Welcome to the 10th season of No Crying in Baseball! We appreciate those of you who have been with us since the beginning, those we've collected along the way, and we welcome you who are just joining in. It's also the week of our favorite national holiday, Opening Day. That means it is time for our terrible predictions. You will see no bias for or against any particular teams as we give you our best guesses as to pennants and the post season, as well as the major awards. The prediction we do almost always get right is our pick for teams that are fun to watch. Pottymouth picked the As for the AL as “young kids in Sacramento who DGAF” while Patti says the Royals for Team Italy plus Bobby. We agree on SD for the NL fun team for WBC joy plus the addition of Nick Castellanos, or as we say, the guy with two buttons undone but it feels like more. Pottymouth celebrates her successful, not at all terrible, prediction of Venezuela taking the WBC, and provides a wrap on the tournament. Patti preps you for the new MLB season with a taste of the new rules being tested in the minors this season, with a side of geometry. The league gets further into bed with sports gambling, this time with an added layer of Facist in Chief, Jr. The WPBL visits Fenway South, the WNBA's new CBA provides a major salary correction, and you too can own some WBC history. This episode was powered by the Day After Chachos, where tastes are actually shots and cause bad math to happen. Order yours here.We say, “I distracted you with facism again,” “This is actually a good pick based on research not just on Chachos,” and “It does just take a little while of having a rule to figure out the work-arounds.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. Please take a moment to subscribe to the show, and leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to NCiB. Become a supporter at Patreon to help us keep doing what we do. We now have episode transcripts available! They are available for free at our Patreon site. Say goodnight, Pottymouth.

Patriots continue to be undervalued by certain talking heads, but at this point in the season with the AFC Championship coming up, its best to let them cry about it. Then, Pats are well-represented as finalists for NFL awards, but how many honors will New England take home? And, Josh McDaniels has been more and more vital as the season goes along so the Pats need to pray he doesn't get offered a head coaching gig for next season.
In this episode of the Big Chill Podcast, hosts Frank and Eddie dive deep into the NFL Divisional Round. Josh Allen may have let the Bills down, but Sean McDermott paid the price. Were the Bills right to make a change in the head coaching position? Eddie expected the 49ers to lose, but the blowout win for the Seahawks has him worried about what the rebuilding process in San Francisco might look like. Drake Maye and the Patriots came out on top in the battle of the bad quarterback performances against CJ Stroud and the Texans, but neither Eddie nor Frank believes in their Super Bowl Chances. And the LA Rams made it past the Chicago Bears, but is Caleb Williams that clutch? Plus, Donald Trump wants to make the Army-Navy game extra special, Manchester City and Arsenal both slip up, Senegal beat Morocco in a bizarre Afcon final, and reaction to episode 2 of 'The Pitt'.

Nine months after the January wildfires in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu, FEMA may destroy homes that survived the fire damage but do have smoke damage, due to new flood standards known as FEMA flood levels. A nine-year-old kid named Jameson went to a Phillies baseball game and caught a foul ball, then he gave the ball he caught to an 80-year-old woman, because she's “way older.” Three people have been charged with stealing more than $40,000 in FEMA disaster relief funds meant for displaced residents who were impacted by LA's January wildfires.

In this episode, Robert breaks down why some investors felt far more pain than others during the week's market volatility and what that reveals about portfolio risk, beta, and balance. He explains how to think about high-growth names like Palantir and Robinhood alongside steadier compounders like Berkshire Hathaway and Visa, and why position sizing matters more than most investors realize. From crypto allocation to Fed policy shifts, he shares how he structures his own portfolio to outperform without getting blown up by drawdowns. Plus, a listener question on housing and interest rates sparks a conversation about what really drives mortgage costs.

It's a rare curriculum book that inspires NO negative comments. Ever. To hear, month after month, year after year, that a certain book turns kids into readers, ignites interest and discussion in class, hooks unengaged students like nothing else has. Long Way Down is one such book. It's a fast read, a novel-in-verse, by the former U.S. Ambassador for Youth Literature, Jason Reynolds. In my opinion it's perfect for 9th and 10th graders, but really, there's a lot there for students of any age. It tells the tale of Will Holloman, a teenager trapped in a cycle of violence by “The Rules” of his neighborhood - No Crying, No Snitching, Get Revenge. He's watched every man in his life fall to gun violence because of the rules, and now that his brother has been killed, the rules are set to snare him. Until he steps onto a very unexpected elevator ride. In today's episode of “Plan My Lesson,” we'll be planning a class period focused on the dialogue between Long Way Down, the novel-in-verse, and Long Way Down, the graphic novel. This week's request comes from an educator teaching a new graphic narratives course - which, by the way, sounds amazing. She'd like help crafting a lesson that guides students in comparing the two texts side-by-side, so that's what we're going to do! Whether you teach a version of Long Way Down, a different text that's been translated into a graphic novel, any other graphic novel, or even none of the above, I think you'll find new ideas for your lesson planning today. After we walk through the lesson itself, we'll be talking about helpful takeaways from designing THIS lesson that you can apply to designing ANY lesson, so be sure to stay tuned to the end. Grab the free Long Way Down lesson plan curriculum set here: https://sparkcreativity.kartra.com/page/1Eq309 Camp Creative : Your Shiny New Short Story Toolbox is coming June 23-27. The study of correlation is valuable, informative and, likely an over-indulged in activity on Wall Street. That said, there are important risk considerations when it comes to how significantly assets move together or do not. The task at hand in this short podcast is to illustrate and contemplate the diverging paths of two important correlations: that between the stock market and bond market and second, between equities themselves. If the stock market is diversifying itself in real-time, there are reasons to think it cannot last indefinitely. I hope you enjoy.
