We open our show with the trio of lawmakers who still think proxy voting is the biggest issue of the day. Then we look at the one PsyOp the Left has been sticking to for weeks and that is the lie that Trump voters are saying they regret voting for him or that “we didn't vote for this.” It's all a bunch of propaganda. In the meantime, the announcement of tariffs (not their enactment, as of yet) has brought 50 countries to the negotiating table, including the EU and India. As to the stock market, it's important to remember that while it is a part of the economy, it is not the whole of the economy. Donald Trump is trying to make sure Main Street is treated as a throw away part of our economy over Wall Street. This leads to a discussion about tariffs being a tax on corporate activity and opens the door to a discussion over all taxes on corporations being bad. China is trying to out tariff the United States, but it's a fight they cannot win. Trump fired back a message giving China one day to reverse their retaliatory tariffs they just announced. Have you noticed a lot of the (paid) protesters are much older? We know they get paid around $100 for two hours of “work.” There also seems to be a dreadful lack of diversity. It's so bad for the Democrats that long-time strategist and pollster, Doug Schoen, says his party is leaderless and rudderless and they seem to only have a position of opposing anything Trump says or does. As an example of their sheer hypocrisy, we turn to an interview Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) gave in 2015 where he said open borders was bad and was a far-right plan to flood the country with cheap labor. He wanted to fight for American workers and their salaries. Funny how he changed tunes just a few years later. Victor Davis Hanson reminds a liberal interviewer of the very thing we discussed last week – we don't need to announce tariffs on Russia when we already have hard sanctions in place. And, while we are at it, there is a reason why tiny island nations were included in the tariffs, but Leftists keep thinking they have another “gotcha” point. Finally, I close with an announcement that The Marriage Fit Podcast was launching after a long hiatus. The show started by me and my wife deals with family, marriage and fitness, but will now be tweaked to include comments about our homestead. As Jeffrey Epstein's legal troubles mounted and the charges kept piling up, he reached out to Doug Schoen to take over his legal team. Today I'm joined by Tim Shenk, a history professor at George Washington University and the author of Left Adrift: What Happened to Liberal Politics. We start back in 1992 with Bill Clinton's presidential campaign and the emergence of party strategists Stan Greenberg and Doug Schoen. We discuss competing approaches for coalition building—Greenberg's preference for New Deal-esque pocketbook populism and Schoen's for a more complete move to the center on social and cultural issues. Turning towards this year's campaign, Tim makes the case that Kamala Harris has largely rejected the expected Brahmin Left playbook. But does Harris's campaign rhetoric actually represent a lasting change for Democrats? Is the progressive moment over? Join us for an engaging conversation on the past, present, and future of the Democratic Party. Get full access to The Liberal Patriot at www.liberalpatriot.com/subscribe

Megyn Kelly begins the show by discussing the bombshell new reporting about serious evidence of Kamala Harris' past plagiarism, whether she plagiarized a fake story and pretended it actually happened, the way the media is ignoring these allegations so far compared to how they covered Biden's plagiarism, and more. Then Hogan Gidley, GOP strategist, and Doug Schoen, Democratic strategist, join to discuss how Kamala is fading in the polls the more interviews and public appearances she does, her constant repetition of talking points during three different town halls with Liz Cheney yesterday, Kamala attacking Trump supporters before correcting herself, how the left is claiming they're on the receiving end of "violent" rhetoric despite the Trump assassination attempts, how she's dividing the country more than ever, what we can learn about the early voting numbers so far, the historic under-polling of Trump and if the polls are fixed this time around, how Trump is now ahead in every swing state polling average, and more. Then Xi Van Fleet, author of "Mao's America," joins to discuss her experience growing up in Communist China during the Cultural Revolution, how her experience there parallels Kamala's rhetoric now, the dangers that Americans need to know about, the similarities she has noticed between Mao and Kamala's messaging, the focus on division among the left today, and more.Gidley- https://x.com/JHoganGidleySchoen- https://www.amazon.com/Politics-Life-Middle-Hostile-Adversarial/dp/1682452263Van Fleet-https://x.com/XVanFleet Birch Gold: Text MEGYN to 989898 and get your free info kit on goldHome Title Lock: https://HomeTitleLock.com and use the promo code MEGYNBlackout Coffee: https://BlackoutCoffee.com/MK or use the code MK for 20% off your first orderFollow The Megyn Kelly Show on all social platforms:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/MegynKellyTwitter: http://Twitter.com/MegynKellyShowInstagram: http://Instagram.com/MegynKellyShowFacebook: http://Facebook.com/MegynKellyShow Find out more information at: https://www.devilmaycaremedia.com/megynkellyshow

Left Adrift: What Happened to Liberal Politics by Timothy Shenk Amazon.com A rivalry that remade the political world as we know it today Politics today doesn't look much like it did fifty years ago. Electorates that were once divided by economics—with blue-collar workers supporting leftwing parties while the wealthy trended right—are now more likely to split along cultural lines. Campaigns have gone high-tech, hoping to turn electioneering into a science. Meanwhile, a permanent class of political consultants has emerged, with teams of pollsters, message gurus, and field operatives. Taken together, all this amounts to a silent revolution that has transformed politics across much of the globe. Left Adrift provides a new perspective on this transformation by following the lives of two political strategists who watched it unfold firsthand. Stan Greenberg and Doug Schoen were Zeligs of the international center-left, with an eerie talent for showing up at just the right moment to see history being made. But they could not stand each other. The mutual disdain was, partly, a result of professional jealousy, of decades spent nursing private grievances while competing for the same clients. But it grew out of a deeper conflict, a clash of political visions that raised fundamental questions about democracy itself. Left Adrift is about that battle—and the world it made.
In her quest for the White House, it seems as if Kamala Harris is doing everything in her power to disassociate herself with liberal ideas. So what, exactly, has happened to liberal politics in the United States today? That's exactly the question which the excellent young George Washington historian, Timothy Shenk, asks in his new book, Left Adrift. And in tracing the fate of liberal politics in America today, Shenk goes back to the Democratic party's two most influential political strategists of the Clinton era: Stan Greenberg and Doug Schoen. The story of these two Zeligs of the center-left, Shenk explains, helps us understand not only Kamala Harris' innate conservatism, but also the challenges (and perhaps opportunities) for American liberalism to reinvent itself in today's age of illiberal populism. Timothy Shenk is an assistant professor of history at George Washington University. A senior editor at Dissent magazine, he has written for the New York Times, the Nation, the New Republic, and Jacobin, among other publications. He received his bachelor's degree and PhD in history from Columbia University, has been a Mellon postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in St. Louis, and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the New America Foundation. Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. In addition to presenting KEEN ON, he is the host of the long-running How To Fix Democracy show. He is also the author of four prescient books about digital technology: CULT OF THE AMATEUR, DIGITAL VERTIGO, THE INTERNET IS NOT THE ANSWER and HOW TO FIX THE FUTURE. He tells the story of how Democrats responded to class dealignment through the careers of two consultants, Stan Greenberg and Doug Schoen—a story that, following these two men, also takes us to the UK, Israel, and South Africa. We discuss what happened to the New Deal coalition, arguments about how to appeal to working class voters drifting right, the limits—and necessity—of polling and even focus groups, why Bill Clinton's role in the rise of neoliberalism is more complicated than you might believe, lessons for the American left from their being crushed in Israel, and what all this might mean for 2024.Sources:Timothy Shenk, Left Adrift: What Happened to Liberal Politics(2024)Douglas E. The Biden campaign is working overtime to court minority voters as new polls continue to show an erosion of support for the President among Hispanic and Black Americans. President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been on the trail touting economic initiatives and student loan forgiveness in hopes of retaining voters. Former President Trump has been outspoken in recent weeks in his own attempt to gain minority voters, with a campaign stop in the Bronx. Founder and partner of Schoen Cooperman Research, Doug Schoen, joins the Rundown to discuss the latest FOX News polling, why minority voters may be moving toward the Republican party, and what the Biden campaign can do to win back the voting base. As the conflict in Ukraine remains dire, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to attend the G7 summit in Italy later this week. A key point at this year's event is a discussion on potential ways to use frozen Russian assets to assist Ukraine's military. However, as the west debates over a plan to help its ally, four Russian warships, including a nuclear-powered submarine, will arrive in Cuba this week, bringing back flashbacks from the Cuban Missile Crisis. Former special assistant to President George W. Bush for national security and the founder of Beacon Global Strategies, Michael Allen, describes why Western countries are changing their attitude toward the Russia-Ukraine war and why Russia's presence in Cuba could be destabilizing to the United States.
