Special Guest Alison Smith In this engaging podcast episode, Karen Roberts welcomes Alison Smith, a seasoned speaker, coach, and author, to delve into the theme of "seeing the wood through the trees." Alison's unconventional approach to coaching stems from her 23 years of experience and her podcast, "Landscaping Your Life with Alison's Alison Smith." She specializes in helping individuals navigate through feelings of being stuck by utilizing metaphorical techniques. Alison's journey into this field began during a challenging period in her life when she sought tools and techniques to overcome obstacles independently. Through her experiences, she discovered the power of metaphors in facilitating personal growth and problem-solving. With the support of her boss, she transitioned into coaching, finding fulfillment in aiding others in similar situations. The conversation unfolds to explore how language reflects our mental states when feeling stuck. Alison emphasizes the importance of reframing narratives and shifting mindsets away from self-limiting beliefs. She shares anecdotes of using nature as a metaphorical tool, guiding clients to recognize patterns and find clarity amidst confusion. The episode highlights common phrases such as "can't see the wood for the trees," revealing deeper insights into psychological barriers. Alison's coaching methodology involves distancing oneself from the narrative and focusing on actionable steps rather than dwelling on the problem. Through engaging dialogue and real-life examples, Alison and Karen underscore the significance of committing to paths, overcoming fear of the unknown, and seeking assistance when needed. They dissect common pitfalls like indecision and half-hearted commitments, urging listeners to embrace clarity and take decisive action. The podcast offers practical advice, encouraging listeners to engage with nature and visualize their obstacles as mountains, then envisioning solutions to overcome them. By reframing perspectives and embracing change, individuals can break free from stagnation and embark on paths towards personal growth and fulfillment. Alison's approach emphasizes empowerment and self-discovery, urging individuals to trust their inner wisdom and embrace the journey towards transformation. The episode concludes with a reminder to check out Alison's podcast for further insights and resources, empowering listeners to navigate life's challenges with confidence and clarity.

What do you need to let go of – or perhaps you need to turn over a new leaf – or be a little colder with someone? All potential insights from patterns in nature during autumn. As always, it's certainly preferable to think of a situation you'd like more insight on to have at the back of your mind as you listen to Alison sharing hints, tips and tools about how to see situations from different perspectives. Otherwise, it's a little theoretical and doesn't give you an experience of how transformative these tools can be. My life's pursuit is Learning. I have had an amazingly full life. I have been blessed with experiences of working with different types of people, in various business types and different trades. Spanning from ditch digging to sales, from self-care interests to becoming a trauma injury physician. I have traveled a life of great physical fitness to being injured and disabled. I currently provide the legal profession with medical advice. I've started online training schools; post graduate professional training courses; and I provide life coaching. I've worked with amazing leaders in industry and with incredibly smart everyday people. I love learning from them all. In the course of my life, I have come across powerful tools that have let me reshape my life, something I was hoping to do, but didn't know how to get started and how to discover the changes I sincerely wanted to x achieve. I used to think that struggle was the only way one could get ahead in life. How wrong I was. Yes, there are struggles, yet there are ways to work toward a life of harmony in achieving goals, not just bashing into submission to get our objectives. Our mind is in charge of designing our environment, of the way we interact with it and interact with other people's self-designed environments. We can shape our own landscape by tapping into the infinite capacities of our minds. You'll need s guide for that. I hope you will find these podcasts a great start in knowing who to look for in helping you make the changes you want to achieve. I will introduce you to ways of searching for a mentor, a life coach, a design guide who can help you create the life you want to achieve and enjoy. In this podcast adventure I want to share with you my life's experiences and passion for peaceful self-development. In addition to sharing the insights I've gained, I'm planning on bringing guest interviews of people from various walks of life who can help us find clarity and purpose for our lives. I am calling my podcast “Landscaping Your Life”. I hope you will find value in the journey we will take.
