In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I'm joined by my friend and Doctor of Physical Therapy, Missy Albrecht. I first connected with Missy through our mutual friend Jill Miller, and I've been fascinated by her ability to seamlessly blend visceral and orthopedic approaches in a way that's both grounded and effective. In this episode, Missy shares how her journey from chronic fatigue and unresolved back pain led her to the transformative power of visceral work. You'll hear us talk about how the body compensates around internal dysfunction, what it takes to gain trust in your hands, and why general listening is often misunderstood. We also dive into how shifting our language around healing can empower both patients and clinicians. Whether you're new to visceral manipulation or have been practicing it for years, this episode will reignite your curiosity, challenge your biases, and remind you that your most valuable tool is the ability to listen.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeConnect with Missy on InstagramMissy's Clinic's WebsiteWork with Missy remotely: Organ Healing GuideLearn the LTAP™ In-Person in one of my upcoming coursesConsidering the viscera as a source of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction is a great way to ensure a more true whole body approach to care, however it can be a bit overwhelming on where to start, which is exactly why I created the Visceral Referral Cheat Sheet. You had to go and make it awkward, didn't you Karen…? On this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I unpack the crucial interplay between body positioning, ethical touch, and the nervous system's role in therapeutic outcomes. In this episode, you'll hear about a Karen calling me out in the comments of a recent Instagram post regarding my body positioning in an assessment I was doing in one of my courses. I address the reasoning why I utilize that technique, but I also share a story from my past as a patient illustrating the significance of verbal & non-verbal consent. In this episode of Unreal Results, Anna sits down with LTAP™ alumni Taflyn Wilschinsky, a pelvic health physical therapist, and Nikki Bybee, a movement practitioner specializing in dancers. They dive deep into how the Locator Test Assessment Protocol™ (LTAP™) helped them confidently navigate complex cases, especially when clients presented with layered symptoms or extensive medical histories.Taflyn shares how LTAP™ gave her the missing structure she needed to prioritize treatment for her diverse pelvic health patients, while Nikki explains how the assessment helped her bridge the gap between biomechanics and nervous system-driven strategies.Together, they discuss why thinking in “parts” falls short, how to meet the body where it is, and how this work leads not only to faster, more efficient treatment but also to greater confidence, better client outcomes, and less burnout. Whether you're new to visceral and neural work or you've taken a dozen courses, this conversation is a refreshing look at what whole-body assessment and treatment can truly be.Join the LTAP™ Level 1 NOWFollow me on:Instagram- www.instagram.com/movementrevTwitter- www.twitter.com/movementrevFacebook- www.facebook.com/movementREV/

If you're someone who wants to treat patients more effectively without wasting time on guesswork, this one's for you.In this episode, I sit down with Kacie Shively, a physical therapist in the Tri-Cities area of Washington and owner of Game Changer Physical Therapy, to talk about what shifted in her practice after taking the in-person LTAP™ course this past February.Kacie works almost exclusively with athletes, from middle schoolers to pros, and efficiency is non-negotiable in her one-woman practice. She shares how learning and applying LTAP™ helped her:Quickly identify and treat the real root of a client's lingering painFeel more confident in her assessments and hands-on decisionsAchieve better, faster outcomes with her athletes, one who had spring training deadlines right around the cornerWe also talk about why the structure of the LTAP™ course helped her actually implement what she learned (immediately), how the assessment process helps cut through complexity, and how LTAP™ gives you a framework to apply your existing tools with more precision, whether that's cupping, needling, exercise, or soft tissue work. It's not about learning more. It's about knowing where and when to use what you already know. This is a great listen for anyone wondering if LTAP™ is “worth it” or if it'll actually help in their daily clinical reality.Join the LTAP™ Level 1 course! Since the doors are open to the Spring 2025 cohort of the online LTAP™ Level 1 course I am sharing extra episodes of the podcast highlighting other practitioners and how they use the LTAP™ in their practice. (Enroll now! https://www.movementrev.com/ltap-level-1-online)In this bonus episode, I'm sharing a candid conversation with my friend and colleague Sara Tanza, a pelvic physical therapist from Northern California who's been using LTAP™ in her practice for a couple of years now. This was originally recorded live inside our Missing Link course community, but I knew I had to bring it to the podcast feed too.Sara and I talked about her journey through different aspects of physical therapy—from neuro to ortho to pelvic health—and how the LTAP™ approach helped her finally connect the dots and feel more confident in knowing where to start with her patients. We get into the whole-body perspective, how letting the body lead has completely shifted her treatment flow, and why this method fits seamlessly into all kinds of practices (and personalities).Whether you're an AT, PT, chiro, strength coach, or Pilates pro, this one's for you—especially if you feel that “I'm missing something” itch in your clinical reasoning.Oh, and yes—we geek out a bit about energy, ego, the patriarchy in healthcare, and why we need more yin in our treatment rooms.Enjoy!Considering the viscera as a source of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction is a great way to ensure a more true whole body approach to care, however it can be a bit overwhelming on where to start, which is exactly why I created the Visceral Referral Cheat Sheet. We're back for another episode of the Unreal Results podcast after a much needed hiatus! If you've been here for a little bit, you know my stance on swelling after injuries is to have it pretty much eliminated after 48-72 hours. Unfortunately, that opinion about swelling often gets confused with inflammation and tissue healing. In this episode, I talk about common swelling reduction strategies like R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and the newer P.E.A.C.E. & L.O.V.E. protocol and why they may not fully optimize the body's natural healing processes. You'll also hear specifics and my experience using my Swelling Reduction Protocol with my athletes for acute injuries, as well as managing excessive, stagnant swelling that can impede recovery. On this week's episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I talk about the mistakes that I see physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals make in their practice consistently. Most healthcare professionals are operating in an outdated paradigm that focuses solely on the musculoskeletal system, which I believe is the main contributing factor to these mistakes. Instead, I invite you to learn a different paradigm that considers your client as a whole organism by primarily utilizing the LTAP™ as an assessment tool that will lead you to better and faster results.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeEpisode 2: MovementREV Philosophy and MethodologyEpisode 60: LTAP™ Core BeliefsLearn the LTAP™ In-Person in one of my upcoming coursesConsidering the viscera as a source of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction is a great way to ensure a more true whole body approach to care, however it can be a bit overwhelming on where to start, which is exactly why I created the Visceral Referral Cheat Sheet. This week's episode of the Unreal Results podcast comes on the heels of attending Gil Hedley's Nerve Tour. In this week's episode of the Unreal Results Podcast, I talk about the often-overlooked role of the diaphragm. I bring this topic up because I see it often in my NFL athletes around this point in their season and how diaphragm stiffness starts to affect their performance. In the episode, you'll hear me talk about diaphragm anatomy and function, how stiffness of the diaphragm can lead to limited thoracic mobility and pain, and give you practical exercises that I use with my athletes to improve their diaphragm mobility. Regardless if you work with athletes or not, this episode can give you a lot of insight on understanding and treating the diaphragm if you think it's contributing to your client's thoracic spine or T6 costovertebral joint pain.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeEpisode 48: Small Intestine and Mesenteric RootsVideo: Prone Breathing w/ Coregeous Ball Video: Diaphragmatic Breathing / VacuumVideo: DaVinci RollingVideo: Segmental BridgeLearn the LTAP™ In-Person in one of my upcoming coursesConsidering the viscera as a source of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction is a great way to ensure a more true whole body approach to care, however it can be a bit overwhelming on where to start, which is exactly why I created the Visceral Referral Cheat Sheet. In this week's episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I discuss the importance of feeling instead of thinking. I recently took a course from the Barral Institute with one of my favorite instructors, Ron Mariotti, all about visceral vascular manipulation. Ron has been an integral part of how and what I teach with the LTAP™ because he's one of the main instructors who taught me how to be better at listening to the body with my hands. In the episode, you'll hear how a technique that was used on me has relieved digestive issues I've been having since September, the importance of going gentle on the pancreas, and why you shouldn't blame your client's body type if you're having a hard time feeling with your hands.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeEpisode 15: Hard No To Hard Tools In The GutEpisode 36: Listening To The BodyEpisode 72: Don't Be So Hard On Yourself: The Power Of Soft ToolsConnect with Susannah on IG HERERon's Book, Physiological & Clinical Applications of Visceral Manipulation, Vol 1: The AbdomenRon's Book, Physiological & Clinical Applications of Visceral Manipulation, Vol 2: The AbdomenBarral Institute courses (be sure to mention I referred you to your first course!)Learn the LTAP™ In-Person in one of my upcoming coursesConsidering the viscera as a source of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction is a great way to ensure a more true whole body approach to care, however it can be a bit overwhelming on where to start, which is exactly why I created the Visceral Referral Cheat Sheet. This week on the Unreal Results podcast, its all about understanding (or at least trying to) the nervous system. This week on the Unreal Results Podcast, I dive deep into the complexities of restoring knee flexion following an injury or surgery. This is a topic that I know all too well as I spent many days in PT having my knee forced into flexion and well, I still don't have full knee flexion. In this episode, I talk about some of my favorite techniques that don't require you to force your patient into tears to help them achieve full knee flexion. You'll hear me discuss some of my favorite approaches including the “standard” hands-on techniques with the typical biomechanical lens of view. But you know it wouldn't be an Unreal Results episode if I didn't talk about the holistic side of things including how specific visceral and neural influences can affect the knee as well as the importance of hydration. Welcome back to the Unreal Results Podcast! After a little summer hiatus, I'm back to recording new weekly episodes. In this particular episode, I talk about what I've been up to these past 6 weeks including working with one of my closest athletes, my birthday celebrations, and some personal health issues. But the main topic for today's episode revolves around the body's compensation mechanisms and how healthcare & movement providers should not fixate on them. In this episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I talk about the often overlooked sartorius muscle. This episode happens to be a clip from episode 26, Sartorius B.I.G. In this episode, I talk a little bit more of why the sartorius muscle should not be overlooked including its connection to peripheral nerves, vascular structures, and its fascial lines & containers. It's honestly one of my go-to spots for treatment and I share some of my techniques that I utilize in this area. In this week's episode of the Unreal Results podcast, you're going to find out that I feel some type of way about “releasing” the psoas with hard tools. This is a clip taken from episode 15, Hard No To Hard Tools In The Gut, and just by that title I'm sure you can tell how I feel. This episode highlights the potential risks associated with using hard tools in the gut as well as the safer alternatives that I love to use instead.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeEpisode 15: Hard No To Hard Tools In The GutCoregeous Ball by TuneUp FitnessFranklin Ball by The Franklin Method4" Soft Ball by Balanced BodyInstagram Reel: Why Hard Tools Are No GoodBirthday Sale: Get the savings HEREUpcoming In-Person LTAP™ CoursesLTAP Level 1 in Boston, October 2024Save the date for the annual birthday sale July 30th-August 2nd. This week on the Unreal Results podcast, I'm taking a clip from episode 33, Assessment Is Sexy, to highlight the importance of a good assessment. This was originally a guest episode featuring my friend, teammate, and colleague, Lex Lancaster, where we talk about treating her chronic shoulder pain. I of course highlight the use of the LTAP™ (Locator Test Assessment Protocol) as the basis of any comprehensive assessment to help guide you where the body exhibits any protection patterns. In this case study, you'll hear how targeting the liver and nervous system dramatically improved her shoulder pain and mobility.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeEpisode 33: Assessment Is Sexy (w/ guest Lex Lancaster)Episode 60: LTAP™ Core BeliefsEpisode 55: A Different Way To Treat Achilles Pain - Track Athlete Case StudyEpisode 46: Using The LTAP™ With Post Surgical RehabEpisode 30: Using The LTAP™ To Guide Treatment Of Costovertebral Joint DysfunctionEpisode 16: Why The Shoulder Comes LastBirthday Sale: Get the savings HEREUpcoming In-Person LTAP™ CoursesLTAP Level 1 in San Diego, November 2024LTAP Level 1 in Boston, October 2024Save the date for the annual birthday sale July 30th-August 2nd. For this week's episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I'm throwing it back to episode 28, The Power of the Trigeminal Nerve. This is legitimately one of my favorite episodes, which yes, I know I say that a lot, but what I talk about in this clip can be tremendously helpful for your practice if you don't know this information. In this episode, I talk about how the trigeminal nerve is more than just a sensory nerve to portions of the face and innervates the masseter, but also its role in the parasympathetic nervous system. I break down the anatomy of the trigeminal nerve and relate that to cranial and spinal nerves, headaches, and nervous system tension throughout the body. I truly believe that this information could truly improve the outcomes that you get with your patients.Resources Mentioned In This EpisodeEpisode 28: The Power Of The Trigeminal NerveEpisode 41: 3 Powerful NervesEpisode 38: Accessing the Parasympathetic Nervous System without Focusing on the BreathEpisode 29: What You Are Missing With Hamstring StrainsRelated Treatment: Regen Session - Reset Your Nervous SystemBirthday Sale: Get the savings HEREUpcoming In-Person LTAP CoursesLTAP Level 1 in San Diego, November 2024LTAP Level 1 in Boston, October 2024Save the date for the annual birthday sale July 30th-August 2nd. In this week's episode of the Unreal Results podcast, I revisit episode 16, Why The Shoulder Comes Last. Part of the reason why has to do with a story regarding my sister who has been dealing with chronic shoulder pain, which resolved immediately following a treatment that wasn't for her shoulder. But in this episode, you'll hear me challenge the traditional approach of treating the shoulder by first understanding the surprising connections & influences of shoulder pain from the nerves and visceral organs.
