Laid-back South African Dominic Doyle, who now calls Columbus, Indiana, home, is a bonafide championship contender in the 2025 MotoAmerica SC-Project Twins Cup Championship. With two rounds and four races in the bank, Doyle is third in the championship with three podiums out of the four races. Unfortunately, mechanical issues kept him from scoring points in race one at Barber Motorsports Park or he'd be even closer to the front. In addition to racing his Giaccmoto Yamaha Racing YZF-R7 in the SC-Project Twins Cup series, Doyle also races a Yamaha MT-09 SP in the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship, and that's what he will be racing in the next round of the MotoAmerica Championship at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, May 4-6. We caught up with Doyle in the days leading up to the Road Atlanta round to talk about his racing and much more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show
Ricky Taylor has amassed championships and race wins in the top level of sports car racing. Currently driving for Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti in the Acura ARX-06 GTP car, he scored a victory at the 2024 Detroit Grand Prix and a podium with his co-driver Felipe Albuquerque at Road America. We met up with Ricky at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Media Day where he was kind enough to give me a few hot laps in the Acura Integra Type S DE5 race car. Being a Fast Lane instructor, I'm always learning something whenever I get on the racetrack either as a driver or sitting right seat. In this instance, I learned that this top level professional driver is human after all and can make a mistake. I asked him about it, and he admitted it and gave the reason why and what happened. He is a true professional, humble, polite and extremely talented. His “debrief” of this session is fascinating and he explains how he's learning a new race car on a race track that's only used once a year. A real insider's look into a track session debrief. Enjoy! NOTE: Ricky Taylor and his teammate will be going for victory in the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on October 12, 2024.
Felipe Albuquerque is a multi-time championship winning driver and races the Acura ARX-06 GTP car in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti (with teammate Ricky Taylor). We caught up with Albuquerque at the media luncheon just prior to the race at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. In this podcast interview, he gives us a fascinating insight into simulator prep work and specifically for this event. He goes into some detail between the Honda Driver in the Loop (DIL) sim versus iRacing. This is also a good interview for kids to listen to as he talks about how valuable his education was and how it has impacted his racing career. Enjoy! NOTE: Albuquerque and Taylor would go on to win the Detroit Grand Prix this season and score a podium (third) at Mid-Ohio in August. Going into the final race of the season, the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on October 9-12, 2024, he currently sits sixth in the championship standings.
It's not how you start, it's how you finish. Jaret Nassaney is definitely hoping that's the case as he heads to Barber Motorsports Park, May 17-19, with zero points in the bank after a difficult opening Supersport round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. We chatted with Nassaney about his rough start, his interesting second career, the inner workings of Altus Motorsports, and more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers and Bice.Support the Show.
Moto America 2024 season has officially kicked off, and what an exciting season it is going to be!! Official round one found us in Georgia at the world famous Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Will they be able to catch the rookie and the privateer? Will Josh Herrin prove that he does still belong on the Ducati Panigale V4 with the other superbikes? Will BMW dominate Moto America in 2024 and leave all other manufacturer riders questioning their decisions? Moto America is often exciting but this round was certainly one of the best road races of all time! Beyond that the 2024 season is shaping up to deliver many nail biting hectic races as we travel across America and determine a champion. Tune in this week and every week as we breakdown the happenings of Moto America, and throw our thoughts out as to where everyone will end up!!

In 2023, the IMSA GTP class introduced new cars built to the LMDh formula, featuring a hybrid energy management system as manufacturers were keen to show more relevance to the passenger car industry. The competition in the GTP class was intense, with six driver pairings from four manufacturers (Acura, BMW, Cadillac, and Porsche) entering the final race, the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, in contention for the championship. The top three entries were only separated by five points. Ultimately the Cadillac of Britain's Alexander Sims and Pipo Derani was victorious. Despite winning only once during the season (at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring), their consistent performances and strategy paid off. This victory marked Derani's second IMSA championship and the first for Sims. On the podcast today, Alexander Sims joins us to discuss his year in racing, alongside Autosport Chief Editor Kevin Turner, and your host Martyn Lee. Learn more about your ad choices. Avery Dreher burst onto the scene in a big way in 2023. The 17 year old earned his first Junior Cup podium in style in the opening round with a win at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. From there he didn't look back, winning the next day and taking four wins out of the first five races of the season. Dreher wrapped up the title early, ending the year 43 points clear of his nearest competitor. We caught up with the Floridian to chat about his championship-winning season and more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show

Renger van der Zande is teamed with Sebastien Bourdais in the IMSA WeatherTech Series racing a Cadillac GTP car for Chip Ganassi Racing. We caught up with him for this interview during a cold and rainy press day for the 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Besides being a multiple winner at the Rolex 24hrs of Daytona, Renger has successfully competed in multiple classes around the world. In this interview, Renger talks about the differences to the new (for this year) hybrid powered Cadillac compared to last year, gives props to his teammate in regards to their race at Long Beach last year and talks about his thoughts on what the strengths of his race car is and how he wants to get back to the winner's circle. A true gentleman and supremely talented race car driver; it didn't take too much longer before he found himself in Victory Lane at Laguna Seca Raceway in May. Enjoy! Welcome to episode 35 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Paul Woodman is at the airport this week, so slightly quieter than usual, but he's joined by Tiff Needell as always for the weekly motorsport roundup! We've had four major events form this weekend, including the Formula 1 in Brazil, Moto GP in Spain, IMSA in America and the Race of Remembrance in Anglesey, that Paul was a part of. Let's kick off with the epic race at Interlagos in Brazil! Another controversy between Red Bull and Mercedes, which started with Max Verstappen inspecting the wing of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. The wing was 0.2cm too big, resulting in Hamilton being able to go much faster than Verstappen's Red Bull. This led to not only a penalty for Hamilton, but also a fine for Verstappen for touching his car in the pits! When we got to the race, there was a further controversy, with Verstappen pushing Hamilton wide, resulting in both drivers leaving the track when Hamilton attempted overtaking Verstappen for first place. The stewards declared it a racing incident, but did Verstappen did this on purpose? What do you think? Paul's opinion in it is clear, despite having to be relatively quiet in his airport lounge! After taking a 25 grid place penalty over the weekend, Hamilton still managed to win the race, with Verstappen behind him, and Bottas in 3rd. Sergio Perez took the fastest lap in his Red Bull car. Onto Qatar for the next race! The last round of Moto GP took place in Valencia last weekend, too. With Moto 3 being the most exciting race, with Champion Pedro Costa taking his first pole position of the season, ironically at his home Grand Prix! He unfortunately got taken out of the race, leaving another Spanish rider, Xavier Artigas to win the race. In the main Moto GP race, Francesco Bagnaia took his fourth Win in a row on his Ducati! But of course, there were tears everywhere for the last race for Valentino Rossi, following a spectacular career for the rider. In America, the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta hosted the IMSA at the Petit Le Mans, with a last lap lunge for #55, taking the victory. The Championship Winners however were the #31 Cadillac. As previously stated, Paul was racing at Anglesey Circuit in Wales at the weekend, raising money for Mission Motorsport, who assist in rehabilitating those from the armed services by providing opportunities in motorsport and the automotive industry. Paul was racing in a team driving a Caterham 270 race car. The team finished a respectable 4th place, narrowly missing a podium. Next weekend, we have the Formula 1 in Qatar to look forward to, who do we predict to win? World Rally Championship goes into it's final round at Monza and the British Rally Championship at Ulster!
For at least another week, we can call Sean Dylan Kelly "Mr. Perfect" and that's not because of his perfectly coiffed hair or his bulging triceps. He's "Mr. Perfect" right now because he won the opening two races of the 2021 MotoAmerica Supersport Series at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta a few weeks ago. We caught up to Kelly this week to discuss his rapid start to the season, his close loss in the Daytona 200, his biceps, and his burning desire to race in the World Championships. Believe it or not, going into the 2021 season, Jake Gagne had never won a HONOS Superbike race. But that all changed now last weekend when the former MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Champion went out and got the monkey off his back in the series opener in Georgia. After earning pole position with a new lap record at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Gagne put his DNF from race one behind him and went out and dominated race two, ending a winless drought that dated back to 2015. Despite being a consistent top-five finisher in last year's MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, Xavier "The X-Man" Zayat came close to not having a ride for 2021. That situation has been remedied, at least for the opening round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, and Zayat is optimistic that he will be able to finish the season. Zayat has been a MotoAmerica regular since 2015, racing in various classes beginning way back with the KTM RC Cup. Always fast, Zayat's career hasn't seemed to catch up with his speed. MotoAmerica motorcycle road racing season opener at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Jacobsen finished the weekend very strong with a second place podium at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this past Sunday. After posting the fastest time in the wet session on Friday he suffered a hard crash during Qualifying 1 on Saturday. The results for the Celtic HSBK Yamaha Supersport racer in the opening Motoamerica weekend were much stronger than the finishes indicated. Coming into the race, the team had minimal pre-season testing. In addition, Jacobsen was injured in his crash on Saturday. Despite all of these limiting factors he was able to run in third place and finished in 6th overall on Saturday.
Jamie Astudillo races in the Liqui Moly Junior Cup. In 2018, she finished in ninth place overall. Astudillo is currently 16th in the overall standings this year, through one round, racing with Quarterly/On Track Development. She finished 9th in race 2 at the Suzuki Championship at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta the weekend of April 6-7, 2019.
