The Canadian comedian Jessi Cruickshank first rose to prominence as the co-host of MTV Canada's “The Hills: The After Show.” Now, she's releasing her first one-hour comedy special, “Minivan Money,” which explores her experience raising three kids. Jessi joins Tom to tell us how comedy helped her cope with some of the toughest parts of motherhood, why she asked her audience to throw their old bras at her, and why she made the decision to pump breast milk on stage.
Personal reunion show! After sliding into Jessi's DM's to congratulate her on her first comedy special, Up Close and Too Personal, it occurred to me that we hadn't spoken in way too long. Jessi and I go back to the naughty noughties, when MTV's Aftershow was just taking shape and they still served hosts and guests (like me) hard liquor during the live broadcast. In this episode, we go allll the way back to those days on the Aftershow couch and chat about her entire career evolution to present day. Jessi is now a mom, writer, host of a hit podcast (Phone A Friend) and incredibly successful touring comedian. In this episode, we dive into: - Context and behind the scenes scoop on those early days with MTV Canada- "Incidents" that took place and questionable things I said on air (O.m.gee.) - Her jump from the network over to LA- What gave her to the push to start creating content for the internet- New Mom Who Dis, and the possibility that Justin Trudeau has her on a blacklist - How hosting "thankless" Canadian awards shows evolved into standup - The celebrity she offended too badly to recover from on the Emmy's red carpet and SO much more. Her career has taken her down a wavy road, and she's incredibly entrepreneurial in her approach to everything. Listen in and let me know what you think. xo E Presented by Fresh. Her take on cast members after hosting The Hills: After Show, with her BFF Dan Levy. Honest parenting advice for raising three children. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It's the episode Jessi has waited ALL WEEK A LIFETIME to record! She's giving ALL the insider details about being at the Justin Timberlake concert when *NSYNC performed together for the first time in 20 years! Warning: She did BLACK OUT for most of the performance, but she's piecing it back together for YOU. Plus, was the new *NSYNC single rejected from the TROLLS soundtrack? Jessi has EVIDENCE that it was. Then- we get into Royal News! Kate Middleton is back (or is she?) Prince William had an affair (or did he?) and will you buy Meghan Markle's legume-based spreads? Jessi watched Love Is Blind Season 6 and turns out, Love is NOT Blind, nor does it look like Meghan Fox. Plus, we dive into the Oprah Ozempic Special and it will change your perspective on weight loss. All that AND a voicemail about John Cena?! Let's DO THIS.
