Let's face it: Trying to conceive can be stressful, and pregnancy can bring with it its own set of anxieties before baby even arrives. In this episode of From First Period To Last Period, Kristyn sits down with Caledonia Buckheit, M.D., an OB/GYN practicing in Raleigh, North Carolina, to discuss how you can mentally prepare yourself for the potential ups and downs of TTC, and why mental health is so important to prioritize during pregnancy (and beyond). There's a prevailing narrative that those first few weeks after you welcome your baby are just blissful. But that's not the only experience women have before, during, or after giving birth, and it's time we reflect on that. In this episode of From First Period To Last Period, Kristyn sits down with Ashley Rodrigues, a Postpartum, Women's Health, and Sex Therapy Licensed Psychotherapist, about some of the many factors that can affect a person's mental health during the postpartum period — from birth trauma to PMDD to low sex drive. Because new parenthood is not always sunshine and rainbows, and that's okay. 1 in 5 new or expecting mothers suffer from a mental health condition during or after pregnancy, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Over the past few decades, there have been significant efforts to make new parents aware of the signs and symptoms of postpartum depression, but perinatal mood disorders and conditions like postpartum OCD are still shrouded in stigma, leaving many women suffering in silence. This needs to change. In this episode of From First Period To Last Period, Elyse Shull, a licensed professional counselor certified in perinatal mental health, walks Kristyn through the signs and symptoms to look out for during the prenatal and postpartum periods — because you can't pour from an empty cup. Brought to you by Rescripted and Trilastin, creators of scientifically backed skincare solutions that nurture and treat your skin throughout your pregnancy journey and into motherhood.

This episode unpacks the book Psychopath Free by Jackson MacKenzie. You can grab a copy HERE. This seemed like the perfect content as follow up to World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day on June 1st. Ginny shares some of the key components from this book, including the red flags of being in a relationship with a psychopath, narcissist or sociopath. The author includes a comprehensive list of 30 in the book! Some other key highlights are pulling out some terminology that's used by the author that we haven't covered here before, such as having a constant, cognitive dissonance, word salad, flying monkeys and the crazy ex! What's great about this book is that it focuses a lot on becoming whole again through trauma recovery and healing after encountering these dangerous personalities. While it may be tempting to reach out to the new supply, think about putting yourself in the idealization phase and thinking you've met the love of our life, would you be receptive to believing it? Keep in mind, there's no timeline for grief or recovering from this type of abuse. The author also highlights the 30 signs of strength. A few of these are having compassion, taking accountability, apologizing, and being forgiving. Part of the healing process includes cognitive defusion. This means acknowledging your emotions and not dismissing the difficulties in life. This allows you to choose to move towards living more consistently in joy, peace and enlightenment. "In total, I did five embryo transfers over two years," she says. "Two losses and three that didn't implant at all. I just can't believe I'm here. I was so sure two years ago that we were gonna have three kids. Now I'm in this limbo period where I don't know what to do next." In addition to her family building journey, Kristyn shares how she pivoted from founding The Fertility Tribe to co-founding Rescripted, which covers women's health and wellness from first period to last period. In this week's episode of the Money Boss Parent Podcast, I am privileged to have Abbe Feder, a fertility and life coach, and the founder of InCircle Fertility, as my guest. Abbe's personal journey through infertility and pregnancy loss led her to establish a community that provides vital support and hope for those on the path to parenthood. We discuss the emotional and financial challenges associated with fertility treatments and how services like InCircle Fertility can be a lifeline for individuals navigating these difficult experiences.Don't miss this episode—it's a testament to the power of support and resources in the face of adversity.Anna's Takeaways:The emotional toll of infertility on women. (4:19)Is it too late for women to have kids? (8:29)The turkey baker method of treatment. (14:46)The importance of self-care and financial planning. (19:57)Sharing your story is the best way to get the word out. (25:36)About Abbe:Abbe founded InCircle Fertility after emerging on the other side of her all-consuming struggles with infertility and pregnancy loss. During her six-year path to becoming a mother, she and her husband created the podcast Maculate Conception (audible) to process their deep grief and isolation while going through treatment after treatment.Through that podcast, women from all over the world reached out to Abbe, and almost accidentally, she began to help them on their own journeys. Abbe meets women and couples wherever they are in their path to parenthood - and wherever they are in the world - to provide the support and guidance needed to find a resolution. More than explaining what's going on in the process of Assisted Reproductive Technology, she holds hands and hearts through the often grueling experience. She is a recurring contributor to the blogs What's Up Moms and Fertility, Rescripted. And her newest podcast "The Fertility Chick" just released with iheartradio and cloud10 media.Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts Money Boss Parents! Created by Rescripted, Dear (In)Fertility is the first-ever podcast that doubles as an advice column for all things fertility and women's health. This season, join Rescripted Co-Founder Kristyn Hodgdon as she – along with a variety of women's health experts – explores holistic approaches to our reproductive, hormonal, sexual, mental, and overall health and wellness while navigating her own fertility journey outside of IVF. From the practice of cycle-syncing to the importance of pelvic floor therapy, we'll address some of the many questions women have about their bodies and share practical tips for improving your day-to-day life, and in turn, your fertility. It's time to end the shame and stigma surrounding women's bodies once and for all – from first period to last period. Who's with us?! Take our quiz, and get the best content from Rescripted, aka what we should have learned in Sex Ed, tailored to your experience.
