POPULARITY
This episode tackles the leadership problem most of us are drowning in: too many priorities and not enough focus. Through a memorable card-collecting analogy, Tim and Junior show why strategy isn't about adding more: it's about subtracting. You'll hear why “if everything is valuable, nothing is,” how plural “priorities” became a modern distortion, and why the best leaders reprioritize daily, not quarterly. With practical tools like the “one thing” question, and hard-won lessons on communicating what you won't do, this conversation gives you a simple operating system for focus, momentum, and meaningful results today.
Before sports broadcaster Jen Mueller could break into sideline reporting with the Seattle Seahawks, win her Emmy, and score a Super Bowl ring (yep, she's got one), she had to bust through some significant gender barriers. She pushed past that male-dominated world and into a pretty hostile locker room, and it taught her some things. “You learn how to stand your ground, how to speak up, but more importantly, how to make the most of whatever interaction you actually get with somebody”.After 17 years with the Seahawks, Jen uses what she's learned in the locker room to help people communicate effectively, when every second counts.Today we're hearing Jen's lessons on how to use your time to speak up and break out, even if that box seems indestructible.About JenJen Mueller, founder of Talk Sporty to Me, is a business communication expert with 25 years of experience as a sports broadcaster. An Emmy-award-winning producer, she is currently a sideline radio reporter for the Seattle Seahawks and has worked with the Seattle Mariners. Silvia Resnik is a certified coach with a Master's degree in Business Economics. Her professional journey began as a kindergarten teacher, transitioned into HR Management, and eventually led her to entrepreneurship. On the surface, she had checked all the boxes: a fulfilling career, marriage, a beautiful home, and a well-structured life. Yet, despite these accomplishments, Silvia felt an inner void. Years of self-exploration led her to uncover that she is an alone-born twin—a revelation that provided some insight but didn't bring the peace she sought. The turning point came during her encounter with the Maasai people on a journey to Zanzibar. Their heart-centered way of living resonated deeply with her, igniting a profound shift in her life. Today, Silvia splits her life between Austria and Tanzania, blending coaching with Maasai-inspired wisdom to guide women who, despite outward success, yearn for inner alignment. Through her unique coaching style, she helps these women rediscover their inner voice and design lives filled with freedom and fulfillment. Committed to giving back, Silvia also supports Maasai women and children in forging paths toward independence through her charitable initiatives. What's the real difference between trust and psychological safety? Most leaders think having trust on their team is enough, but they're missing half the picture. In this episode, Junior and Tim explain why teams can trust their leaders yet still feel unsafe to speak up, breaking down the critical distinction between positive predictability (trust) and rewarded vulnerability (psychological safety). Through real-world examples and practical advice, they reveal how trust only gets people to show up, while psychological safety gets them to speak up, and why both are essential for high-performing, innovative teams. If you want to learn how to build a culture where people show up, speak up, and contribute their best ideas, this conversation is for you.

“The only one that cares about the extra five pounds you put on is you…Everybody in your life…should want to enjoy your presence and your photos.” For many women, having their picture taken is an excruciating experience; it's something they'd do anything to avoid. That intense self-criticism is something that portrait photographer Elizabeth Snyder wanted to address. So, a few years back, she shifted to a unique speciality. Working primarily with women aged 35 years and up she's developed a thoughtful, step-by-step process that's about learning to see yourself differently and letting go of shame. The results are extraordinary because the thing that makes Elizabeth, the perfect person to help these women overcome their doubt are the incredible trials and tribulations she's endured on her own path to self-fulfillment. About ElizabethElizabeth is a portraiture artist, confidence expert, and workshop leader passionately committed to helping women feel their best. She has helped hundreds of women feel comfortable in front of the camera. Elizabeth has been exploring photography for the last 33 years, starting with working in her family's darkroom at age eight. Since then, she's won many awards for her artistry, including the Portrait Masters competitions, the Castellani Art Museum's 20/20 vision: Women Artists in Western New York Exhibition, the Wedding Wire Couples Choice award, and the Top 10 Photographers in Buffalo through Expertise. I had a budding career as an attorney. I was making more money than I knew how to spend. I was living in the Upper East Side. Everything looked promising. On paper, it seemed like Justin Maffett had achieved the life he'd always wanted, but instead of enjoying it, he felt trapped in a career that was making him miserable. Then in 2020, COVID lockdowns forced Justin into a state of physical and emotional isolation, and that simmering resentment he felt towards his work turned into a mental health crisis - followed by arrests and felony charges - that would upend his entire life.May is Mental Health awareness month, so in this episode we're hearing about Justin's long journey back from the brink, and why when it comes to Mental Health, we need radical transparency.About JustinJustin Maffett is a writer, lawyer, and current graduate student at HEC Paris Business School. Hotter Than Ever unearths the unconscious rules that keep us feeling trapped and taking care of everyone other than ourselves. We all have dreams, and fantasies, and grand visions for our lives, and you deserve the chance to make them all come true. Hear from amazing people about how they broke the rules and reshaped their lives for the better. We'll talk about career, ambition, reinvention, relationships, divorce, dating, sex (and more sex), aging, body image and more in a frank, irreverent way that also manages to be deep as f*ck.https://www.hotterthaneverpod.com/About The BreakoutThe Breakout is the hit podcast hosted by human resources and change experts Dr. Keri Ohlrich and Kelly Guenther. “It's very easy to say Gen Z's and millennials are demanding, they're needy, but if you really look at the core of what they want, they're basic human needs that we all want.”There's a generational divide in the work place that Madeline Miller wants to change. Madeline is a career coach who focuses specifically on Gen Z and millennial clients, who she says are entering the workforce with an entirely novel set of challenges.Madeline's clients are in their twenties, and grew up in the age of climate change, sweeping tech innovations, and being educated online during a global pandemic. That all amounts to a brand new kind of instability, so it's no wonder they need a unique type of guidance at work.In this episode, Madeline takes us through those shaky work stories - including her own, in her former life as a very successful but very unsatisfied entertainment lawyer (continuing with our over-representation of guests who were once dissatisfied lawyers…there's something to explore there!). She shares how she helps her clients find their footing, and explains why it's high time that employers respond to the needs of new generations of workers. “We can look at fertility, we can look at cognition, memory, the nervous system, sleep, really there's not a single system of the body that yoga and meditation don't have have evidence to support for helping you function.” Ann Swanson has written the book on the science of yoga. Literally. After dealing with chronic pain and anxiety throughout her life, Ann tried yoga and meditation. Reluctant at first, once she started seeing real improvements, she went all in - and today, Ann's published two books that map out the hard evidence on the profound impacts these practices can have on our health and well-being. In her books Meditation for the Real World and Science of Yoga, Ann breaks down how these practices can improve nearly every aspect of our health, and how anyone can build them into their day - without a complete lifestyle overhaul. It's January, the time of year when everyone hits the ground running. We're setting goals, building new habits, and pushing to start the year off strong. But all that momentum can come with a price. Stress, burnout, and routines that just don't stick. If you're feeling the pressure, you're not alone. So, in this episode, Ann explains how yoga and meditation helped her overcome her significant health challenges, and how they can help you too. She has dedicated her career to helping people harness the power of mindfulness, movement and the mind-body connection in tiny, manageable steps. No need for incense, chanting, or intense, lengthy, cross-legged sessions. It's the New Year's episode you need. We've got 30-second yoga moves, one-minute meditations, and the small, sustainable habits that can make all the difference.About Ann SwansonAnn Swanson teaches meditation to busy people with busy minds. She is the author of the bestselling book SCIENCE OF YOGA, which has been translated into over 15 languages. Her new book, Meditation for the Real World, illuminates the fascinating science behind meditation with step-by-step practices to help you find peace in everyday life. However, Ann wasn't a naturally “chill person,” and meditation didn't come easy to her. Overcoming chronic pain and anxiety led her to India to study yoga, to China to explore tai chi, into the cadaver lab to teach anatomy, to night school to become a licensed massage therapist, and, ultimately, to earn a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy. Ann blends cutting-edge research with ancient wisdom, resulting in realistic techniques you won't just learn – you'll love to live by!
