In our most SHOOTING STAR PRESSIEST episode yet, Headmaster Michael (he/him) and Homecoming King Samee (they/them) put on power ranger-esque costumes and masks and flip off the top rope for the high-flying Jushin Thunder Liger. Jushin Thunder Liger's incredible career spanned from 1984 - 2020 (THAT'S 36 YEARS and 4000+ matches!). They cover a few 90's WCW matches and really dig in to Jushin's nearly end of career feud with Murder Grandpa himself, Minoru Suzuki. What will get Michael to REVEAL his Kishin persona? Should we HIRE someone to reverse surfboard submission hold Samee? Would YOU wrestle for 36 years?!?!?! The hunt for Ween Kid has officially begun! In this exclusive Wrestling With Johners interview I speak to British Wrestling legend, Dean Allmark. In this really fun and insightful interview Dean tells us about his love for Pro Wrestling from an early age, and how he was influenced by wrestling from around the world, thanks to wrestling tape traders in the 1990's. We also discuss how he got into the business as a teenager with good friend Robbie Dynamite, and working the holiday camps with All Star Wrestling, and the awesome experience of being in the ring with many former WWF legends and Big Names from the UK circuit. Dean tells us about wrestling for PCW and having dream matches with some of his wrestling heroes, such as Jushin 'Thunder' Liger and Ultimo Dragon. We talk about Dean's highly innovative wrestling style and how he continues to invent new and unique ways to inflict pain on his opponents. We also discuss his 15 years as a coach and the many names he has brought through the business, from the ground up. I'm really proud of this interview with Dean Allmark. And it is already one of my favourite Wrestling With Johners interviews. I hope you enjoy it! (Duration 62 mins) Part of the Johners Podcasting Network : www.wrestlingwithjohners.com

Jack James is from Darlington, England, and is currently living in Fukuoka, Japan. He is a practitioner of Jushin-Ryu Iaido and holds the rank of 5-Dan in the All Japan Kendo Federation. He currently works professionally as an interpreter for the mayor of Fukuoka, and is a regular attendee and supporter of foreigners participating in Iaido events in Japan In this fascinating interview, Jack gives us insight into the complexities and rigour of interpretation as a profession and in the Iaido context. This deep dive has given me a much greater appreciation for our tireless interpreters at seminars outside of Japan. At the end of this interview, we get a brief glimpse into the world of Jushin ryu, but I’ve cut short that part of the interview so we can go into more depth in the future. Buy the new Tights and Fights shirt at maxfunstore.com! This week, Hal and Lindsey are joined by James Durbin. He’s a known singer, actor and American Idol participant who’s also a HUGE wrestling fan. But a major blindspot in his fandom has been New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 14. For the first time ever, this event was split into two days of extremely long cards. There thankfully was no noticeable drop in match quality across both shows, but it cannot be understated: This is a LOT of wrestling and watching it all will take at least a little bit of patience. In that spirit, we take a look at some of the major matches, including the champ-champ efforts of Tetsuya Naito, the heelish tactics of Jay White and KENTA and discuss whether or not Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho’s appearances mean we should expect more collaborations between NJPW and AEW. The Three Count James put over The New Day Podcast Feel the Power. Lindsey put over Jushin “Thunder” Liger’s retirement ceremony. Julian put over the press conference with Jushin and Tiger Mask. Hosted by Hal Lublin, Lindsey Kelk and James Durbin. Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun. If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. If you liked the show, please share it with your friends and be sure to leave us a quick review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get podcasts.
2020 is off to an eventful start, to say the least. Between the retirement of Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, the settling-in of the winter season, our own personal lives still being rather hectic and the rest of the world totally NOT igniting in calamitous flames, we’re going to be in for a lot of work throughout the year. But in the meantime, this show is here to serve as a glance into the wacky and weird world of the anime industry. And for our first show of the new year, we have the continuation of Poll-a-Mania, along with a few glances at upcoming shows to come, the incredible tire fire that is Gainax and Hideaki Anno’s choice words about them, and a look at the dub cast for Weathering With You, one that is sure to persuade the Academy Awards into tossing a nomination its way. We’ll know on Monday, at least. And stay tuned for our next episode, talking all about Weathering With You and the ever-so-polarizing entity that is the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where we’ll have some choice words of our own on that. 7:17 – the misinfirmation regarding Jujutsu Kaisen9:48 – Andrew and Jet catch up on last week’s show13:57 – Anno’s gripes with Gainax22:10 – EVA 3.0+1.0 dated for June 27 in Japan23:41 – what happened to Stars Align?32:44 – Weathering With You dub cast41:04 – Hatsune Miku appearing at Coachella42:44 – Akira 4K release supposedly coming stateside in April?45:30 – that frigging Irregular show is returning49:55 – new Higurashi project coming soon52:44 – POP TEAM EPIC staff on Gal to Kyoryu54:37 – Poll-a-Mania part 2 (Funimation, bilibili, Netflix Japan, ANN) Additional audio from:Yumi Hiroki – “Ikari no Jushin” (Jushin Liger OP)Animal HouseDenzel Curry feat. In the twelfth episode of the Strong Style Story Podcast, it's two of the usual hosts in Geoffrey Wessel and Chris Damasceno attempting to make sense of New Japan Pro Wrestling post-G1 Climax and Super J Cup tournaments. Along with that, there is a fair plethora of saltiness and burials as the guys break down their impressions from the G1, their favorite matches and even Steve Cash joins in on the fun with a separate recorded segment breaking those down himself since he chose to watch Summerslam instead of live recording. Regardless, along with that, the guys also do talk a bit about ROH's "Death Before Dishonor" show and the NJPW talents featured in it, a little bit about the Will Ospreay/Vader match at RevPro along with Chris getting to be overly excited about flying out to go to all three nights of PWG's Battle of Los Angeles and seeing one of his personal favorites in Jushin "Thunder" Liger in person. This edition of the show does, indeed, have some swearing within it that we don't end up censoring like in previous episodes, so listener discretion is advised. Roddy Piper has come to WCW to represent nobody but himself and take down Hulk Hogan and The nWo and in Episode 48 of 'The New Generation Project Podcast' we take a look at their titanic tussle at "Starrcade 1996", closing out our analysis of that calendar year. Featuring; your suggestions for 'Fake' gimmicks, our thoughts on 'NXT: Takeover Respect', Alistair Cook's massive innings, the podcast debuts of Ultimo Dragon and Jushin 'Thunder' Liger, we all gush over Meng, Adams idea for having both a 'womens' and 'divas' division, Damien Demento and Max Moon get a mention, we argue over Dean Malenko's crowd reaction, vanilla midgets, Bonnie Tyler in a gas mask, more insane Dusty Rhodes commentary, Mongo cuts a promo baby and Debra's awful, awful voice. Plus the answers to the questions; Are concentration and focus the same thing? Who is 'The Japanese Mercedes'? Who's joined The nWo now? Was there ever a wrestler connected to bulls? Who is the least likely person to revive the Val Venis gimmick? How out of touch with the current product is Paul? How do you get a managers license? How many belts does Ultimo Dragon need? Who wrestled two falls with a broken neck? What's Sting been up to? What is Baby Scrivens allergic to? And who's your man?
