Beyond the Pixie Dust - A Movement for Walt Disney World Fans & Apprentices of Jesus

As an actor, one of the more difficult attitudes for me to manage is that of jealousy, and an elevated sense of competition for roles and even status in this industry. I've particularly noticed this as theater is opening up again after the long pandemic shutdown and other actors, not me, are back onstage again. My guest today, Peter Allen Vogt, is a talented actor in his own right but has struggled with this as well from time to time, especially considering he has a well-known identical twin who is also an actor and comedian. Sign up for the monthly WINMI Newsletter on the WINMI website - http://whyillnevermakeit.com I first got to know Peter Allen Vogt working for Disney. Both he and I worked at Tokyo Disney as well as the theme park in Orlando. He has since moved on to Universal out in Los Angeles, and he is also appeared in such TV shows as Hannah Montana, Parks and Recreation, and American Horror Story. But our first love is still theater. Whether it's classic shows or new musicals, Peter brings a larger than life quality to all of his roles. In fact, his size has been one of Peter‘s notable characteristics for many years. In our conversation today he shares his weight loss journey and what that has meant for his career. But first we talk about what keeps Peter going and the longevity of his career as well as the importance of surrounding yourself with those who support and nurture you as an artist. Final Five episode - https://youtu.be/HwiOlNZQVC0 Topics and people covered in this episode: Streetmosphere - street performers in the various Disney theme parks who don't have a theater or a home, but rather perform in the street for guests as they pass by. 1776 - a Broadway musical from 1969 with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone, based on the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Grumpy Old Men - a new musical with book by Dan Remmes, music by Neil Berg, and lyrics by Nick Meglin (adapted from the Warner Bros. motion picture written by Mark Steven Johnson). Cathy Rigby - Olympic gymnast, theater actress and producer Glenn Casale - director, actor, and writer; former Artistic Director of Sacramento Music Circus Mark Jacoby - Broadway and TV/film actor Blake Hammond - stage and screen actor Ken Page - longtime musical theater performer on stage and screen Michael Kostroff - stage and screen actor who was a WINMI podcast guest back in Season One Actors' Co-Op Theater - began in 1987 with a dozen actors and operates two 99-seat Equity-approved theatres on the campus of First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. Chicago City Limits - New York's long running award-winning and critically-acclaimed comedy revue that started in 1977 and relocated from Chicago to New York in 1979. Fellowship! - a musical parody stage play based on The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien's, with book by Kelly Holden-Bashar & Joel McCrary and music by Allen Simpson ---------- Follow Peter - Instagram / Twitter Support WINMI and get access to Members-Only Episodes on Supercast. When you take a trip to Walt Disney World, streetmosphere entertainment adds so much to the experience. You might pass by the Dapper Dans serenading guests, or Serveur Amusant atop a sky-high stack of chairs. In this episode, Mario, Beth, and Brian take a moment to appreciate these performers and pay respects to a few that have moved on from the parks.

McNair Wilson is a retired Walt Disney Imagineer who coined the term "Streetmosphere" (now commonly used in the theme park industry) and created street theater performances across the Disney Parks, especially at Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios (at the time it was still called Disney-MGM Studios). McNair is also responsible for creating the name "Downtown Disney" and for creating the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island. In addition, NcNair developed concepts for many of the Disney attractions we know and love today, most notably the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. In this podcast episode, I have the pleasure of chatting directly with McNair about his work at Walt Disney Imagineering and his experiences meeting and working with Claude Coats, Marty Sklar, Michael Eisner, Frank Wells, Mel Brooks, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and even Walt Disney. Disney's Streetmosphere characters have been entertaining guests for decades. They offer a sense of realism to the Fantasy Land that Walt Disney created and imagined for his guests. Recently, we lost one of those individuals. I'll honor His Honor on this week's Word of the Week – Weaver. If you've been on Main Street USA in the last 20+ years, you've probably seen Mayor Weaver. This is a tribute to the man behind the office.

Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun
Meandering Mouse Club TV - Disney Park Video Adventures from Around the World! Walt Disney World Produced in association with Frikitiki Productions. This is the third of three parts I'll be sharing my memories of Mousefest 2007. The videos will cover the entire trip from departure in Honolulu to departure in Orlando. While you don't quite get it all (I have 18 hours of video) you'll get a sampling of what a time Mousefest is between Mousefest activities and activities at the Walt Disney World Resort itself. We'll ride roller coasters, boats, and monorails. We'll interact with Streetmosphere (love ya Rosie!)and find out about werewolves! See the coolest audio-anamatroic in the whole world, visit with some neighbors in the Disney neighborhood, check out resorts, watch a bazillion parades and lighting of gazillions of beautiful lights, see story tellers around Epcot and experience several magical moments during the trip. Did I say 101? Well maybe...maybe not. Did I leave anything out? Oh yeah, gag on everyone's most favoritist drink in all the world!! About the only thing these three videos don't have is the Kitchen Sink (ate one of those by myself in August 2006...Don't believe me, check out my flickr pictures Kitchen Sink set) This video covers my last day on the trip after the official end of Mousefest. For me, this has been the best day ever that I spent at a Disney park. It was a totally relaxed day. Even though I did a lot, it wasn't a totally blow out rushed day. I love the streetmosphere over at Disney MGM Studios, now the Disney Hollywood Studios and some of my funnest experiences are captured here. Starting at the Studios, going over to Epcot and then finishing up at the Polynesian, this was just an awesome day. I hope you enjoyed hanging out with me on my Mousefest 2007 trip experience. Date: Tuesday, December 11, 2007. I just returned from a trip to Disneyland during the Christmas season. After being to both locations for the US parks, Disney is special, but while they are decorated for Christmas and the holidays it's a whole new experience. I would encourage you to check out either Orlando or Anaheim during December. Sharing that experience with other Disney fans during an event like Mousefest just makes you want to go WOW! Speaking of being with other Disney fans, mark April 30 thru May 3, 2009 to be at the DPN Westfest event at the place where it all started, Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Come out and join your favorite DPN podcasters in the park that Walt himself walked. Hope to see you there! Please rate the podcast at I-Tunes. Meandering Mouse and Meandering Mouse Club TV-(AUDIO and VIDEO) Disney Park Fun
Meandering Mouse Club TV - Disney Park Video Adventures from Around the World! Walt Disney World Produced in association with Frikitiki Productions. In this first of three parts I'll be sharing my memories of Mousefest 2007. About the only thing these three videos don't have is the Kitchen Sink (ate one of those by myself in August 2006...Don't believe me, check out my flickr pictures Kitchen Sink set) This first video will cover from my departure from Honolulu, checking out resorts, Mickey's Jingle Jammin' Jungle Parade, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Pa-tay, Podfest and the Harlem Gospel Choir. Dates: Tuesday, December 4 through Friday, December 7, 2007. Please rate the podcast at I-Tunes. Show feedback can be sent to mmctvpodcast (at) gmail.com.
