Natalie Lewis, partner at Travers Smith, joins Lewis McLellan, editor of OMFIF's Digital Monetary Institute, to discuss what the legal implications of unified ledgers will be.

In the middle of the California COVID lockdowns Curtis and Deann Lewis's 5-year-old daughter, Natalie, needed heart surgery. During surgery the doctor punctured her heart and after fifteen minutes of CPR, she was left with a global brain injury from which doctors said she'd never recover. Curtis and Deann ended up spending over 100 days in the hospital with their daughter as she fought for her life. Through that time, members of their church rallied around them began a facebook group called "Pray for Natalie," which had people from all over the world praying for her and their family. Curtis and Deann Lewis join Yvette Hampton to talk about God's faithfulness through this tragedy and Deann shares how, with the help of her community, has been able to homeschool through this challenging season. This is an excerpt from Curtis and Deann's interview on the Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast. Coeur is a mother of three girls, a holistic health coach, a meditation guide, psychedelic advocate. In my travels, I'm learning to create sacred space wherever I go. Altars that honor the elementals the four directions, and the ancestors known and unknown. Bowing to the rising sun and offering gratitude to the feminine moon. On this journey, I've learned that home isn't a place. Instead, it's the peaceful embodiment of me. Home used to be wherever the family was or a physical location, but I've come to realize that home is a state of being where ritualistic practices come to life to remind me that home is the essence of my heart. Whenever you feel the need to leave your inner premises to go and save someone, remind yourself that this is something that is unconscious within you! This is your opportunity to go and save that aspect of yourself. That inner soul work... Natalie Lewis is an Aboriginal and South Sea Islander woman who was adopted in Queensland in 1974. Her adoptive parents were originally from Germany and India. Because Natalie was adopted in Queensland in 1974, she falls outside the Australian states currently offering redress to the Stolen Generations and the criteria for states that do offer redress. This leaves Natalie in somewhat of a no-man's land as she seeks recognition of the loss that her adoption caused to her culture, community and family. In this episode, Natalie shares her personal story of adoption. We also talk about the trauma that has been caused by the removal of Aboriginal children from their families. We recognise that this could be distressing to some listeners, however, we believe that these conversations need to be had to increase the understanding of the hurt and ongoing harm caused by these policies. To those who were affected, we are sorry. Thank you to Caroline Slade, FASS Team Leader, for her assistance in putting together this episode. This episode discusses adult themes and listener discretion is advised. Like many others her age, Natalie Lewis entered college weeks leading up to the landmark 2016 election and graduated just this past spring in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her college years spanned one of the most affecting and politically charged time periods in recent American history. Growing up as a person of color (Afro-Cuban) in a predominantly white, rural community in an overwhelmingly white state was an experience Lewis didn't fully grapple with until going to college, a time during which she began exploring her own background, racial identity and the various cultural factors--positive and negative--which helped shape who she is today. This spring, Lewis became deeply affected by the events spurring the increased growth of the Black Lives Matter movement and its growth across the country, including in her home region of New England. Lewis decided it was time to act, organize and use her voice to discuss issues of racial identity, cultural appropriation, racial representation in our society and how best to support the movements for people of color across the United States and globally. In this episode, Lewis discusses her own views on race and culture, terms of identity, what supporters can best do to help these movements and her own future plans, both in career exploration and her growing role as an social organizer and activist.

Such a fun episode with Valerie Woerner and Natalie Lewis! These twin entrepreneurs were sweet to take the time to chat with me over Skype one morning! We had so much fun and I'm convinced we would all be BFF if we knew each other IRL. For. Sure. We chat about their relationship as children, friendships, going away to college, and the time when their relationship was strained, and what they did to resolve their conflict. We talk a lot about personality traits and of course, the Enneagram! I also hear about how Natalie began her company and the new project she has coming out this Summer!! Don't miss next weeks episode when we hear how Valarie started her business, Valmariepaper in part two. Be encouraged, friends!!!
