Les Wexner framed his nearly six-hour congressional deposition about Jeffrey Epstein as a political stunt, calling it “silly,” “a nothing burger,” and accusing House Democrats of using the session for “airtime” rather than serious oversight. He claimed he had “nothing to hide,” repeated that he knew nothing about Epstein's criminal conduct, and cast himself as another person deceived by Epstein — financially wounded, personally embarrassed, but not responsible. That posture is convenient, but it also dodges the central problem: Wexner was not some casual acquaintance. He was one of Epstein's most powerful patrons and most prominent clients, and the idea that he could hand Epstein extraordinary access, trust, and legitimacy while remaining completely unaware of the warning signs is exactly why lawmakers and the public remain skeptical.Wexner also attacked Democrats for leaving the room, holding press events, and asking questions he believed were designed for campaign material, including one about his donations to Ohio Sen. Jon Husted. But that criticism works only if you accept Wexner's premise that his role has already been fully explained, and it has not. His complaints about optics do not erase the deeper issue: Epstein's access to elite institutions depended on men like Wexner giving him credibility, wealth, and proximity to power. Wexner may want the deposition to be “one and done,” but his insistence that there was nothing meaningful to ask sounds less like closure and more like an attempt to reduce years of unresolved questions into an annoyance he believes he has outgrown.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Wexner Calls Congressional Epstein Deposition ‘Silly,' Says Democrats Used It as ‘Photo Op' | News | The Harvard Crimson

This week on Purple Political Breakdown Ohio Edition, Radell Lewis follows the money and the power across Ohio politics and keeps circling one question: who is Ohio's government actually working for? Radell opens with the biggest and newest story, the FBI search of the Cleveland offices of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, a progressive group that registers voters, and why the timing and the target deserve a hard, skeptical look. He revisits the FirstEnergy corruption scandal as the real, provable Ohio fraud story, then breaks down a busy week at the Statehouse: the two voter ID measures (Senate Joint Resolution 10, the constitutional amendment headed for the November ballot, and House Bill 472, the absentee photo ID copy requirement now sitting on the governor's desk), the data center tax break that lawmakers promised to end and then quietly kept, the Medicaid anti-fraud bill, and the 3.7 billion dollar capital budget. Then it is the races. The Senate fight between Sherrod Brown and Jon Husted, including the dueling Epstein attack ads and what is actually true about the Wexner donations, Husted's vote on Trump's anti-weaponization fund, and the latest polling that pushed Cook Political Report to move the seat to toss-up. The governor's race between Amy Acton and Vivek Ramaswamy, where Radell digs into Ramaswamy's tax plan, the independent cost estimates, and his own financial disclosure. And a full District Watch on Ohio's 4th and 5th, where Radell lays out exactly what Jim Jordan and Bob Latta stand for and what their challengers, Joshua Kolasinski and Brian Shaver, are offering instead. County of the Week is Butler County. Radell shares who he is voting for and why, makes the case for showing up even in deep red districts, and keeps it where he always does: political solutions without political bias, building a better Ohio on the way to a better America. Every statewide executive office in Ohio is on the ballot in 2026, and not a single incumbent is defending a seat. Term limits cleared the building all at once. In this solo episode of Purple Political Breakdown Ohio Edition, Radell Lewis walks through the entire Ohio ballot, from the top of the ticket down to the competitive congressional districts, so you know exactly what you are voting on. Governor: Dr. Amy Acton vs. Vivek Ramaswamy. U.S. Senate: Sherrod Brown vs. Jon Husted. Plus Attorney General, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, two Ohio Supreme Court seats, and the U.S. House districts most likely to decide which party controls the chamber. Then we get into a week of Statehouse news that shows exactly what kind of fight this is going to be. Attorney General Dave Yost's surprise resignation to join the Alliance Defending Freedom, Gov. Mike DeWine's appointment of Andy Wilson as interim attorney general, and the open question of what happens to the FirstEnergy bribery prosecution. The Ohio GOP power struggle, as gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy sets the agenda on a voter ID constitutional amendment and a Medicaid fraud plan while the sitting governor reacts. HB 698, which would tie public college funding to compliance with Senate Bill 1. A federal plan to open thousands of acres of the Wayne National Forest in southeast Ohio to fracking. And Ohio's data center sales tax break ballooning to roughly $1.6 billion, far beyond the state's own forecast, while the savings flow to Amazon, Meta, and Google. County of the Week is Cuyahoga, home to Cleveland and to a property tax foreclosure case now before the Ohio Supreme Court that could matter to homeowners across the state. Ohio's 7th Congressional District is back on every Democratic flip list in the country, and on this episode of Purple Political Breakdown Ohio Edition, Radell Lewis sits down with two-time OH-7 Democratic congressional candidate Matt Diemer to break down why. Matt has run this district twice, in 2022 and 2024, and he knows exactly what it takes (and what it costs) to fight for a seat the national party has long written off. We dig into the new Democratic nominee Brian Poindexter, the messy reality of incumbent Max Miller's divorce and the domestic violence allegations now hanging over his reelection, the union method that worked for organized labor before the Democratic Party walked away from it, and why R+11 might really be purple plus eleven in 2026. We also break down the 2026 Ohio primary night that just shocked half the state: Allison Russo's commanding 68-32 win over Bryan Hambley in the Secretary of State Democratic primary, the Attorney General Democratic primary surprise, Vivek Ramaswamy versus Dr. Amy Acton in the governor race, Sherrod Brown's comeback campaign against Jon Husted in a Senate seat now tangled in the FirstEnergy bribery trial fallout, and what Maine's Graham Platner versus Janet Mills standoff tells us about how the national Democratic Party is picking its 2026 candidates. Plus the real conversation: vibes versus policy, why primaries make better candidates and better voters, and what an authentic working-class Ohio Democrat actually sounds like. If you live in OH-7 (Ashland, Medina, Wooster, exurban Cleveland, plus parts of Cuyahoga and Wayne), this is the breakdown of your race. If you don't, it's the case study for every flippable R+10-to-R+15 district in the country. Political solutions without political bias. The Supreme Court just gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, then broke its own 32-day procedural rule to enforce that ruling mid-election with over 100,000 Louisiana ballots already cast. Justice Jackson called the move "chaos" with "a strong political undercurrent." This episode connects the dots between Callais and the gerrymandering cascade now sweeping Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, and beyond, where MAGA Republicans are redrawing maps to win power they can't earn at the ballot box, and how California and Virginia tried referendums to fight back (only one succeeded). We then break down Trump's "deal or bomb" ultimatum to Iran and the one-page memo he claims is close to signing. The U.S. Navy is interdicting Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices have spiked since February, and the Iran war fuel spike is the through-line that just killed Spirit Airlines, which announced an orderly wind-down of operations on May 2 and eliminated 17,000 jobs. We unpack the political blame war (Bessent and Duffy point at Warren, Buttigieg, and the Biden DOJ; Warren and Stoller point at Trump's Iran war) and the actual antitrust question underneath: neo-Brandeisian theory versus the Chicago School consensus. In the Breakdown in the Public segment, we cover AI emotional manipulation and the rise of "AI psychosis," including the case of Soon Hourican, a man in his 50s in Northern Ireland whose Grok chatbot "Ani" convinced him he was being surveilled and led him to arm himself with a knife and a hammer. The BBC documented 14 similar cases across 6 countries. Jonathan Gavalas of Jupiter, Florida died by suicide after his Google Gemini chatbot claimed to be his wife. His family is suing Google. Bipartisan supermajorities (74 to 78 percent in the Human Statement national survey) want AI labels, safety testing, and accountability. Neither party is moving on it. Trump tried to deregulate AI through the One Big Beautiful Bill, then through executive order. Then we dig into the 2026 Ohio U.S. Senate race: Jon Husted versus Sherrod Brown, the cleanest test in the country for whether Ohio is genuinely red now or whether 2024 was a Trump-driven anomaly. We cover Brown's tailwinds (Trump's economic approval at 40 percent, the Callais fallout potentially energizing Democratic turnout), his headwinds (a smaller union-Democrat coalition, Ohio's redrawn map), and the First Energy / HB6 connections that may haunt Husted's campaign. Sherrod Brown, you have an open invite to come on the show. We close with three good news stories the mainstream media isn't covering enough: clean energy passing coal as the world's largest electricity source for the first time since 1919 (per Ember's 2025 review and the IEA's 2026 Global Energy Review), the UCL bowel cancer trial showing zero relapses after 33 months using pembrolizumab pre-surgery, and the North Atlantic right whale baby boom that proves conservation policy works when implemented seriously across borders. Tonight's through-line: the polls keep saying voters want guardrails. The people in power keep finding ways around them. From voting maps to AI rules to who gets prosecuted, this is the pattern we connect tonight. Ohio's 2026 primary delivered the tightest Democratic-to-Republican turnout split since 2006, plus a wave of results that reshape what to expect in November. In this solo episode of Purple Political Breakdown Ohio Edition, Radell Lewis breaks down the Democratic primary winners for governor, U.S. Senate, Secretary of State, Attorney General, and key congressional districts including OH-1, OH-3, OH-7, OH-9, OH-10, OH-12, OH-13, and OH-15. Then we dig into what the numbers actually mean: the Vance vs. Ramaswamy proxy fight in the Republican treasurer race, Speaker Matt Huffman's mixed primary night, the Cleveland Browns stadium becoming a Republican-on-Republican attack line, the school tax levy crisis with 42 of 66 levies failing, the Brenner-Lear switcheroo flop in Delaware County, the Ohio Supreme Court submetering ruling and what it means for renters, and this week's County of the Week, Richland County and the failed pro-solar referendum. Plus the Ohio news every voter needs in their head before national headlines bury it: Sen. Jon Husted's early Senate ad buy, the $79 million Republican defense, House Majority PAC's $10.8 million Ohio play, the $2.9 million governor's mansion repair, and the property tax abolition campaign's June signature deadline. May 3, 2026, 8 AM ; GOP super PAC "Americans for Prosperity Action" is warning the party's Senate majority is at risk -- and is calling on Republicans to focus on the cost of living in their messaging. One state where this is being tested is Ohio, which holds its primary elections on Tuesday, including in a closely watched Senate special race for the seat formerly held by JD Vance. Republican incumbent Jon Husted, who was appointed to the seat, is running unopposed for his party's nomination. The Democratic favorite is former Senator Sherrod Brown, who has long centered his political career on the working class and economic issues. Republicans seem worried that Democrats could be competitive here in November, even in a state that Trump has carried three times. Kimberly Atkins-Stohr and Jackie Kucinich join The Weekend to discuss how President Trump's low approval ratings may cause an uphill battle for Republicans in the midterms. Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they highlight Senate Republicans exposing Democrats' hypocrisy on voter ID, rising energy pressures tied to the Iran conflict, and the death of legendary actor and martial artist Chuck Norris.First, they credit Ohio Sen. Jon Husted for proving Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats don't mean it when they claim to support requiring photo ID in order to vote. They also point out the Democrats have a long history of opposing Voter ID under any circumstances and use absurd & inflammatory rhetoric to oppose GOP efforts to secure our elections.Next, Jim breaks down how Iran's recent missile strike on a liquefied natural gas facility in Qatar, along with tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, will strain global energy markets and drive up prices. He also explains why the war needs to continue and whether our energy independence will help to insulate the U.S.Finally, they remember martial arts icon, actor, and conservative activist Chuck Norris, who passed away at age 86. Jim and Greg discuss how Norris became a popular voice in GOP politics and how he became a larger than life figure who was beloved by people of all political stripes. Jim and Greg also have fun reciting their favorite "Chuck Norris Facts."Please visit our great sponsors:Your emotional well-being matters. Find support and feel lighter in therapy with BetterHelp. Who will represent Cincinnati in Congress? In this episode of Purple Political Breakdown, host Radell Lewis breaks down every candidate running in Ohio's 1st Congressional District, one of the most closely watched toss-up House races in the country heading into the May 5, 2026 primary. After Ohio's October 2025 redistricting pushed the district further into conservative territory, incumbent Democrat Greg Landsman now faces a tougher path to reelection. Radell covers Landsman's bipartisan record, his $1.83 million war chest, and what makes him competitive in a district Trump won in 2024. On the progressive side, challenger Damon Lynch is running a people-powered campaign with zero corporate PAC money, zero AIPAC money, and zero FEC dollars reported. On the Republican side, Radell breaks down the real two-horse race between Eric Conroy (endorsed by Senator Bernie Moreno, former CIA officer, standard MAGA platform) and Steven Erbeck (the policy-specific dentist with libertarian leanings and more cash on hand). Plus, Holly Adams and her Turning Point USA Faith ties, and Rosemary Oglesby-Henry, the community-centered long shot with the most detailed platform in the field. Beyond the primary, Radell covers critical Ohio news you need to know: the FirstEnergy bribery trial (the biggest corruption case in Ohio history, with Senator Jon Husted now on the witness stand), the Cleveland Browns stadium funding battle after a court blocked over $1 billion in unclaimed funds, Governor DeWine's final State of the State address focused on children's safety, Ohio's hemp ban repeal effort running out of time before the March 19 signature deadline, and fresh Ohio Democratic Party endorsements for attorney general, Supreme Court, and state auditor. Whether you live in Ohio or just want to understand why local politics shapes everything, this episode gives you the facts, the candidates, and the context to make your own informed decision. We discuss Gov. Mike DeWine's final State of the State, President Donald Trump's visit to southwest Ohio and why Sen. Jon Husted testified in a case tied to the House Bill 6 scandal.
What happens when a sitting U.S. Senator, who's also a former Navy SEAL, walks in and breaks down the Iran conflict with the kind of clarity you only get from someone who's lived the GWOT? Everybody's got a take on Iran. Almost nobody can explain it like this. The fellas — Comfortably Smug, Michael Duncan, and John Ashbrook — listen to Senator Tim Sheehy to lay it out: why this moment feels like the culmination of a fight that's been running for decades, why the “we're starting a war” framing doesn't match reality, and why the potential domestic ripple effects are concerning. In this episode… Sheehy's Iran breakdown: proxies, deterrence, “finish the job” logic. PLUS, DHS funding fight and what's at stake when the basics get politicized.Variety chaos: the kind of headline that makes you rewind to make sure you heard it right. The show swings to Ohio: the fellas sit down with Senator Jon Husted — a legit football guy with a national championship story — to talk the Ohio Senate race, how he pitches “grow the pie” economics, and why career and technical education is the part of the jobs debate that actually touches real families. Then we hit the rest of the mix: quick hits, clips, and the kind of cultural weirdness that only lands in this feed. Ohio leaders and experts react to the latest deaths by federal officers in Minneapolis Videos of the deaths of two American citizens, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of federal immigration officers in Minneapolis this month have caused outrage in communities across the country. The deaths occurred amid protests over President Donald Trump's deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, in Democratic-controlled cities. Critics have pointed out contradictions in the Trump administration's justification of the killing - painting the victims as safety threats, versus the bystander footage. Some lawmakers across the country, including a growing number of Republicans, such as Ohio U.S. Senator Jon Husted and Bay Village Congressman Max Miller have called for a thorough investigation into the incident. Democrats have called for the impeachment and removal of Kristi Noem, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary. And citizens across the country, including a coalition of Cleveland religious leaders, students and activists have announced plans to join a general strike Jan. 30 that calls for the abolition of ICE. Thursday on the "Sound of Ideas," we're going to discuss the latest events in Minneapolis, and how communities in Ohio are responding. We'll also learn what rights people have when encountering ICE with an immigration lawyer. Guests: - Ayla Blumenthal, Immigration attorney, Margaret W. Wong & Associates - Jeff Wensing, President, Ohio Education Association - U.S. Rep. Max Miller, 7th District of Ohio "The Menu" looks at the best new dining options in 2026 Later in the hour, we'll get another installment of "The Menu", our food series that's produced in partnership with the folks at Cleveland Magazine. The menu debuted in 2025 - and we heard from chefs and small business owners, celebrated regional restaurants, and looked at the biggest food trends in Northeast Ohio. In this episode, we'll hear about the best eats for 2026. Guest: - Dillon Stewart, Editor, Cleveland Magazine "Shuffle" music podcast Finally this hour, Frida Mann always wanted to pursue music, but that was at odds with her Orthodox Jewish lifestyle. Eventually, she could no longer fight that urge to sing, and she is now on a journey toward independence and self-expression. On this week's Shuffle, Ideastream Public Media's Amanda Rabinowitz talks with Mann about how music helped her navigate that path. On this episode of American Potential, host David From talks with Senator Jon Husted of Ohio about one of the most urgent—and least addressed—threats facing America: the out-of-control federal debt and the lack of any requirement to balance the federal budget. Sen. Husted explains why nearly every state, including Ohio, must balance its budget while Washington continues deficit spending that has produced a $38 trillion national debt and over $1 trillion in annual interest payments—more than the entire budget of nearly every nation on earth. He shares why past balanced budget efforts have failed, how his Principles-Based Balanced Budget Amendment would work, and why a 10-year runway and a two-thirds vote for emergency deficit spending make his approach both realistic and necessary. The Senator also breaks down the connection between federal overspending, inflation, higher interest rates, and the affordability crisis hitting families nationwide. He explains why Americans across the political spectrum are ready for fiscal discipline—if they can trust Congress to actually follow through. A must-listen for anyone concerned about America's financial future—and what it will take to secure it for generations to come.
