**Discussion begins at 5:00**Gabby Petito was born and raised in Blue Point, New York and was the oldest of 7 children in a blended family.  While attending Bayport Blue Point High School, she met Brian Laundrie.  After graduating in 2017, they reconnected and began dating in 2019.  Eventually, they decided to move to Northpoint, Fl to live with Brian's parents.  In 2020 they got engaged, and Gabby purchased a Ford Transit Connect - which the couple converted into a sleeper van.  On July 2, 2021 they set off from New York on a 4 month roadtrip through national parks.  Gabby was hoping to take off as a content creator, and was vlogging the journey on her YouTube and Instagram accounts about #vanlife.  On August 12, 2021 police responded to a 911 call in Moab, Utah. The caller had reported seeing a man attacking a girl in a van driving by.  The couple was separated and the police felt that Brian was the victim and no charges were pressed.  They sent him to a domestic abuse hotel for the night, and she stayed in the van. The couple then proceeded on their trip. On August 25 Gabby made a final post to Instagram and then stopped responding to texts or phone calls.  On September 11, Gabby's mother filed a missing persons report in Suffolk County, NY.  When police went to the Laundries as part of a wellness check, they learned that Brian had returned home in Gabby's van, without her.  But the Laundries had already hired an attorney and refused to cooperate with the police investigation.  The investigation let them to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, where Gabby's phone was last used.  On September 19, 3 weeks after the investigation had begun, her body was found in the park.  After the discovery of her body, a search warrant was issued on the Laundrie home, and it is then that we learn Brian Laundrie had disappeared days prior, last seen going on a hike.  A month later, on October 20, Brian Laundrie's parents discover his body in Carlton Reserve, a nature preserve near their home.  With him, they find a backpack that contains a journal with a partial confession – Brian claimed that he had killed Gabby, but only because she had a freak accident and was suffering and asked him to put her out of his misery.  The coroner eventually ruled Brian Laundrie's cause of death to be suicide by GSW.  However, a number of inconsistencies in the crime scene, and his parent's unwillingness to assist in the search for Gabby Petito, have led many online to speculate that Brian Laundrie is not actually dead, and that his parents helped him fake his death to cover it up.Send us a textSupport the showTheme song by INDA

Why Did the Laundries Stay Silent When Gabby Petito Was Missing? Former FBI Agent Reveals the Truth Could the Laundries really have been just scared parents caught in a whirlwind of chaos, or was their silence a calculated move? When your son comes home without his fiancée, and you find yourself suddenly on a family camping trip while the world searches for her, people start asking questions. Robin Dreeke, former FBI Special Agent and behavioral analysis expert, takes a hard look at the actions—or inactions—of Chris and Roberta Laundrie. Did they know more than they let on? Did years of enabling their son's volatile behavior lead them to a place where they could shut out the horrors of reality, even as protesters lined up outside their home? And let's talk about that eerie ability to find Brian's remains when hundreds of trained searchers couldn't. Was that grief-stricken intuition, or something else entirely? When does parental protection cross the line into obstruction? And most chillingly—what would you have done in their shoes? #GabbyPetito #BrianLaundrie #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #FBIBehaviorAnalysis #CrimeInvestigation #DarkTruths Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Did the Laundries know more than they let on? It's the question that has haunted this case from the moment Gabby Petito was reported missing. While the public has already convicted Chris and Roberta Laundrie in the "Court of Common Sense," the real question is—did they actually break the law? We're diving into the legal mess surrounding the Laundries' silence, their baffling behavior during the search for Gabby, and the sudden discovery of Brian's remains. Former prosecutor and defense attorney Eric Faddis joins to break down what's morally repugnant versus what's actually criminal. Could law enforcement have legally forced Brian out of that house? Did they botch their chance to stop this tragedy before it spiraled? And why does it feel like the justice system failed Gabby at every turn? If ignoring a frantic family desperately searching for their daughter was a crime, the Laundries would be behind bars. But is there an actual case here—or just another frustrating loophole in the legal system? #GabbyPetito #BrianLaundrie #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #JusticeForGabby #CrimeTalk #LegalLoopholes Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Christopher noted that Brian was "very nervous and very scattered" during the conversation. Despite the alarming nature of the call, Christopher claimed he did not understand the implication that Gabby Petito was deceased. Following this conversation, the Laundries contacted their attorney, Steven Bertolino, and sent him $25,000 to retain a Wyoming-based lawyer for Brian. Roberta Laundrie's public explanation of her "burn after reading" letter raises significant concerns about her credibility and the family's overall transparency. She claims the letter, which includes unsettling offers to assist in disposing of a body and breaking out of jail, was penned months before Gabby Petito's tragic death and was intended as a lighthearted attempt to reconnect with her son during a strained period in their relationship. However, the morbid content of the letter, coupled with the explicit instruction to destroy it after reading, casts doubt on her assertion that it was merely a benign, inside joke. The timing and context of the letter's release, found in Brian's backpack alongside his remains, further complicate the narrative and suggest a possible attempt to obscure the truth. Moreover, the Laundrie family's pattern of behavior throughout the investigation into Gabby Petito's disappearance and death has been marked by secrecy and a lack of cooperation. Their refusal to communicate with the Petito family during the critical period when Gabby was missing, combined with legal maneuvers to prevent the letter's disclosure, indicates a deliberate effort to withhold information. Roberta's explanation appears to be a retrospective justification aimed at mitigating public backlash rather than a genuine clarification. This pattern of obfuscation not only undermines the family's credibility but also exacerbates the emotional distress experienced by Gabby Petito's grieving loved ones.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Brian Laundrie's mom breaks silence on 'burn after reading' letter | Fox News

The "burn after reading" letter sent by Roberta Laundrie to her son, Brian, is deeply troubling, not just for its eerie phrasing but for what it suggests about the Laundrie family's attitude toward accountability. While Roberta has insisted that the letter was written well before Gabby Petito's murder and was merely an inside joke, the specific wording—offering to "dispose of a body" and referencing prison breaks—cannot be brushed off as lighthearted banter. The fact that she felt the need to explicitly write “burn after reading” implies she knew the contents were incriminating, or at the very least, inappropriate. If this was truly a harmless letter meant to cheer up Brian, why include such dark imagery? Even if taken at face value, it reveals a level of enabling and coddling that raises serious ethical concerns. It's one thing to love your child unconditionally; it's another to imply, even jokingly, that you would cover up a crime for them.Beyond the letter itself, the Laundries' behavior in the aftermath of Gabby Petito's murder only adds to the suspicion surrounding them. Their lack of cooperation with law enforcement, refusal to communicate with Petito's grieving family, and overall secrecy cast a dark shadow over their credibility. If Roberta's letter was truly innocent, why did they fight so hard in court to keep it from being released? Their actions suggest a pattern of protecting Brian at all costs rather than standing on the side of justice. Whether or not the letter was written before Gabby's death, the language used and the family's subsequent behavior make it difficult to believe that it was purely an unfortunate coincidence. It speaks to a broader issue of misplaced loyalty, where shielding a son from consequences takes precedence over doing what is morally right.in this episode, we get a look at that letter.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Brian Laundrie's mom's chilling 'burn after reading' note revealed (nypost.c

What drives a family to act with apparent callousness in the face of a tragic event? This haunting question forms the crux of the "Hidden Killers" podcast episode where Tony Brueski discusses the Gabby Petito case with Shavaun Scott, a psychotherapist and author. The focus is on the actions of Brian Laundrie's parents following Gabby's disappearance and the disturbing allegation that they were aware of her death well before it became public knowledge.    The Petito case has gripped the nation, not just because of the tragic events but also due to the baffling response of the Laundrie family. The allegation that they knew of Gabby Petito's demise and still chose to go on a camping trip has raised many eyebrows. Scott, shedding light on the psychology of such actions, suggested this could be an extreme form of callousness, a lack of compassion for Gabby's parents, and a history of shielding their son from consequences. "It's really disturbing that they didn't encourage him to turn himself in," Scott remarked, highlighting the potential for creating a sense of entitlement in their son.    The conversation delved into the concept of parenting and its consequences. Scott emphasized the importance of letting children face the repercussions of their actions. "If you don't allow your kids to have consequences, you may raise a monster," she stated, pointing to the possibility that the Laundries' parenting approach might have played a role in the unfolding events.    A particularly intriguing piece of evidence discussed was the letter written by Roberta Laundrie to her son, once thought to be a distasteful joke but now seen in a more sinister light given the context of Gabby's disappearance. "It sounds very literal," Scott observed, suggesting a deeper and more troubling dynamic in the Laundrie family.    Brueski and Scott also explored the potential for criminal liability. While Scott was unsure of the specific legal implications, she commended the civil lawsuit brought by Gabby's parents as a brave and right step. The discussion then turned to the harrowing realization that Brian Laundrie's parents might have known about his intention to end his life in the woods. "It's striking," Scott said, hinting at possible deep-seated psychological issues in the family.    This conversation with Scott provides a chilling perspective on the Petito case, suggesting layers of dysfunction and problematic parenting that could have contributed to the tragedy. It paints a picture of a family caught in a web of their own making, seemingly unable to grasp the severity of their actions or the pain they caused.    The Petito case, as explored in this insightful discussion, is not just a legal battle but a tragic story of a family's failure to address and rectify the consequences of their actions. It raises a critical question: How does the lack of accountability in a family setting contribute to the unfolding of such tragedies, and what can be learned to prevent similar situations in the future? As we continue to unravel the complexities of this case, it serves as a stark reminder of the profound impact of parenting and the devastating consequences of its neglect. How does the behavior of a family in crisis shed light on a tragic event? This question is at the heart of a recent episode of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, where Tony Brueski discusses the Gabby Petito case with Robin Dreeke, a retired FBI Special Agent and Chief of the Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program. The conversation centers around the actions of Brian Laundrie's family during the search for Gabby Petito and the revelation that Brian had allegedly confessed to them about Gabby being "gone."    The case, which has captivated the nation, took a strange turn with the Laundrie family's decision to go on a camping trip during the search for Gabby. Dreeke, with his profound experience in behavioral analysis, offers a unique perspective on this. He introduces the concept of "positive parental confirmation bias," where parents are unable to accept the negative behavior of their child. "It's a case of positive parental confirmation bias, where your child can do no wrong," Dreeke explained, suggesting this might have influenced the Laundries' actions.    The conversation delved deeper into the legal and psychological aspects of the case. Brueski questioned whether the family's knowledge of Gabby's death and their subsequent actions could push the case into criminal territory. Dreeke emphasized the complexity of proving such a connection, noting the need for hard facts and data to tie the word "gone" to Brian's actions.    Dreeke also highlighted the importance of understanding the family dynamics, which could play a crucial role in the legal proceedings. The relationship between Brian and his parents, and their response to his actions, could be pivotal in determining their level of involvement and liability. "It'll be interesting how they can defend themselves over what their son told them, and how close they were," Dreeke stated.    An intriguing aspect of the discussion was the potential impact of the letter written by Roberta Laundrie to her son. Initially dismissed by some as irrelevant, the letter now appears in a darker light given the new revelations. Dreeke pointed out the significance of connecting various data points to establish a behavioral arc in the Laundries' lives.    As the conversation unfolded, it became clear that while the Laundries' actions might seem morally questionable, proving legal culpability is a more complex matter. "Just because someone is doing something fairly deplorable and acting in a very nefarious way doesn't always make it illegal," Brueski noted, underscoring the challenge of finding a resolution in such a convoluted case.    The insights from Dreeke provided a new lens through which to view the case, one that goes beyond the surface-level facts to explore the underlying psychological and familial dynamics at play. As the legal proceedings continue, the role of family dynamics and the concept of positive parental confirmation bias will undoubtedly be key factors in understanding and resolving this tragic case.    The Gabby Petito case, with its many layers and complexities, leaves us pondering a crucial question: How do the deep-seated biases and emotional attachments within a family affect their response to a crisis, and how does this interplay with the pursuit of justice? This case challenges us to consider not only the legal ramifications but also the psychological underpinnings of family behavior in times of extreme stress. Gabby Petito's parents have longed believed that Chris and Roberta Laundrie knew Gabby was dead long before her body was found. In trying to prove it, mother Nichole Schmidt, and father, Joe Petito, have sued the Laundries and their attorney Steve Bertolino for intentional infliction of emotional distress.  They claiming the trio were aware that Gabby Petito was dead but chose to do nothing.   In depositions for the upcoming civil trial, we learn two days after Brian Laundrie is believed to have killed Gabby Petito, he makes a frantic call to his parents. In the August 29, call,  Laundrie tells his parents that Gabby is "gone" and he needs a lawyer. According to Petitio family attorney Pat Reilly, Chris and Roberta Laundrie did not admit to knowing Gabby was killed, only that they were told by Brian that she was "gone".  A retainer was sent to attorney Steve Bertolino six days later. Reilly, however, believes the family was told more than they are now admitting. Reilly has filed a motion to force Bertolino into revealing what Brian Laundrie told him.    Joining Nancy Grace Today: Patrick Reilly -  Attorney for Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt, Snyder and Reilly Trial Lawyers, Snyderandreilly.com  Caryn L. In a surprising turn of events in the ongoing civil trial between the families of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie, it has been revealed that Brian Laundrie's parents admitted to receiving a frantic phone call from him on August 29, 2021, just two days after the day Gabby Petito was believed to have been murdered. During the call, Brian informed his parents that Gabby was "gone" and needed a lawyer, according to attorney Pat Reilly, representing Gabby Petito's family.    This revelation emerged during depositions conducted for the upcoming civil trial, shedding new light on the events surrounding Gabby Petito's tragic death in August 2021.    While Chris and Roberta Laundrie confirmed that Brian told them Gabby was "gone" in the phone call, they did not admit to knowing that she had been killed, emphasizing only that Brian had used the term "gone."    In response to this development, attorney Pat Reilly stated, "I want to know what [Brian] told Bertolino. He probably admitted more. And did [Bertolino] know where Gabby's body was located?" Reilly has filed a motion to compel Steven Bertolino, the Laundries' longtime lawyer, to reveal any additional information he may have received from Brian during the aftermath of Gabby's disappearance. A hearing on this motion, as well as the question of whether Brian's attorney-client privilege should be upheld, is scheduled for December 20 in Sarasota County Circuit Court.    Ryan Gilbert, the attorney representing the Laundries in the Petito civil suit, has not responded to the requests for comment regarding this revelation. Similarly, Steven Bertolino has declined to make any statements on the matter.    The Petito family's allegations in the civil suit are based on the belief that, following Gabby's murder, Brian Laundrie used Gabby's phone to send text messages to her family in an attempt to deceive them. Among these messages, one text was sent to Gabby's mother, Nichole Schmidt, referring to Gabby's grandfather as "Stan." Schmidt has maintained that Gabby never referred to her grandfather by his first name, considering the text highly suspicious.    Nichole Schmidt and Joe Petito, Gabby's father, have brought a lawsuit against the Laundries and Bertolino, accusing them of intentional infliction of emotional distress. The Petito family alleges that the Laundries were aware that Gabby was deceased but chose not to take any actions apart from releasing a statement expressing hope for Gabby's safe return.    The trial for the Petito civil suit, which has experienced several postponements, is currently scheduled for May 2024. This new revelation regarding Brian Laundrie's phone call to his parents has added another layer of complexity to the legal proceedings, potentially bringing forth previously undisclosed information in the highly publicized case. Brian Laundrie's Parents Admit He Told Them Gabby Petito Was "Gone," Unveiling New Details in Civil Trial

Judge denies Laundrie's motion to dismiss gabby Petito lawsuit #Petito #Laundrie#CivilSuitGabby Petito's family filed an amended lawsuit against Brian Laundrie's parents – claiming they went on vacation with their son, all while knowing he had killed the 22-year-old Long Island native and the whereabouts of her body, according to a local report. The amended complaint was filed in Sarasota County after a judge there noted “procedural deficiency” in the suit originally filed in March by Joe Petito and Nichole Schmidt against Chris and Roberta Laundrie, a local NBC affiliate reported. Notably, according to the report, the new lawsuit claims the Laundries took Brian to a Florida campground in September 2021 while knowing he had killed Gabby, the report states. The suit claims the Laundries were also aware of the location of Gabby's body, which was missing for nearly a month until authorities tracked it down in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. “While Gabrielle Petito's family was suffering, the Laundrie family went on vacation to Fort DeSoto Park on September 6-7, 2021,” the suit states, according to the report. “They went on vacation knowing that Laundrie had murdered Gabrielle Petito, it is believed that they knew where her body was located, and further knew that Gabrielle Petito's parents were attempting to locate her,” it adds. The suit does not provide evidence as to how they knew the Laundries knew the whereabouts of Gabby's body, according to the report. Their attorney declined to comment in an email to The Post Friday. On Sept. 19, Gabby's body was found at the Wyoming campground. A medical examiner later ruled she'd been bludgeoned and strangled to death. The FBI did not directly say Brian murdered her, but they found he was the sole suspect in her demise. Shortly after Brian returned to his parent's home in North Port, Fla., he went missing inside of a massive nature reserve until his remains were found in late October. New Petito lawsuit filed against Laundries Gabby Petito's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Brian Laundrie's estate in a move that could end with the Petito family's obtaining the presumed killer's "notebook and writings," lawyers said Monday. The legal maneuver comes after Petito's parents filed a lawsuit March 10 accusing Laundrie's parents, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie, of hindering the search for their murdered daughter. In the new civil complaint, filed in Sarasota County, Florida, Petito's mother, Nichole Schmidt, acting as the administrator of her daughter's estate, is targeting Laundrie's estate for "damages which exceed $30,000." Brian Laundrie took responsibility for Gabby Petito's death in notebook, FBI says JAN. 21, 202201:00 "The death of Gabrielle Venora Petito resulted from the intentional acts of Brian Laundrie," according to the three-page complaint filed by the parents' attorney, Patrick Reilly. "As a direct and proximate consequence of Brian Laundrie's tortious conduct, Nichole Schmidt and Joseph Petito incurred funeral and burial expenses, and they have suffered a loss of care and comfort, and have suffered a loss of probably future companionship, society and comfort." The action, targeting the estate, is not likely to result in any monetary damages, said Steven Bertolino, an attorney for Christopher and Roberta Laundrie. Brian Laundrie's parents move to dismiss Petitos' civil lawsuit MARCH 31, 202203:10 “This lawsuit will most likely not be defended and the Petitos will have gained nothing more than a piece of paper that tells them what everyone already knows — which is that Brian was responsible for Gabby's death, as indicated by the FBI,” Bertolino said in a statement Monday. Petito's parents are likely to have filed the latest lawsuit in hope of gaining possession of the notebook found with Brian Laundrie's body, which has writings implicating him in her slaying, Bertolino said. Lawyers for both sets of parents are “working on that issue” now, Bertolino said. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/otcpod1/support

Gabby Petito's parents say Christopher and Roberta Laundrie knew their son, Brian, murdered his girlfriend. Petito and Laundrie were on a cross-country road trip last year when Gabby went missing. Her body was later found in Wyoming, and her death is ruled a homicide by strangulation. Laundrie returned to his parents' Florida home, alone, driving a van owned by Petito. The FBI says Laundrie confessed to killing Petito in a notebook found with his belongings. The Petito family accuses the Laundries of concealing information about their daughter's death and, say the Laundries also tried to hide their son from law enforcement. Brian Laundrie committed suicide in a nature reserve in Florida.  Joining Nancy Grace Today: Wendy Patrick - California prosecutor, author “Red Flags” www.wendypatrickphd.com 'Today with Dr. Wendy' on KCBQ in San Diego, Twitter: @WendyPatrickPHD Caryn Stark - NYC Psychologist, www.carynstark.com, Twitter: @carynpsych, Facebook: "Caryn Stark"  Sheryl McCollum - Forensic Expert & Cold Case Investigative Research Institute Founder, ColdCaseCrimes.org, Twitter: @ColdCaseTips Joe Scott Morgan - Professor of Forensics: Jacksonville State University, Author, "Blood Beneath My Feet", Host: "Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan" Laura Ingle - Senior Correspondent, Fox News Channel, Twitter: @lauraingle, Instagram: @lauraingletv Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

The FBI's Denver office said Thursday that remains found a day earlier in a Florida nature reserve are those of Brian Laundrie, who disappeared last month just days after his fiancée Gabby Petito was reported missing. The FBI said dental records confirmed the identification. Two local detectives visited the North Port, Florida, home of Laundrie's parents shortly before the FBI made its announcement."Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed that the remains found yesterday in the reserve are indeed Brian's," family attorney Steven Bertolino said. "We have no further comment at this time and we ask that you respect the Laundrie's privacy at this time."An attorney for the Petito family, Richard Stafford, said they are not doing interviews."They are grieving the loss of their beautiful daughter," Stafford said. "Gabby's family will make a statement at the appropriate time and when they are emotionally ready."Skeletal remains and clothing foundThe identification came hours after police in North Port said the remains that were found were skeletal and belonged to a human."They are human remains, no doubt there. I would say that the remains were consistent with one individual, you know skeletal remains," police spokesperson Josh Taylor told CNN.Investigators also found clothing believed to be consistent with what Laundrie was wearing when he took off September 13, according to Taylor.Less than a week after Laundrie went missing last month, authorities in Wyoming found Petito's remains in a national forest. Her death was ruled a homicide by manual strangulation. On Wednesday, investigators also found a backpack and a notebook belonging to Laundrie, 23, near the remains while they were searching the Carlton Reserve in North Port, according to FBI Special Agent in Charge Michael McPherson."The notebook to my understanding has not been opened. You know, that will need to be processed," Taylor said.A source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN the notebook is "possibly salvageable." The source said the notebook was "outside of the dry bag.""It had been clearly wet and they are going to use any potential means to dry that out before opening it," according to the source, who added: "They'll be very careful with it."The source said it is unclear how the notebook ended up outside the bag. When Taylor was asked about whether a weapon was found, he said he could not comment. When asked if there is an ongoing search for the murderer of Gabby Petito, he responded, "That is certainly not in the North Port Police Department's purview."During a search with police, Chris Laundrie was the first to spot an item belonging to his son, according to Taylor.Search conditions had been very difficultLee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said Thursday law enforcement had been searching in treacherous conditions, including nearly chest-high water full of snakes and alligators."These are very, very difficult conditions. You're searching in areas that you just can't walk up and look. It's not like you're searching a house or a car," he said. "These areas are huge and they're covered by water."The exhaustive search for Laundrie stretched over a month as authorities tried to piece together what happened to him and Petito during their road trip through the Western US this summer.Petito, 22, disappeared on the trip amid tensions in their relationship, and her remains were later found near where the couple had last been seen together.Laundrie, who had returned by himself to his parents' home in Florida, refused to talk with investigators and didn't return after telling his parents he was going to the nature reserve to hike.He was not charged in Petito's death, although he was indicted for allegedly using two financial accounts that did not belong to him in the days following her killing.Authorities, including several K-9 units and off-road vehicles, returned to the reserve on Thursday morning to further search the area.Brian Laun...
