This episode unpacks the book Psychopath Free by Jackson MacKenzie. You can grab a copy HERE. This seemed like the perfect content as follow up to World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day on June 1st. Ginny shares some of the key components from this book, including the red flags of being in a relationship with a psychopath, narcissist or sociopath. The author includes a comprehensive list of 30 in the book! Some other key highlights are pulling out some terminology that's used by the author that we haven't covered here before, such as having a constant, cognitive dissonance, word salad, flying monkeys and the crazy ex! What's great about this book is that it focuses a lot on becoming whole again through trauma recovery and healing after encountering these dangerous personalities. While it may be tempting to reach out to the new supply, think about putting yourself in the idealization phase and thinking you've met the love of our life, would you be receptive to believing it? Keep in mind, there's no timeline for grief or recovering from this type of abuse. The author also highlights the 30 signs of strength. A few of these are having compassion, taking accountability, apologizing, and being forgiving. Part of the healing process includes cognitive defusion. This means acknowledging your emotions and not dismissing the difficulties in life. This allows you to choose to move towards living more consistently in joy, peace and enlightenment. Axiia and I have both struggled with dating a narcissist and the devastation that it can leave in its wake. Struggles with self-worth, finding yourself again, why you attracted that in the first place are common feats to overcome. It starts with love bombing, overly charming and complimentative behavior, and it ends with you, a shell of the human you once were, questioning everything including if you are the crazy one. It is a journey of rebuilding yourself back up and learning how to self-love and it is more common than people think. We believe, the struggles that we have overcome have led us to exactly where we are today and are grateful for the lessons and the platform to help others. Tana Kiefer lives life deliberately, thoughtfully, and with purpose. She is determined to raise five children who are resilient and kind, and for whom the cycle of abuse has ended. Tana endured 15 years of domestic violence in the form of psychological torment, gaslighting, and coercive control. She became an expert in keeping the peace, doing whatever was necessary to protect her children and herself from a volatile, abusive person. Tana shares with us a simple truth: So much abuse is not physical. California is one state to recognize the damage of coercive control, and is in process of passing legislation to make it a criminal offense (SB 1141). We still have a long way to go before that abuse is criminalized as it should be. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence estimates 95% of abusers use tactics of psychological abuse on their victims. One of the most important lessons from Tana is about planning your escape from your abuser. For a year, she ferried clothes, documents, photos to a safe place in anticipation of the day when she would get away. Leaving wasn't easy - it never is - but Tana had prepared herself logistically for the fight to freedom. Our conversation concludes with Tana sharing a beautiful poem written daughter, an example of the hope that comes from a generation raised with the language and the knowledge to seek healthy relationships. Tana has read extensively in her recovery from abuse, and recommends these resources: - Power: Surviving and Thriving After Narcissistic Abuse by Shahidi Arabi (2017) - Unfu*ck Yourself by Gary John Bishop (2016) - Psychopath Free by Jackson MacKenzie (2015)

Tracy Malone has been there. She managed to get out of that relationship with a narcissist and survive and even thrive. She knows the steps you need to take to escape that relationship with a narcissist and the kinds of tricks they play in divorce and breakups, and she shares the exact path to freedom you need to take.  Tracy has seen the absolute worst and now has created one of the largest and most active narcissist abuse support groups in the world. She shares how she did it and what you need to do to escape.   More about Tracy: Helping Victims Find the Light at the End of the Recovery Tunnel and become surTHRIVERS She is the founder of the website www.narcissistabusesupport.com and an educator and coach for healing after a narcissistic relationship. She started coaching victims that are going through a divorce with a narcissist, co-parenting, in a relationship, adult children of narcissists, co-workers, siblings, in-laws, friends, and people who have a narcissistic child (young or old), and many other types of abuse. Each person comes to her in a different stage, some need education, some need an ear to finally hear them.    A traumatic series of life events─including being thoughtlessly discarded by her partner─ she was thrust into a personal downward spiral.  As I sought the answer to, “Why me?”, I discovered that she had been a victim of narcissist abuse. Like many, before that moment, she had no idea about the personality disorder known as narcissism. So she began to study it voraciously. Today, passionate about raising awareness on the subject, she is excited to share the empowering story of how she turned her life around in an effort to help others do the same. In addition, she is the founder of a Facebook group with more than 9000 members; her YouTube channel that has reached more than 1,400,000 survivors; and a Podcast & and she has a Pinterest Narcissist account that has seen more than two million monthly visitors. It is wonderful to see that in business we are moving more towards embracing emotional intelligence and that the psychological safety of people in the workplace is a key component to more profit. However, with the move towards more feelings sensitivity, there may be some unexpected downsides. This type of environment could make it easier for covertly aggressive people to avoid detection and promote their win at all costs agendas! There are individuals who employ any tactic available to keep themselves in a position of advantage over others. They do not have self-esteem issues, little self-doubt and little consideration for what others will think of their behaviour. The idea that people will keep away from conflict unless they absolutely have to doesn't apply here. This episode is inspired by some of the work that is emerging through such people as Dr George Simon author of In Sheep's Clothing, Dr David Schnarch author of Brain Talk and Psychopath Free by Jackson MacKenzie. A more expanded understanding and approach to fundamentally aggressive people is needed not only for the victim's but for the effective management of the different aggressive types too.

My guest is Jackson MacKenzie. Jackson MacKenzie has helped millions of people in their struggle to understand the experience of toxic relationships. His first book, Psychopath Free (https://www.amazon.com/Psychopath-Free-Expanded-Emotionally-Relationships/dp/0425279995/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_img_0/144-8048193-9032432?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EZ5WWJ9YFJNZVV9QW85P), explained how to identify and survive the immediate situation. In Whole Again (https://www.amazon.com/Whole-Again-Rediscovering-Relationships-Emotional/dp/0143133314) he guides readers on what to do next–how to fully heal from abuse in order to find love and acceptance for the self and others. Through his close work with–and deep connection to–thousands of survivors of abusive relationships Jackson discovered that most survivors have symptoms of trauma long after the relationship is over. These range from feelings of numbness and emptiness to depression, perfectionism, substance abuse, and many more. But he’s also found that it is possible to work through these symptoms and find love on the other side, and this book shows how. Through a practice of mindfulness, introspection, and exercises using specific tools, readers learn to identify the protective self they’ve developed – and uncover the core self, so that they can finally move on to live a full and authentic life–to once again feel light, free, and whole, and ready to love again. Special Guest: Jackson MacKenzie.
