Here you go friends for a Monday evening. First of all I have a celebration day and it's always nice to be able to share a happy day. But I also have decided that because so many things are changing in my life that we all need to get used to not only changing things but also changing names.  So I have a little 12 minute story that I think will be amusing and possibly helpful to you and I know that if you want to excell and do well in the challenging times before us you're gonna have to take one of my suggestions quite seriously. And here is what STOSH the robot has to say Could Everything You've Learned Be Wrong? Why I'm Changing the Name—and What That Might Mean for You Hi, I'm Stan—the Radio Man—and I've been hosting a podcast called Interesting Ideas. But here's the big news: it's time to change the name. And no, this isn't just a branding decision. It's something deeper. Something more personal. Something that might matter to you, too. Let me tell you why. A Personal Moment Sparks a Shift Today is my daughter's birthday. My youngest is turning 50. And as I reflect on that (with a bit of disbelief), I realize that life constantly changes—whether we're ready or not. Back when I was teaching high school history, I overheard one of my students tell a classmate, “It doesn't matter what the course is—it's always Husted.” That comment has stayed with me. It reminded me that no matter what label you slap on the work, if I'm involved, I bring a certain way of thinking, a certain voice, and a certain personality to the table. So when I change the name of this show, it's not about erasing the past—it's about aligning with the present. Because I've changed. The world has changed. Maybe you have, too. The Drucker Moment That Changed Everything Years ago, I read a Forbes article featuring the legendary management consultant Peter Drucker. It was the October 1998 issue. The cover headline jolted me into a new awareness: “Everything You've Learned About the New Economy Could Be Wrong.” I kept that cover. Blew it up into a poster. Used it as a constant reminder in my coaching and consulting work. Why? Because that sentence hits hard. It dares us to consider that our cherished assumptions might no longer apply. And in today's world—where everything is accelerating—this kind of thinking is more vital than ever. Why the Name Must Change The name Interesting Ideas has served us well. But now, I'm searching for something more fitting. Maybe something like: • Instigating Ideas • Innovative Ideas • Inconvenient Ideas • Irritating Ideas • Inspirational Ideas I want a name that reflects not just curiosity, but courage. Because that's what it takes to admit, “I was wrong.” It takes maturity to grow up, not just grow older. And if you've ever changed your mind, you know what I mean. When we realize that what we used to know might no longer be true, we're not falling apart—we're waking up. And that's where real wisdom begins. What This Podcast Is Really About Here's how I see the journey: • Ideas lead to • Insight, which leads to • Influence, which creates • Impact, and if you're lucky, • Income—not just financial, but relational, spiritual, and personal wealth. We're entering what I call The Impact Zone. If you don't make an impact today, you may already be invisible. And I believe we were made to leave an imprint—to leave behind more than we take. Key Takeaways • It's okay to change your mind. Growth means rethinking what we thought we knew. • Impact matters. In this fast-changing world, we must move from ideas to action. • Names are not sacred. What matters is the substance, not the label. • Humility is power. Saying, “I was wrong,” might be the wisest thing you'll ever do. • Wisdom is the goal. Not information, not even knowledge—but wisdom. A Red Plate Day—and a Call to You When our kids were young, we had a tradition: on birthdays or special occasions, we'd bring out a red plate that read, *This is your special day*. It was a way of saying, “You matter.” Today, as I honor my daughter's milestone, I realize that this is my red plate day, too. And maybe yours. So here's my call to action: • Rethink something you've always believed. • Be willing to be wrong—so you can become wiser. • Give me your thoughts on what this new name could be. • And above all, aim to leave a legacy of impact, wisdom, and blessings. Because as much as everything may change, one thing doesn't: our calling to bless others at every turn. Thanks for listening. Let's continue the journey—under a new name, but with the same spirit. Until next time… from whatever this show will soon be called. Blessings always, Stan the Radio Man

Republican Senator Jerry Cirino of Kirtland introduced this week a new version of a bill to combat what conservatives view as liberal bias in higher education in the state. Cirino introduced a similar measure last session, Senate Bill 83, but it stalled in the legislature and died in the lame duck session. Now the bill is known as Senate Bill 1 and Cirino expects it to move quickly through the statehouse. President Trump ran as a candidate on a platform that called for mass deportations. On Monday, he signed sweeping executive orders that declared a national emergency at the southern border and suspended refugee resettlement. Now, immigration advocates are calling on county sheriffs to stand down and not participate in Trump's plan for mass deportations. Jon Husted took the oath of office this week, taking the seat in the U.S. Senate vacated by Vice President JD Vance. Gov. Mike DeWine tapped Husted to be the replacement for Vance last week. The move upends the forthcoming Ohio governor's campaign. DeWine is term limited and Husted had been viewed as the likely successor. We will discuss those stories this week on the "Reporters Roundtable" as well as the intense cold that impacted the area earlier this week.

Ron DeSantis selecting Attorney General Ashley Moody to replace Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate, the Supreme Court's decision to uphold a TikTok ban, and a new report exposing Democrats' long-standing doubts about President Biden's capabilities.First, they cautiously commend Gov. DeSantis for appointing Ashley Moody to succeed Marco Rubio once Rubio assumes his new role as Secretary of State. Moody's strong conservative credentials and statewide electoral success make her a solid choice. They also contrast the timing of this announcement with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, who was had more than two months to pick someone to fill the seat vacated by Vice President-Elect JD Vance and still allowed the seat to remain vacant for a week.Next, they analyze the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the TikTok ban, mandating the app's sale to an entity unaffiliated with hostile nations. The law is designed to address national security concerns, but Donald Trump's recent support for keeping TikTok unchanged adds a layer of complexity to the issue. Finally, Jim and Greg dissect a revealing New York Times report detailing how Senate Democrats lost confidence in President Biden after his disastrous debate performance. They discuss how Biden's pollsters gave him a mere five percent chance of defeating Trump but never told that to Biden. They also marvel at the lengths to which Democrats and the media tried to deny Biden's decline when it was blatantly obvious to everyone. Please visit our great sponsors:Oraclehttps://Oracle.com/MARTINICut your current Cloud bill in half if you move to OCI.  See if your company qualifies today.

150 Years Ago (October 1874) The Husted Base Ball Club of Peekskill accepted a challenge from the Kellogg Base Ball Club of Cold Spring to compete for 10 gold badges that would be presented to the winner by Assembly Member Hamilton Fish Jr. When the Peekskill team arrived, Kellogg reported its local catcher was out of town and had been substituted with a Newburgh player. The Husted club protested; Kellogg offered to scratch him from the lineup if Peekskill removed a player who lived in Haverstraw. The visitors refused and left. Alexander Purdy of Breakneck, who had been walking his dog on a string, insisted he didn't hear any of the whistles blown by the northbound freight train whose cowcatcher tossed him over the south track and nearly into the river at Sandy Landing. Purdy suffered only bruises, but his dog was killed. The Cold Spring Recorder noted that District No. 3 spent $11 [$304] annually per pupil but District 13 spent $16.08 [$444], which the editor took as evidence that the schools should be merged. Officer McAndrew drove to the post office with a 3-year-old boy he had discovered playing near the tracks. The boy said his name was Charlie Hemway and that he lived in Matteawan [Beacon]. But suddenly he shouted "Mama!" and pointed to a woman on the sidewalk: Mrs. Daniel Henry of Nelsonville, who identified the boy as her son. He had been missing since breakfast. The schooner yacht Restless ran aground at Sandy Landing and had to be hauled off by the steamer Boardman two days later at high water. The wharf was covered with flagstones from Ulster County for Caleb Mekeel of Nelsonville to add to residences around the village. According to The Recorder, an express train cut off a portion of Mrs. McGwinny's dress when she was slow crossing the track. But Mrs. McGwinny insisted it wasn't true, and that "she is able to look out for herself." The annual hunting match took place on a rainy Saturday. A team captained by C.H. Ferris won with 922 beasts and birds. The day ended with a feast at Town Hall. J.Y. Dykeman was the individual champion with 302 kills. A dog was sent flying by the 8:12 p.m. express but got up and hobbled home. The Lone Star Club, a Black baseball team that the Poughkeepsie Press said was from Cold Spring, traveled to Poughkeepsie to play the Butterflies. The Lone Stars were actually from Newburgh, with The Recorder noting there had not been enough Black men in the village for a baseball team since the 18th century. Among the unusual items displayed at the Putnam County Fair in Carmel were a 200-year-old German trunk, 120-year-old shears and 143-year-old shoes worn in succession by Barnabas, Orpha, Ruth, Chloa, Heity, Polly, Daniel, Timothy, Samuel, Bizar, Jonathan and William Pierce. Four train cars left for the waterworks in Providence, Rhode Island, with iron piping from the Cold Spring Foundry that weighed 17 tons, 20 tons, 30 tons and 50 tons. A fifth pipe being cast weighed 62 tons. At a trustee vote for the Nelsonville school district, incumbent Stephen Mekeel received 19 votes and Isaac Riggs 17. But "owing to some informality," The Recorder said, "the chairman did not declare the result." In a second ballot, Riggs won, 22-17. Alex Skeene showed off a banana he had grown in a greenhouse. The little daughter of John Dillon was pulled off the track near the depot a moment before the southbound 1:51 p.m. train would have struck her. Mrs. Morris Englebride and her daughter were on their way to church when they passed a man walking unsteadily, with his hands in his pockets, across the Foundry Cove bridge. Soon after, they thought they heard a splash, but there was no cry for help. They told their story at church and several men investigated and found a body with "H.M." on the arm and a stamped rail ticket issued at Fishkill Landing [Beacon] for Sing Sing the day before. The coroner concluded that the man had fallen from the train, but it was unclear where he spent the night. Jennie Bailey, the widow ...
