The Orlando Pride suffered through a miserable week on the road, losing to both 2026 NWSL expansion teams — Boston Legacy FC and Denver Summit FC — conceding penalties in each match, continuing to get no goals in the run of play by anyone not named Barbra Banda, and sustaining even more injuries. We discuss the two losses, look back at our score predictions, make our selections for Player of the Match for each game, and try to figure out what is going on with the midfield and how some players who showed such promise in 2024 no longer look like the same people out there on the pitch. We're not ruling out an Invasion of the Body Snatchers scenario. This week's mailbagbox asked about Kerry Abello firing off a flip throw in her return from injury, what area of need Caitlin Carducci most needs to address to help the Pride, and more. Remember, you can ask us anything by hitting us up on Twitter at either @TheManeLand or @SkoPurpSoccer and using the hashtag #AskSkoPurp. You can use that same hashtag and hit @TheManeLand.bsky.social up on Bluesky. Or you can visit our show page, scroll down, and fill out the handy form. We'd also appreciate any ratings or reviews you can leave wherever you get your podcasts, and if you do that on Apple Podcasts, we'll find them easily and read them on the show. After the mailbagbox, we look ahead to the team's upcoming trip to San Diego to play the Wave. Although the California sun has been kind to the Pride the last few years, the 2026 squad seems far too out of sorts to compete with a team that beat Washington despite not having some of its key players. But you never know what might happen when soccer boot meets soccer ball.We look at the series history, discuss the teams' places in the league, provide our key matchups, and make our final score predictions. If you'd like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we'd love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here's how Episode 123 went down:0:15 – Orlando went on the road, suffered more injuries, and got swept by the two NWSL expansion teams in an awful week.20:18 - The mailbagbox is quite smitten with Kerry Abello's flip throw, and who could blame it?31:57 - The Pride go back on the road to face the San Diego Wave, the league's best team at the moment.

It was a long, difficult road trip, but the Orlando Pride return to the City Beautiful with four out of a possible six points after a dominant win over the Chicago Stars and a scoreless draw against defending champion Gotham FC. The Pride have played well this season but started slowly in front of goal. But now the team has put together three consecutive results, and with a little better final product, this is a team that can cook.We look back at the excellent performance at Chicago, as Jacquie Ovalle twinkled among the Stars, Barbra Banda kept burning bright, and Hannah Anderson went supernova on her old team. (Have I exhausted the star puns yet? I admit to nothing.) We look back at our score predictions and select our Player of the Match. We didn't have any goals to break down from the Gotham match, but we discussed the difficulty of staying on the road for a second game, the physicality of how Gotham FC defends Banda, and the joy of keeping a second straight clean sheet. Plus, a look back at our predictions (correct result, incorrect score) and our Player of the Match vote is split. Our mailbagbox had questions about unused substitutions, Julie Doyle's hair, and more. Finally, we looked ahead to Friday's visit from Angel City, including former Pride favorite Emily Sams, who turned heel this off-season and shuffled off to Southern California. She might get a warm reception from the crowd, but hopefully the Pride attacking players will be less forgiving. We look at the series history, the teams' relative places in the table, and some of the visitors' key players. We also provide our key matchups and try to predict the final score. If you'd like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we'd love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site. Here's how Episode 117 went down:0:15 – Two game recaps, as the Pride had a busy week on tour.14:31 - Mailbagbox says its time for Doyle to re-adopt the buns.26:45 - The tale of the tape as Angel City searches for its first loss of the NWSL season. Will it happen in Orlando? Series history suggests not.

Roll up your sleeves and grab a big bowl of "Brain Grain," because The Filmlosophers are traveling back to the prehistoric era of... 1993! In the second installment of their "Reel Rewinds" mini-series, Hosts Eddie and Spencer, along with Intern Manager/Managing Intern Amy, unearth a fossil of animated nostalgia: We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. The crew dissects the other dinosaur movie Steven Spielberg produced that year, exploring how a film about T-Rexes playing golf and eating hot dogs in New York City stacks up against its prehistoric peers. They discuss the surprisingly dark tone of the villainous Professor Screweyes, the fever-dream animation style, and whether this Amblimation classic is a misunderstood masterpiece or a relic that should have stayed extinct. Does We're Back! still roar with charm, or is it just a lot of prehistoric noise? Tune in as we find out if these dinosaurs are truly welcome back!

Happy New Year, Filmlosophers! We are kicking off 2026 with high energy and even higher hijinks! Hosts Eddie and Spencer, joined by Intern Manager (and Managing Intern) Amy, are launching a brand-new mini-series to start the year: "Reel Rewinds!" To celebrate, the crew is traveling back 30 years to check into the majestic Majestic Hotel for a nostalgic look at the 1996 kids' classic, Dunston Checks In. The team dives deep into this chaotic gem starring Jason Alexander, Faye Dunaway, and a jewel-thieving orangutan. They discuss why this specific brand of animal-centric slapstick is a lost art, the surprising practical effects, and the hilarious (and slightly uncomfortable) reality that a movie about a primate terrorizing a luxury hotel would have a very tough time getting greenlit today. Does the movie still hold the key to our hearts, or should it have stayed in the lost-and-found? Grab your room service and join The Filmlosophers for a wild start to the new year!

What if Revelation 20 doesn't show TWO judgments… but ONE powerful Day of Judgment REPLAYED from Heaven's vantage point? In this final installment, we prove that John is not fast-forwarding 1,000 years into a second judgment — he's rewinding to complete the SAME DAY already seen.
The Orlando Pride concluded a grueling road trip since our last show, with stops in Mexico City and Houston after last week's win at San Diego. The team returns home, where it will play three competitive matches out of the remaining four on the schedule at Inter&Co Stadium, with a trip to Washington sandwiched in there as well.We open this week's show with a brief discussion of a forgettable Concacaf W Champions Cup match at Club America that saw the Pride fall flat in a 2-0 loss, handing the group to the Liga MX Femenil side. We then turned our attention to the NWSL match Friday at Houston, where it appeared the Dash would hold on for a 1-0 win until Simone Charley's storybook finish stole a point back for Orlando near the end of normal time. We break down the draw in Houston, check on our score predictions from last week, and make our selections for Player of the Match. We also touch on the difficulty in the remaining schedule, with a tough home matchup against Pachuca in Champions Cup and three NWSL opponents that are all above the playoff line. This week's mailbagbox was short and sweet, asking us whether all of the Pride players who are going to score goals this year have already done so. Finally, we previewed the Portland Thorns match coming up Friday in Orlando. The Pride haven't fared well against the Thorns over the years, but the teams are quite evenly matched. Orlando needs three points with a trip to play the Spirit looming. Poison tells us that every rose has its thorns, but will the Thorns provide Orlando with a sweet-smelling rose of a result?

Your cells are starving. Not for food—but for oxygen. In this episode of The Human Upgrade, Dave Asprey sits down with Dr. Jason Sonners, world-renowned hyperbaric expert and regenerative medicine pioneer, to reveal how controlled oxygen under pressure is becoming one of the most powerful tools in anti-aging and performance science. You'll learn how hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) triggers stem cell activation, rewires your epigenome, boosts mitochondrial energy, and reverses biological aging—if you use it the right way. Jason shares breakthrough findings from his latest PhD research comparing low- and high-pressure chambers, with surprising results on inflammation, telomeres, cognitive performance, and recovery speed. This is next-gen longevity—measurable, stackable, and customizable. From sleep upgrades and HRV boosts to stacking HBOT with fasting, methylene blue, or red light, this episode dives into what it takes to oxygenate your biology at the deepest level. You'll Learn: • How hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) triggers stem cell regeneration and cellular repair • Why mild-pressure chambers may be more powerful than you think• What HBOT does to inflammation, brain fog, and biological aging markers • How to stack HBOT with fasting, red light, and methylene blue for amplified results • What Dr. Sonners' PhD research reveals about oxygen pressure and genetic expression • The truth about oxygen toxicity—and how to avoid the common mistakes • How elite performers use HBOT for brain optimization, recovery, and resilience ** Get 30% of yourr tickets to the Biohacking conference by going to https://biohackingconference.com/2025 and use code ‘OXYHEALTH' ** Thank you to our sponsors! -Our Place | Head to https://fromourplace.com/ and use the code DAVE for 10% off your order. -Timeline | Head to https://www.timeline.com/dave to get 10% off your first order. In the first of an occasional series he delves into his archive to bring you interviews with Stephen Sondheim, David Bowie, and many more.In this first episode he remembers meeting the man who reinvented the musical Stephen Sondheim in New York in 2010. In this conversation they discussed his long and storied career, his tempestuous upbringing, his tutelage under the beady eye of Oscar Hammerstein, what makes a musical great. In moments of rare candour, Sondheim also spoke of his time in therapy, his anxieties about ageing - and did his best to skirt the subject of love...Read Mick's original interview with Sondheim here: Still cutting it at 80: Stephen Sondheim interviewMusicMitzi Gaynor sings "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" from the 1958 film of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific (Magna, 20th Century-Fox)Richard Rodgers (Composer) and Oscar Hammerstein II (Lyricist)Gloria Grahame sings "I Can't Say No" from the 1955 film of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! The Orlando Pride keep winning. We aren't used to that, but we're here for it. Barbra Banda has brought her lethal finishing to the City Beautiful and her fourth goal in three games was just enough for the Pride to squeak past previously undefeated Racing Louisville, 1-0. We check in on our score predictions, discuss the game in detail, and make our selections for Player of the Match. Our mailbagbox this week wants us to visit Tampa for some women's soccer. It also includes questions about the tackiness level of a hat, the sustainability of Orlando's offense, lineup changes when players get healthy, and more. Remember, you can ask us anything by hitting us up on Twitter at either @TheManeLand or @SkoPurpSoccer and using the hashtag #AskSkoPurp. Or you can visit our show page, scroll down, and fill out the handy form. We'd also appreciate any ratings or reviews you can leave wherever you get your podcasts, and if you do that on Apple Podcasts, we'll find them easily and read them on the show. After the mailbagbox, we suddenly remembered we forgot to talk about the North Carolina match. So, we checked in on our predictions, discussed the 4-1 win, and made our Player of the Match selections. Better late than never! We finished the show with our previews and our score predictions for the Pride's upcoming, first-ever meeting with expansion side Bay FC. The newcomers have been leaking goals, but also scoring them. Orlando will need to avoid a letdown to stay undefeated on Saturday at home. Here's how Episode 42 went down: 0:15 – The Pride weren't at their best Sunday against Racing Louisville, but they still managed to grind out their fifth straight win. We discuss! 15:18 – The mailbagbox contains both questions and offers to host your faithful hosts. 39:26 – We forgetful rubes remembered there was another game since our last podcast and dive into Orlando's win over the Courage, and we close with a Bay FC preview and predictions.

We're diving headfirst into the days of Savage Steve Holland classics and "PCU" shenanigans, sparking a wave of nostalgia that's sure to bring back a rush of memories. In our glorious age of streaming services, we never need to worry about recording anything ourselves - we just click “Continue Watching” and chill. But in the sad, not-too-distant past, you couldn't always just open up Netflix and binge all nine seasons of Suits whenever you felt like it. Instead, if you missed your favorite soap, tough noogies. That is, that was the way things were until the magical VCR entered the American household. Out of the house? No problem! Just pop in a cassette and you're golden. The only problem was that two companies wanted the glory of becoming the standard format on which people would record their shows - and neither was going down without a fight. Daniel teaches Rob and Ray about the infamous format war between Sony's Betamax systems and tapes, and JVC's competitor, the VHS; how the history of recorded and broadcast video on recorded tape media took some strange twist and turns involving World War II and Bing Crosby; Rob's and Ray's favorite streaming services; the legal challenges Sony faced from studios terrified that home recording would be the death knell of movie distribution; and why home recorded media is no longer something consumers really seem to want or even have access to.If you like what we're doing, please support us on Patreon, or you can subscribe to our bonus content on Apple Podcasts. Another year around the sun! It is the Winter Solstice which means it is time for our sixth annual "Best Of" episode of 3 Books. 3 Books began back in 2018 with a simple goal of counting down the 1000 most formative books in the world ... 3 books at a time. We wanted this show to help all of us read more and read better and we wanted to do that by being different -- with a lunar-based schedule and a deep intention of being an ‘intrinsically-motivated journey' with no ads, sponsors, commercials, or interruptions. We started collecting values like: "No book shame, no book guilt", "Humans are the best algorithm", and "You are what you eat and you are what you read." Over the years this journey has been a warm ray of sun in my life. I hope it's felt the same for you. My goal with the “Best Of” is to reflect on the year by picking a snippet from every Chapter and Bookmark that helps us pause and ponder. You'll hear (or re-hear) wisdom from our chats with Steve Toltz, Timothy Goodman, Johann Hari, Tank Sinatra, Suzy Batiz, Martellus Bennett, Chefs Osama and Houssam, Jully Black, Lenore Skenazy, Heather McGowan, Sahil Bloom, Ralph Nader, and J. Drew Lanham (his interview is coming out on December 26th!!) Thank you for sharing time with me and our incredible warm-hearted community of 3 Bookers around the world. I hope this (lengthy!) Best Of can keep you company on a long drive, late-night walk, or over some quiet moments through the holidays. Let's stop and reflect and then keep enjoying the ride.
