Daniella Pierson is the CEO and Founder of the Newsette, a women-focused newsletter which she started when she was at university at just 19 years old. I met Renee Watt briefly at a storytelling event in Phoenix with my great friend Andy Baker. Then we adjourned to a gay strip club and talked about DMT and multiverses and shapeshifting, as one does. Daniella Pierson founded the daily lifestyle- and business-focused newsletter, The Newsette, while on break during her sophomore year of college, and over seven years, has turned it into a $40 million business. That's thanks to, she said, a subscriber base of 500,000, that helped lead the company to end 2021 with a profit worth eight figures. Now, the 26-year-old entrepreneur, who also serves as the CEO of the media company, is planning to invest millions of dollars throughout the company to grow the business this year, including the newly formed creative agency arm, called Newland. Daniella Pierson is an inspiration, but the 25-year-old founder and CEO of one of the fastest growing media platforms did not always feel like the confident boss she is today. Possibly the next (better) Zuckerberg, Daniella founded The Newsette while still in college at Boston University. She'll be the first to tell you that she didn't necessarily love academics, and also that it took time and effort to cultivate the self-assuredness she radiates today. At BU, Daniella started listening to entrepreneurial podcasts like Superwomen (!) in order to create a daily email newsletter that recaps topics relevant to female professionals.
