El sector turístico en Europa experimenta una sólida recuperación en el primer trimestre de 2024, ya que la llegada de extranjeros (+7,2%) y las pernoctaciones (+6,5%) en este periodo superaron las cifras de 2019, según el informe trimestral de la European Travel Commission (ETC). Amadeus ganó 313,9 millones de euros en el primer trimestre de 2024, cifra un 19,6% superior a los 262,4 millones de euros del mismo periodo del año anterior, gracias al crecimiento de dos dígitos de sus segmentos de actividad. Según un estudio elaborado por Condé Nast Johansesn, el 60% de los viajeros de alta gama son mujeres de entre 55 y 75 años, cuya renta anual supera los 95.000 euros y de los cuales destina alrededor de 8.000 euros para viajar. Comienza en Málaga el Vitur Summit 2024, el mayor encuentro europeo del sector de alquiler turístico. Durante dos días, más de 700 líderes y empresas discutirán el presente y futuro del sector, destacando a España y Andalucía como destinos preferidos a nivel internacional. La huelga de tripulación de cabina de Vueling en Francia afectará a más del 30% de los vuelos de la aerolínea previstos en el país durante el 8 y 9 de mayo. Tarragona, Barcelona y Madrid encabezaron el ranking de los principales destinos nacionales que los españoles visitaron en el puente de mayo, según los datos de Atrápalo, que revelan que más del 80% de los residentes eligieron el turismo nacional. Norwegian Cruise Line ha decidido que el Puerto de Barcelona sea la base estacional del barco Norwegian Escape para la temporada de verano 2024. Desde donde prevé que viaje regularmente en travesías de ida y vuelta de entre ocho y diez días por el Mediterráneo Occidental. Las reservas de tren en España aumentaron un 18% en 2023, alcanzando los 1.500 millones de euros, según Phocuswright. Este crecimiento refleja la transformación del sector ferroviario del país y será tema central en la próxima conferencia Phocuswright Europe en Barcelona.

Los alojamientos vacacionales en España tendrán un precio bastante superior a los del año anterior este verano. Así lo demuestran los datos de que dispone la compañía eBooking.com, que indican que en 2023 el precio medio por noche se situará en los 158€, en lugar de los 135€ que costaba en 2022.  España recibirá aproximadamente 50 millones de turistas este verano, entre junio y septiembre, con una proporción bastante pareja entre visitantes nacionales (51%) y extranjeros (49%), recuperando cifras similares a 2019, según el informe 'el modelo turístico ante la encrucijada de la recuperación', elaborado por CCOO. La red de aeropuertos de Aena registra más de 102,942 millones de pasajeros entre enero y mayo de 2023, lo que representa un aumento del 27,7% con respecto a las cifras de 2022 y del 2,3% con respecto a 2019. En este mismo periodo se registraron un total 910.806 movimientos de aeronaves (+12.2%), y se transportaron 324.492 toneladas de mercancía, lo que supone un 2,7% más que en el mismo periodo de 2022. Amadeus ha adquirido una participación minoritaria en el productor de combustible de aviación  sostenible (SAF) Caphenia. La empresa, con sede en Alemania, está desarrollando un método innovador para producir SAF de una forma más asequible y escalable. Esta es la primera inversión del especialista en tecnología de viajes fuera del espacio del software.  Travelplan, turoperador generalista de Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, llevó a cabo un fam trip de 4 días a Gran Canaria, junto a Turismo de Gran Canaria y Air Europa, al que asistieron un total de 40 agentes de viajes. Durante el viaje, los agentes de viajes visitaron las principales zonas turísticas de la isla y se alojaron en varios hoteles para así, conocer mejor la oferta del turoperador.  WeRoad, la marca de viajes millennial, ha lanzado la segunda fase de su campaña publicitaria internacional OOH. La campaña, que durará hasta finales de junio, muestra cómo WeRoad se posiciona como la marca de viajes más emocionante y de más rápido crecimiento de Europa. La fase uno, que se llevó a cabo en marzo, triplicó las búsquedas en línea sobre WeRoad. Destinux, el SaaS que digitaliza y automatiza todos los procesos y gastos de los viajes desarrollado por Consultia Business Travel, ha sido seleccionado como finalista para los Premios MIA 2023 que organiza el Club de Marketing del Mediterráneo.

La pactada integración de Air Europa en el Grupo Iberia pone a la firma resultante como primer conglomerado aéreo en tráfico doméstico, con casi un 36% de cuota sobre los viajeros al cierre de 2022 y especial peso en las rutas a las islas. EXCELTUR ha hecho público hoy las conclusiones de “UrbanTUR”: la tercera edición del informe que evalúa y ordena la competitividad turística de los 22 principales destinos urbanos españoles. Madrid, Barcelona y Valencia se sitúan como las ciudades españolas con mayores niveles de competitividad turística. El Consejo de Ministros ha autorizado este martes el nuevo contrato de los viajes del Imserso para la próxima temporada 2023/2024, con un aumento de 70.000 plazas respecto a la temporada anterior hasta alcanzar las 900.000, y con destinos en las 52 provincias de España. Phocuswright ha dado a conocer la creciente lista de ponentes para Phocuswright Europe 2023, que tendrá lugar en el Hotel Barceló Sants de Barcelona, España, del 12 al 14 de junio, centrándose en el tema de la conferencia: Viajeros. Titanes. Pioneros. Reyes Maroto se ha despedido hoy como miembro del Gobierno, sin revelar la fecha de salida, ya que va a concurrir como cabeza de lista al ayuntamiento de Madrid por el PSOE en las próximas elecciones municipales del 28 de mayo.
