In the early morning hours of August 7th, 1987 customers at a Denny's Restaurant in Portland, Oregon heard screams coming from the dimly lit parking lot. Several customers rushed out to see what was happening, and when they arrived they found a naked, unconscious woman lying on the ground. The woman's body was covered in stab wounds, and a deep cut to her neck from a brutal attack. Two customers immediately began life saving measures while others looked on in horror. But one of the customers noticed a man quietly walk away from the bloody scene and slip into a small, beat up truck, which he then turned on before quickly peeling out of the parking lot, only narrowly missing the customers still watching this strange series of events unfold. The customer who had seen the man get into the truck was already on his way to his own car and as the truck sped down the road, the customer followed in his car only a short way behind. Little did this brave customer know that his actions that evening would lead to the arrest of a prolific killer. Sources:World's Most Evil Killers: Season 5, Episode 17 from World's Most Evil KillersRemains of suspected eighth victim of serial killer Dayton Leroy Rogers identified; additional tips sought from Clackamas County Sheriff's OfficeConvicted prolific serial killer returns to court for resentencing from KOIN 6 News Department of Corrections: Oregon Death Penalty  from Oregon.govDouglas Franklin Wright put to death in Oregon from the Associated PressFifth sentencing for serial killer Dayton Leroy Rogers delayed; jury must weigh in on crimes from The OregonianDayton Leroy Rogers from Murderpedia

While today's show was fun and light-hearted on the surface, we covered a very important topic - drinking and NOT driving. Lt. Warren Gosnell, Traffic Division Commander with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office joined us along with our 3 test subjects: Alex Hinton from our News Department, Joe Woodall, our Production Manager and Leslie Fizer - our sales rep Sarah's sister. Lt. Gosnell supervised and administered drinks and breathalzers at specified times for each of the 3 volunteers. We then went on the air to discuss the effects at each stage and talked about the myths of drinking. It was an eye-opening and educational 30 minutes. You can watch the entire show and an extended conversation after we went off the air on our Facebook page by clicking here. The alcohol lab was sponsored by Yellow Cab of the Shenandoah, LLC. Call them at 540-622-6060 for a safe ride home this 4th of July weekend.
