Marketing has changed a lot over the last 50 years, so it makes sense that the marketing mix, which we use to steer our efforts, has changed too, right? In the 1960s, Jermone McCarthy established his revolutionary model The 4Ps; these are: ProductPlacePricePromotionHowever, in recent times, critics of the model have pointed to it becoming outdated. Theorists such as Brian Fetherstonhaugh, now call for a total overhaul of the marketing mix to replace the 4Ps with the 4Es.But what are the 4Es? In the 4 E's model: Product becomes Experience Place becomes Every PlacePrice becomes Exchange Promotion becomes Evangelism This model is founded on the principle that the customers have seized control of the market place. We now operate within a customer-centric, experience economy. Audiences are more diverse and demanding now than ever before. And our job, as marketers, has shifted its focus away from selling products and toward creating sublime, end-to-end customer experiences. How Can You Implement the 4Es of Experiential Marketing? Samee & Larimo put forward a model for creating emotional and memorable experiences for consumer audiences, believing that these 4 steps are the cornerstone of experiential marketing: 1) Offering or stimulus2) Interaction between the customer and company3) Experience and value co-creation4) Lasting valueForbes also recommends staying ahead of the curve by understanding and, where possible, implementing the current trends of experiential marketing such as Immersive Experiences, Virtual Reality, and A.I & Machine Learning. To read more on the 4Es of Experiential Marketing, head over to our website and you can find links to our latest guide, The ABCs of Market Segmentation, right here.

On today's episode I have the Creators & Producers of the new Netflix show, "Historical Roasts", Eddie Furth and Ryan Pigg! I first met Eddie and Ryan very briefly in passing during my time at Meltdown when Historical Roasts and Fictional Roasts were regular shows at NerdMelt. However, this was the first time we've actually sat down and talked and it was such a great time! I talked with Eddie and Ryan about their time as interns at NerdMelt and how they created the show during one of their shifts, how the concept for the show evolved, bringing our mutual friend Samee Junio on as a Producer, selling the show to Netflix, working with Jeff Ross, seeing it on The Tonight Show, and so much more! A huge thanks to Eddie and Ryan for taking the time to come and join me on the show. They've had an incredibly busy week with press and the premier of "Historical Roasts" and were kind enough to still squeeze this in. Make sure you tune in starting TONIGHT at Midnight on Netflix and watch the show. The cast of these episodes are incredible. So much work went into making this show possible and I couldn't be more excited for Eddie, Ryan, and Samee to have the show that hatched in a small comedy room in the back of a comic book store come to life on Netflix. Thanks, Eddie and Ryan! Enjoy the episode!
"Personal space, guys!" This week, Molls invites Producer Samee Junio to step in front of the mic to dive into The Truth About Jane.Molls and Samee review this classic Lifetime film starring Stockard Channing, who plays a mother to a high school girl who realizes she's a lesbian. They discuss the poor writing, the awkward conversations between the characters, and so much more. Today's episode of Word With Friend is brought to you by THIS SPLITSIDER ARTICLE WE'RE FEATURED IN!!! To celebrate this occassion, Julian brought producer Samee onto the mic for another "insider" conversation. They talk podcasts and how Samee got started, they handle a LIVE heckler, and JULIAN TELLS US ABOUT THE ONE TIME HE GOT ARRESTED. This week's word is REVEL which comes from "rebel". Can you remember the last time you had a rowdy, rebellious celebration? Samee is a live comedy show producer and podcast producer in LA. She doesn't have a website yet, but she will gladly show you her kissing-the-heel-of-your-palm technique if you ask. As mentioned earlier, Splitsider featured us in their latest "This Week In Comedy Podcasts" article, which is an incredible honor and we couldn't be more excited. We couldn't have done it without our loyal #wordwithframily and we really do love each and every one of you nerds. Thanks for listening and sharing! Follow Julian Follow Samee Follow Word With Friend

NOTE: Julian did not have the production prowess of Samee on his side this week.Hey everyone!A bit of a change of pace this week for a variety of reasons! A) Julian's writing the description instead of Samee so it's gonna be a change in tone. B) Julian did the recording so it won't sound as good. C) Julian's at home in Maryland, so he sat down with one of his childhood friends who has nothing to do with the entertainment industry, which is more interesting because get over yourselves! We talk about how we became best friends (we had all 7 classes AND homeroom together in 6th grade), we talk about the time Damon and our other friends tried to get me into role-playing tabletop games, we talk about the Chinese restaurant in Rockville, his family went to, we talk about Mike's Hard Tea, we talk about Jackie Chan Adventures, and we talk A LOT about Pokemon. Join us, and happy holidays! -Julian
