On episode 401 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing and healthcare career podcast, Keith interviews Sarah Lorenzini, an expert Rapid Response Nurse Educator and the host of the awesome "Rapid Response RN" podcast. In the course of this inspiring conversation, Keith and Sarah discuss the magic, excitement, challenges, and professional satisfaction of rapid response nursing. Bringing clarity, comfort, hope, and calm is something Sarah loves providing her patients when they're at their most vulnerable and frightened, and she also deeply enjoys being a rapid response nurse educator. If you find rapid response nursing and trauma fascinating — whether it's your chosen career path or not — this episode will be a very fulfilling listen indeed. Sarah Lorenzini is a Rapid Response Nurse and Educator who loves telling stories to teach critical thinking. Her nursing career started in the ER, and she has since worked in the Cardiac ICU, on the Rapid Response Team, taught as a Nursing Professor and ER Nurse Educator, and COVID brought her back to the bedside as a Rapid Response Nurse once again. Sarah holds a Masters degree in Nursing Education along with her CCRN and CEN certifications. She has taught ACLS, PALS, and NRP, and is a speaker at multiple nursing symposiums. On her podcast, "Rapid Response RN," Sarah shares real-life stories from the frontlines of nursing and breaks down the pathophysiology, pharmacology, and the nurse's role in caring for that patient. She is married to the love of her life, Neil, and together they have five children and one grandson. She enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family, crocheting warm things even though she lives in Florida, and gummy bears. A nursing professor says paying students for their placements is a good first step to retaining staff. Health Minister Andrew Little is considering the move, as the country faces severe shortages in the sector. Students currently have to complete 11-hundred hours, but not all of that is in hospitals specifically. Massey University Professor of Nursing Jenny Carryer told Kate Hawkesby that in the surveys that have been done, financial distress comes up as a significant problem. She says it's a difficult problem, but she's pleased there is some consideration for one thing that can be changed. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I'm the seventh child out of eight kids. I came to Canada in 2011, sponsored by my brother, Joseph Osuji, a Nursing Professor. I had family members here, but I told them I was only going to stay with them for a month and then start out on my own because I wanted to challenge myself. And that's exactly what I did. I tried my hands on all kinds of work. This time I was working three jobs at a time morning afternoon night, you know, I was surviving on Red Bull at some point Red Bull came to its limit... “For anyone who knows Charles, this is not your typical interview!
