The Artist Friendly with Joel Madden podcast has quickly become a staple in my weekly routine. As a fan of Good Charlotte, I was initially drawn to the podcast because of Joel's involvement, but it has exceeded my expectations in every way. Each week, I eagerly anticipate a new episode and I am never disappointed. The conversations on this podcast are refreshingly raw and organic, allowing the guests to truly open up and share their experiences. It feels like sitting down with an old friend every week.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is how it introduces listeners to new artists while also providing deeper insight into familiar names. Through Joel's interviews, I have discovered so many incredible artists that I hadn't heard of before. Additionally, I have gained a greater appreciation for artists whom I have listened to for years. The genuine conversations on this show provide unique perspectives and allow listeners to truly connect with the guests on a personal level.

Another great aspect of The Artist Friendly is Joel's ability as an interviewer. He understands when to speak up and offer insights or opinions, while still allowing the focus to remain on the guest. This is not your typical "plug my newest album" interview; instead, it delves into meaningful discussions that inspire and challenge listeners. Joel's experience in the music industry adds a valuable layer to these conversations, making them even more insightful and engaging.

If there are any downsides to this podcast, they are minimal. Occasionally, the pacing can feel slow or meandering during longer episodes, but this is often outweighed by the depth of content shared by guests. Additionally, some listeners may prefer more structure or specific segments within each episode, but again, the natural flow of conversation is a defining feature of this podcast.

In conclusion, The Artist Friendly with Joel Madden is an inspiring and genuinely refreshing podcast that offers a unique glimpse into the lives and experiences of artists from various backgrounds. Joel's ability as an interviewer and his commitment to providing an authentic platform for these conversations is truly commendable. Whether you're a fan of Good Charlotte or simply interested in the music industry, this podcast is a must-listen. Don't miss out on the insightful, raw, and awesome conversations that take place on The Artist Friendly.

On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Ricky Hil. As the son of famed designer Tommy Hilfiger, Hil has been tasked to carve out his own space within music and culture. He turned to emo rap in the 2010s, creating a murky sound that helped to influence GothBoiClique — namely Lil Peep. The duo even made a couple of songs together, which remain unreleased. In a conversation with Madden, the rapper explores his lifelong relationship with music and fashion, the complex process of self-realization, and the work ethic he learned from his father. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes. Goldsmith wrote Dawes' 2009 debut album, North Hills, in his early 20s. More than a decade later, he's only continued to grow as a songwriter, resulting in the band's ninth studio full-length, Oh Brother, which was released this past October. Before the band hit the road to tour those songs with Winnetka Bowling League, Goldsmith caught up with Madden about balancing being happy while also wanting more from life, getting better at being himself, and their latest album. On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Cameron Diaz. Artist Friendly is reaching another huge milestone, celebrating 100 episodes with actor and entrepreneur Cameron Diaz. After becoming a major star, Diaz stepped away from Hollywood in 2014 to “reclaim [her] own life” — which included exploring her passions and spending time with family. Now, a decade later, she will return to the big screen for the aptly titled Back in Action with Jamie Foxx, which premieres on Netflix in January 2025. She also launched the organic wine brand Avaline with Katherine Power in 2020.  Listen to their conversation on Artist Friendly wherever you listen to podcasts.
