A two-guest Wednesday, as Lisa Davis Olson dropped by the studio to talk about talking and her upcoming book release. After that, city councilman Mark Neumann joins to discuss the passage of the La Crosse 2024 budget, that includes a tax increase. With Olson in studio, we discuss, of course, the book, called, “From the Spotlight to Real Life,” and how the Nov. 25 launch isn't just some boring book signing — it's an improv show from 2-4 p.m. at the Pump House in downtown La Crosse. Olson has built a public speaking career on how to speak — but not just to the public or in public, but in every day life, too. After that, La Crosse city councilman Mark Neumann joins to talk about the 2024 budget that passed Monday at a public hearing that saw just one person from the public talk. We discuss some of the details in and out of the budget and why taxes are going up about 8% — up around $105 per $150,000 of property tax value.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week Lisa Olson lead us through the different types of spiritual gifts we can have, and gave us the space to unpack our personal gifts to understand how we can better serve God's Kingdom together.
Welcome back to the Bill Bradley Collective, where this week we continue our season long feature on women in sports with a profile of sports journalist Lisa Olson and her place in the NFL's problematic history of female disenfranchisement. Olson got her start fresh out of college at the Boston Herald, where she quickly ascended to cover the New England Patriots beat. Shortly into her first season, Olson was sexually harassed and psychologically assaulted by three Patriots in a disgusting locker-room incident, one seemingly abetted and endorsed by team higher-ups including owner Victor Kiam. The league investigation and subsequent “punishment” reflected an extreme dereliction of duty in meeting the severity of the player's and organization's actions and effect on Olson's livelihood. If anyone came out punished, it was the victimized reporter, forced to relocate to Australia in order to continue her journalistic career for the better part of the next decade. What should have served as a positive tipping point for the advancement of women in sports journalism, was merely a harbinger of how the league would continue to regard women in their orbit for the next thirty-plus years. The NFL culture as it regards treatment of females is no less, if not more, dubious today than it was all the way back in 1990. How the league has handled Dan Snyder and the environment he has presided over in Washington; the failure to assess any culpability to Deshaun Watson amidst myriad credible assault accusations; Greg Hardy; comments by Cam Newton; all reflect an open hostility towards any and all women with experiences potentially damaging to the league's mythical shield. Lisa Olson's plight, which in a moral world may have snapped the NFL out of it's abhorrent sexual biases and mores, instead shows that as everything changes, everything stays the same, and what has stayed the same is the continued degradation and abasement of women victimized by the league. Come for Olson's profile in courage, stay for an NFL profile in ignominy, this week on the Bill Bradley Collective.
Lisa Olson of Microsoft and Kris Britton of the CVE Program speak with Kelly Todd of the CVE Program about the transition that's currently underway for CVE Numbering Authorities (CNAs) to CVE Services 2.1 and CVE JSON 5.0. Their discussion includes how the new services and data format will enable effective and secure automation, improve workflows, and reduce the transaction costs of program participation for CNAs, as well as provide enhanced information in CVE Records for use by downstream consumers.Specific topics include how the CVE Services 2.1 web application adds the CVE Record Submission and Upload Service (RSUS) for publishing CVE Records and updating them over time to the previously released CVE ID Reservation (IDR) service, and how these two services will work effectively together for CNAs. Also discussed is how the new CVE JSON 5.0 data format provides the ability for CNAs to be more consistent with handling product versioning in CVE Records, among numerous other data enhancements to CVE Records; the programmatic conversion of CVE Records from JSON 4.0 to 5.0 and what is needed from CNAs regarding their converted records; the plan for an interactive, hands-on “CVE Global Summit 2022” to make the transition to the new the services and data format easier for CNAs; the planned deployment process and schedule; and more.

NAMSA is pleased to announce that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the organization Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment (ASCA) status on July 23. The ASCA Pilot Program, a first-of-its-kind assessment created by the U.S. FDA, reduces the regulatory burden on medical device manufacturers through consensus of biocompatibility testing requirements for efficiency. In this episode, our hosts are joined once again by Lisa Olson, NAMSA's Senior Vice President of Global Laboratory Operations to discuss the importance of this accreditation and what it means to NAMSA. But perhaps most importantly, what this status means for manufacturers who choose to do their testing with ASCA accredited laboratories. “It's the first time the FDA has done this for a biocompatibility lab.” Sheri Krajewski “I believe the FDA was really looking at the value of the tests. There are certain tests like cytotoxicity that are incredibly standardized. In essence, many labs are doing them the same. The FDA did a great job of picking out the studies are well established and many labs know how to do them and have established protocolsfor them.” Lisa Olson “NAMSA is accredited for biocompatibility testing and people would say, aren't you already? NAMSA has submitted biocompatibility testing for many years. Yes, we have. The difference here is the FDA has taken steps to pre-qualify certain tests.” Sheri Krajewski “There might be for ASCA studies limited deficiencies and limited review time. Hopefully none (deficiencies) for these (ASCA) studies.” Don Pohl “What you really care about is the data. And, by having these summary reports, you get rid of all the marketing part of it and some of the ‘fluff' and get a clean report of results. I think it's a great way to have both reviewers and labs focus on the most important part.” Lisa Olson Discussion points include: What biocompatibility tests are included in ASCA accreditation? How can manufactures capitalize on utilizing an ASCA laboratory for their biocompatibility testing? What types of devices are disqualified from ASCA testing? What are the potential challenges when implementing ASCA? How do manufacturers “order” ASCA Testing? Is everything ASCA?
Are you an author and get stuck on a project, get writer's block. Join me with Lisa Olson on tips to overcome this blockage.
In Lisa's words: I escaped my traumatic childhood through humor. This later became my business. Improvisation is a superbly useful tool I teach others for their businesses, projects and goals. I'm the 'icebreaker queen', and I promise to not scare your introverts.
Three decades ago, Mike and Ann were young beat writers covering the star-studded San Francisco 49ers--and Natalie wants to know where all the bodies (and bottles) are buried. Now an award-winning columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, Ann spills a lot of intel, relating the challenges of working in a male-dominated industry--including one especially daunting incident in the 49ers’ locker room--and looking back at some of the luminaries (Al Davis, Amy Trask, Eddie DeBartolo) whose feathers she ruffled along the way. We also explore the impact of the 1999 and 2019 Women’s World Cups, hear about some awkward conversations that Mike and Ann had with Steve Young back in the day and rail against the loose ends remaining after the finale of The Undoing.
I'm continuing my conversations inspired by October being breast cancer awareness month. So the topic is breasts. And this time, to be specific, it's Lisa Olson's breast implants. If you know Lisa, you know this will be an interesting conversation. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
My special guest Lisa Olson is an expert when it comes to looking deep into patterns that don't serve us well. We will talk about how to ease this fear of failure even as a grown woman knowing that it is time to make changes when it comes to caring for your health and be in full control of your choices to move forward. Lisa is a licensed therapist in California, and she helps her patients to practice new ways of engaging in life. She helps clients to stop looking to external factors and circumstances as the cause of our discomfort or dissatisfaction. I come across this many times with the women I work with in my coaching programs where fear of failure sabotages their weight loss success many times. It's heartbreaking, and it was time to talk about it openly. Lisa Olson is a really cool person, and she runs this really cool place called Practical Art, a retail space and gallery that features the work of 150+ local artists (and the only store that carries our book, The Arg in Blarg). She's also a photographer, and you can check out her work at lisaolsonphotography.com. We recorded in the shop, so you'll notice a few pauses here and there for customer traffic, some background music, and a point around the 30 min mark where I apparently forgot how to put words together. That last bit has nothing to do with where the recording was done, it's apparently just a special gift I have. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
