://alpineinvestors.com/ James Wilton: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesdwilton/ Sierra: https://sierra.ai/ Fin AI: https://fin.ai/ Y Combinator: https://www.ycombinator.com/ McKinsey: https://www.mckinsey.com/   Connect with Ian Clark: Website: https://crescendo.consulting LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ian-harrison-clark/ Email: ian@crescendo.consulting   Connect with Mark Stiving: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/ Email: mark@impactpricing.com

Sadly, and without much fanfare, we lost another dedicated film music fan and a very good friend, Tom Kiefner. November 2, 1947 – June 13, 2025. He was a gentle soul, a passionate baseball fan and a skilled photographer. I initially met Tom in the early 2000s when I joined a message board on scorereviews.com, which is now maintitles.net. There, I read Tom's enthusiastic postings about melodic, orchestral Golden Age scores, and classical music. He would wax poetic about Korngold, Rozsa, Waxman, Herrmann, Tiomkin, Newman and Hugo Friedhofer who peened his favourite score of all time, THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES. He would often express his admiration for early television shows and the music composed for them including Lalo Schifrin's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE and Morton Stevens' HAWAII-FIVE-O. I befriended Tom, and we talked about film music and his other interests, such as photography and baseball. He once told me that he casually chatted with Wayne Gretzky, whose son played for one of the teams Tom was photographing that day. The discussions would continue to include Hammer Horror films, Les Baxter, Charles Gerhardt, and Tom's dream of starting a website dedicated solely to Golden Age scores. I thought it was a great idea. He then offered me money to create the website for him. Even if I could… I don't have the skills to do so… I would never take Tom's money. I then suggested he contact Bregt De Lange, who designed the maintitles.net website. GoldenScores.com launched in 2006. After the site closed a few years later, Tom moved his film music essays and reviews to his new WordPress blog, Film and Classical Music: Neglected Art. There, Tom's writings, which began in 2006, are archived. His last review was on May 4, 2022. In 2010, Tom accepted an invitation to guest-host his own episode of Cinematic Sound Radio. I told him he could play whatever he wanted, as long as it was Golden Age-themed. These are the original show notes. FILM MUSIC MIX | GOLDEN AGE SCORES with guest host TOM KIEFNER from FILM MUSIC: THE NEGLECTED ART On this edition of FILM MUSIC MIX guest host Tom Kiefner from the film music blog, FILM MUSIC: THE NEGLECTED ART, will take us on a journey through the wonderful sounds of Hollywood's Golden Age. You will hear music by Bernard Herrmann from the film HANGOVER SQUARE featuring the Concert Macabre. You'll also hear a couple of selections from THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES by Hugo Friedhofer (Tom's favorite score) and a spectacular suite from HORROR OF DRACULA by James Bernard. Afterwards, enjoy the Americana sounds of Aaron Copland with THE RED PONY and finish off with the tune that got Tom into film music; the up tempo theme from PETER GUNN by Henry Mancini. So, on today's very special episode, and in honour of one of the great champions of film music and my friend, we proudly rebroadcast Tom's show, which first premiered on September 3, 2010. Rest in peace, my friend! —— Special thanks to our Patreon supporters: Matt DeWater, David Ballantyne, Joe Wiles, Maxime, William Welch, Tim Burden, Alan Rogers, Dave Williams, Max Hamulyák, Jeffrey Graebner, Don Mase, Victor Field, Jochen Stolz, Emily Mason, Eric Skroch, Alexander Schiebel, Alphonse Brown, John Link, Andreas Wennmyr, Matt Berretta, Eldaly Morningstar, Jim Wilson, Glenn McDorman, Chris Malone, Steve Karpicz, Deniz Çağlar, Brent Osterberg, Jérôme Flick, Sarah Brouns, Aaron Collins, Randall Derchan, Angela Rabatin, Michael Poteet, Larry Reese, William Burke, Rudy Amaya, Stacy Livitsanis, Rick Laird, Carl Wonders, Nathan Blumenfeld, Lee Wileman, Daniel Herrin, Scott Bordelon, James Alexander, Brett French, Ian Clark, Ron, Andy Gray, Joel Nichols, Steve Daniel, Corey O'Brien, John Leggett, Mim Williams, Grace Hamilton, Rob Kemp. —— Cinematic Sound Radio is fully licensed to play music by SOCAN. This episode of the Rich Mind Podcast is a candid conversation about personal health, nutrition, and navigating the overwhelming world of supplements and dietary advice. Randy and Greg share their individual health journeys, discussing the different approaches they take—from keto to plant-based diets—and the daily routines they use to optimize their well-being. They tackle the challenge of conflicting information online, emphasizing the importance of finding credible sources like doctors and individuals with real-life transformation stories, rather than just social media influencers. This discussion serves as a practical guide to becoming your own "guinea pig," testing what resonates with you, and building sustainable habits for long-term health, all while acknowledging that the journey is never perfect.   Key Takeaways: There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health; what works for one person may not work for another. It's about finding what resonates with you. Be cautious of where you get your health information. Prioritize credentialed doctors and genuine success stories over social media influencers. The journey to optimal health is not about perfection, but about consistency and getting back on track after a "bad" choice. Chronic diseases often develop over decades due to the compounding effect of bad habits. Small, consistent, positive changes are key to prevention. A structured morning and night routine, including practices like journaling and hydration, can be foundational to good health. Technology, especially AI, can be a powerful tool for self-education and learning about health and nutrition. Long-term health is not just about living longer, but about increasing your "healthspan"—the number of healthy, active years you have.   Questions Answered in This Episode: How do you navigate the conflicting health and nutrition advice online? What's the difference between a keto and a plant-based diet, and how do you choose what's right for you? How can you become more in-tune with your body to know what foods make you feel good or bad? What are some simple, foundational habits for a healthy morning routine? How can you overcome the mental battle of making healthy food choices when faced with temptation? What are some of the key supplements to consider for daily health? (e.g., Vitamin D3/K2, Omega-3s) How is emerging technology expected to impact human longevity and "healthspan"? Why is it more important to focus on long-term health habits rather than quick fixes?   Key People, Concepts, & Terms: People: Randy Wilson, Greg Junge, Gary Brecka, Ian Clark. Welcome to Cinematic Sound Radio's celebration of the 35th anniversary of Film Score Monthly. In 1990, a young film music fan named Lukas Kendall began what was to become Film Score Monthly with a Xeroxed newsletter sent to a handful of fans who signed up to receive the snail mail newsletter. From there, the newsletter turned into one of the biggest soundtrack publications in the world. The magazine's run ended in 2005 at 150 issues. It ceased printing due to budgetary reasons. The magazine, however, still lives on in the digital world as FSM On-Line. A byproduct of the magazine was a record label, which began in 1998 with the release of Jerry Goldsmith's STAGECOACH / THE LONER. Lukas would go onto produce 250 FSM CDs, many of them long-sought-after "holy grails." The label would cease production in 2013. The website and popular message board are still running, but are in desperate need of updating. That's where you come in. Lukas is currently raising money on Kickstarter to help fund a brand-new website, message board, book, CD and more! As of the release of this episode on June 20th, 2025, the Kickstarter has reached its initial goal of $25,000 and is currently in its stretch run to raise an additional $25,000. If you've already pledged, thank you, but if you haven't, then please head over to the Kickstarter by CLICKING HERE and donate what you can to help keep this film music institution running smoothly for the next 35 years! To celebrate FSM's 35 years, I'm going to play for you my top five favourite Film Score Monthly CDs of all time, featuring the music of Franz Waxman, Bronislau Kaper, Johnny Green, Stu Phillips, Elmer Bernstein, Alexander Courage and Jerry Goldsmith. Enjoy! —— Special thanks to our Patreon supporters: Matt DeWater, David Ballantyne, Joe Wiles, Maxime, William Welch, Tim Burden, Alan Rogers, Dave Williams, Max Hamulyák, Jeffrey Graebner, Don Mase, Victor Field, Jochen Stolz, Emily Mason, Eric Skroch, Alexander Schiebel, Alphonse Brown, John Link, Andreas Wennmyr, Matt Berretta, Eldaly Morningstar, Jim Wilson, Glenn McDorman, Chris Malone, Steve Karpicz, Deniz Çağlar, Brent Osterberg, Jérôme Flick, Sarah Brouns, Aaron Collins, Randall Derchan, Angela Rabatin, Michael Poteet, Larry Reese, Thomas Tinneny, William Burke, Rudy Amaya, Stacy Livitsanis, Rick Laird, Carl Wonders, Nathan Blumenfeld, Lee Wileman, Daniel Herrin, Scott Bordelon, James Alexander, Brett French, Ian Clark, Ron, Andy Gray, Joel Nichols, Steve Daniel, Corey O'Brien, John Leggett, Mim Williams, Grace Hamilton, Rob Kemp. —— Cinematic Sound Radio is fully licensed to play music by SOCAN. Cinematic Sound Radio - Soundtracks, Film, TV and Video Game Music

Welcome to the first-ever FREE edition of the FRIDAY PLAYLIST. Back in August of 2024, as a way to quickly produce some new content while I worked on the main podcast program, I came up with a weekly segment, exclusive to Patreon, called THE CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO FRIDAY PLAYLIST. Basically, this was to be a revival of my old school Film Music Mix programs, where I played a variety of unrelated cues with commentary. Many of the FRIDAY PLAYLIST episodes feature a 7-10 minute opening commentary about what I was going to play, and then you could sit back and listen to an hour of uninterrupted film music curated by yours truly, as well as members of the Patreon. And in case I couldn't put on a show, other hosts of CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO would step in for me. It was so successful that I spent the vast majority of my podcasting time producing FRIDAY PLAYLIST and, unfortunately, neglecting the main feed. So, I decided to come up with a compromise. Every month, I will attempt to produce two FRIDAY PLAYLIST shows (or other themed programs) a month for the main feed and two shows a month that will live behind the paywall. Those Patreon-exclusive playlists will feature far more interesting cues from hard-to-find scores and commercially unreleased music. If you want to hear those programs, then please head over to OUR PATREON and sign up. Ok, with that out of the way, please enjoy today's episode dedicated to SWORD AND SORCERY films. You'll hear selections from HERCULES (Velazquez), HUNDRA (Morricone), BEOWULF (Silvestri), KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE (Rozsa), THE MISTS OF AVALON (Holdridge), THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER (Whitaker) and HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEY (LoDuca). ‘Where life had no value, and death sometimes had its price. That is why bounty hunters appeared.' For decades, the Italian, or Spaghetti Western, has entertained and thrilled cinema audiences all over the world. Its distinct style, as well as its inventive musical scores, has influenced and inspired actors, filmmakers, and composers. It is a genre that is still enjoyed today by many. This unusual but entertaining ensemble of films influenced not just the western film as we knew it, but also had a lasting effect on many other movies. Some of which were produced long after Italian westerns had ridden off into the proverbial sunset of cinema history. On today's episode, join Jason Drury and special guest Italian Western music expert John Mansell as they uncover the musical delights of this quirky but important collection of sagebrush sagas. The unique musical sounds crafted by the composers you will hear go largely unnoticed and underappreciated today. Enjoy! On the 10th September 2024, the music from the Marvel Animated series DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS was released by Dulcima Records on 10th September, exactly 40 years after the show premiered in the UK. The show's music was written by British composer Johnny Douglas, who, in addition to having a diverse career in film and television, was the composer of music for Marvel's animated series in the 1980s, which included SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, G.I. JOE, and TRANSFORMERS. His filmography includes the classic 1965 sci-fi adventure CRACK IN THE WORLD and the British children's classic THE RAILWAY CHILDREN. Louise Camby, Johnny Douglas' granddaughter, is currently researching a book on his life and career called TRACKS TO MY GRANDFATHER'S SUCCESS, and in October 2024 she spoke with Jason Drury about her grandfather's life and work, how the book was coming along, and how, by chance, she discovered music from DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS in Johnny Douglas' archives. During the show, we'll hear music from DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, as well as other music from Johnny Douglas' career.
