One of the great photography myths is to NEVER shoot above 400 ISO.  But Lou and Julie see it differently, given the impressive upgrades in technology.  Do you know if you camera sensor is ISO invariant?  Do you know what ISO invariance means?   In this technical episode, Lou breaks down the DXO Mark sensor data for your camera system.  Learn what are the optimal settings for your system and how to get every drop of tech out of your camera by understanding the science. Most people don't understand or have never heard of ISO invariance so they stay stuck shooting only at one ISO, fully ignoring the latests developments in technology and post-production software.  It's quite possible you can be pushing your ISO's so much higher to gain precious shutter speed when necessary.  But are you? This weekend, we finished adding Blinka support for the low-cost MCP2221 USB to I2C/ADC/GPIO converter. This demo shows using Mu to plot sensor data with no microcontroller programming - we run Python natively on the PC, reading the sensor data through the USB/I2C converter. We think this could be really powerful when you want to do datalogging or analysis on a powerful computer, as there's no intermediary. Autonomous systems need to process large volumes of data which can arrive from multiple, diverse sensors such as RADAR, LIDAR and cameras. In this video, Dr Lyudmila Mihaylova explains how her research is tackling this challenge, by developing intelligent algorithms that can extract meaningful information from these large data sets.Lyudmila also discusses her research with the SETA consortium, which is helping to change the way that mobility is organised, monitored and planned in large metropolitan areas. By collecting and processing dynamic data from people, cars, city sensors and distributed databases, this project hopes to inform decision makers on how to improve town planning and infrastructure, as well as allowing individuals to plan their journeys in a more efficient and sustainable way.
