"The Compound Effect is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices. What's most interesting about this process to me is that, even though the results are massive, the steps, in the moment, don't feel significant." - Darren Hardy, Author of The Compound Effect and Publisher of SUCCESS MagazineSo, why do many of us give up before reaching our desired results?According to Darren Hardy, one reason is that we haven't yet experienced the benefits of the Compound Effect.Having recently experienced these benefits in my own life, I wholeheartedly agree. When you finally reap the rewards of your consistent and persistent choices over time, you realize that what seemed like small steps in the moment were actually incredibly valuable. In this episode, I share some real-life examples of the Compound Effect in action, stemming from a commitment I made four to five years ago to take full responsibility for the results I wanted in life.Unlike goals such as losing weight or paying off debt, committing to personal and emotional responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, actions, and results can feel like unseen work with slow progress and intangible rewards.By sharing my experiences, I hope to encourage anyone doing this work to keep going so you can give yourself the chance to experience the payoff of the Compound Effect.I hope you'll take a listen (and read the book). -----Cited in this episode:The Compound Effect by Darren HardyMindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck, Ph.D.Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself by Kristin Neff, Ph.D.(Subtitle was recently updated to: Stop Beating Yourself Up and Leave Insecurity Behind)The Life Coach School Podcast with Brooke Castillo-----Original music by JMW-----1:1 mindset coaching is for anyone who wants to ask more of themselves but knows their thinking is getting in the way.If this is work you're excited to do, sign up for my free offering (a 90-minute deep dive coaching call) so you can experience firsthand how managing your mind can bring more peace, happiness, and success into your life.To book your free call, visit KariWatterson.com.------Let's connect:WebsiteInstagram:  @_thisonelifeLinkedIn

One thing that I see from believers is that they beat themselves up over sins that they've committed. They have gone to God and asked for forgiveness but they can't get over it for themselves. What happens is that they end up beating them selves up over and over for the same sin that happened a long time ago. We need to let go of the past mistakes and stop beating ourselves up. Do you beat yourself up when you don't do things perfectly? Do you struggle with that nagging feeling that you've never quite done enough? Perhaps, for example, you have felt guilty about motherhood when you're achieving success in your career. If so, you are not alone. The same character trait that drives you to succeed as a successful woman may also be weighing you down with a feeling of guilt that you should be doing more.So how do we learn to let go of these feelings of guilt so that we can live a life that is unencumbered by the unnecessary weight of expectation we place on ourselves (or others place on us)? Valorie Burton teaches us how to do just that and take back our joy in today's inspiring episode of Successful Women Think Differently.First, we start with an understanding of why women are more prone to guilt and an examination of what guilt looks like in our everyday lives. From saying yes when we mean to say no, to letting others cross our boundaries, there are myriad ways we allow ourselves to feel guilty (without even knowing it) – and then make poor decisions. Recognizing that guilt is just a message and so an opportunity for change is a positive approach to take. Learning the difference between authentic and false guilt is the start of our journey to take back our joy. So don't go on that guilt trip if you don't need to – it will only leave you in debt! Please join us. "Most of the guilt that we're feeling, it's not authentic. It's not that we have caused harm or that we have done something wrong. It's that we are telling ourselves that we've caused harm or we've done something wrong." ~ Valorie BurtonIn This Episode:- Are women more prone to guilt?- What does guilt look like?- How guilt can lead us to make bad decisions- The difference between authentic and false guilt - Understanding how we perceive guilt as a debt- Why vague or outdated expectations can lead to feeling that we haven't done enough- Why guilt can lead to enabling behavior- How have you been beating yourself up?- What expectations are serving you well? And so much more!Coaching Question:- Is this authentic guilt or false guilt that you are experiencing?Connect with Valorie Burton:- Check out all of Valorie's books here- https://valorieburton.com/books/ - Website - https://valorieburton.com/ - Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/valorieburton/ - LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/valorieburton/ - Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/valorieburton/ - YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@valorieburton

ProjectME with Tiffany Carter – Entrepreneurship & Millionaire Mindset

Calling myself out for all of us…a week in a negative brain spiral.  This time of year, I call the “Pressure Cooker of Dirty Diapers.” It's when the dopamine has worn off from the New Year's high, and the DOING of all things is in full force. Everything feels like it's spinning, it's all too much, and it makes me want to quit and run away to the Italian countryside.  In all honesty, I set myself up for this mental sh%t storm…without realizing it. You likely have to, which is why I'm sharing this story. It started the second week of December, when I dreamed up a list of all the things I want to get done during the holidays and that “down” period between Christmas and New Year's: Clean out my closets to donate to charity  Review and approve all of my emails & sales page for my big launch in 2023 Write a chunk of my book Start Pilates again Review every page of my website and provide edits to my team Writing these down made me feel empowered like I have my sh%t together (insert the dopamine high).  Then when the time came to do the things, I felt so overwhelmed it was paralyzing. Where do I even begin? It felt like so much, and none of it felt fun. (insert procrastination) As each day passed that I didn't cross off any one of these things, I started to beat myself up for being lazy, unmotivated, and not wanting to do these things that would only benefit me and other people.   Then in an attempt to get some relief, I told myself I would do these things in January. Well…nothing changed. I then started to beat myself up even more, to the point that it ignited my depression and anxiety disorders.  It wasn't until day 5 of feeling like crap, that I caught myself. Since when does being hard on ourselves and beating ourselves up make anything better? Yet most of us do this on autopilot. Here I am after many years of doing this work, and I still get sucked into it. When I shared this on Instagram, the response was insane. This is a widespread issue that needs to be discussed. Listen and learn how to shift out of it.  (LAST CHANCE to work with me 1:1 for a long time!) When you're a high performer and someone on a mission to reach the highest levels of success, you have to set the bar ridiculously high and get after it. This becomes problematic for people when they've set unrealistic expectations and goals so high they start experiencing a sense of shame and failure. Can you set ridiculously high expectations and still be cool with imperfection? Tom reveals why it's so important for you to do and believe that which moves you towards your goals. When aiming for perfection hinders your performance and ability to execute, it's time to rethink your strategy.
