What should you do with the Bible? Is it a sword to fight Satan? A baseball bat for whacking others? A shield to protect yourself against criticism? Beer Historian John Burton and Eric Stanley, curator of the Museum of Sonoma County join Steve Jaxon and Herlinda Heras on Brew Ha Ha. John Burton also operates the Santa Rosa Bartending School. The exhibit ON TAP has been open at the Museum of Sonoma County since April. Check it out before it closes on September 1. This Saturday, July 20 there is a reception from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, where they will serve a very special beer. They will convert their sculpture garden into a beer garden. They will serve an original recipe from Jack McAuliffe, one of the co-founders of New Albion Brewery. Herlinda has brought some of the beer to taste today. It is a pale ale with Cascade hops. It's not very hoppy by today's standards but it was considered hoppy in 1977. Albion is the name of Britain in the Greek language. The Cascade Hop was the first type created in a university laboratory, in the early seventies. Russian River Brewing Co. is open in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Visit their website for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more. John lent the museum a lot of pieces from his collection, for the On Tap exhibit. Some bottles are as old as the 1800s. He also has a lot of pieces from the Grace Bros. brand, which was the great local brand from 1897-1966. John Burton knew Virginia and Cathy Grace. See our sponsor Victory House at Poppy Bank Epicenter online, for their latest viewing and menu options. The exhibition traces the brewing business from the arrival of German immigrants in the 1840s. This inspired the idea to transform the Museum of Sonoma County sculpture garden into a German-style beer garden for the event on July 20.

John Burton (1803-1877) English children's hymnwriter, I OFTEN SAY MY PRAYERS 1 I often say my prayers; But do I ever pray? And do the wishes of my heart Go with the words I say? 2 I may as well kneel down, And worship gods of stone, As offer to the living God, A prayer of words alone. 3 For words without the heart, The Lord will never hear; Nor will He to those lips attend, Whose prayers are not sincere. 4 Lord, show me what I need, And teach me how to pray; Nor let me ask Thee for Thy grace, Not feeling what I say.
Hätte der Herr das getan, hätte er außerhalb des göttlichen Willens gehandelt, und dann hätte die Verheißung des Schutzes nicht gegolten. fWotD Episode 2546: Death of Blair Peach Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Wednesday, 24 April 2024 is Death of Blair Peach.Clement Blair Peach (25 March 1946 – 24 April 1979) was a New Zealand teacher who was killed during an anti-racism demonstration in Southall, London, England. A campaigner and activist against the far right, in April 1979 Peach took part in an Anti-Nazi League demonstration in Southall against a National Front election meeting in the town hall and was hit on the head, probably by a member of the Special Patrol Group (SPG), a specialist unit within the Metropolitan Police Service. He died in hospital that night. An investigation by Commander John Cass of the Metropolitan Police's Complaints Investigation Bureau concluded that Peach had been killed by one of six SPG officers, and others had preserved their silence to obstruct his investigation. The report was not released to the public, but was available to John Burton, the coroner who conducted the inquest; excerpts from a leaked copy were also published in The Leveller and The Sunday Times in early 1980. In May 1980 the jury in the inquest arrived at a verdict of death by misadventure, although press and some pressure groups—notably the National Council for Civil Liberties—expressed concern that no clear answers had been provided, and at the way Burton conducted the inquest.Celia Stubbs, Peach's partner, campaigned for the Cass report to be released and for a full public inquiry. An inquiry was rejected, but in 1988 the Metropolitan Police paid £75,000 compensation to Peach's family. In 2009 Ian Tomlinson died after he was struck from behind by a member of the Territorial Support Group, the SPG's successor organisation; the parallels in the deaths proved to be the catalyst in the release of the Cass report to the public. The Metropolitan Police commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson, released the report and supporting documentation. He also offered an official apology to Peach's family. The policing of the demonstration in Southall damaged community relations in the area. Since Peach's death the Metropolitan Police have been involved in a series of incidents and poorly conducted investigations—the 1993 murder of Stephen Lawrence, the death of Jean Charles de Menezes in 2005, the botched 2006 Forest Gate raid and the death of Tomlinson—all of which tarnished the image of the service. Peach's death has been remembered in the music of The Pop Group, Ralph McTell and Linton Kwesi Johnson; the National Union of Teachers set up the Blair Peach Award for work for equality and diversity issues and a school in Southall is named after him. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:37 UTC on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Death of Blair Peach on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Salli Standard.

John Burton, beer memorabilia collector, is our guest on Brew Ha Ha with Steve Jaxon and Herlinda Heras today. He is working with Herlinda Heras who is assisting the Museum of Sonoma County with its upcoming exhibition ON TAP, about Sonoma County hops and the history or craft brewing. John Burton made a great collection of beer memorabilia while he worked as a bartender in Santa Rosa for a long time. He also operates a well-known bartending school called Santa Rosa Bartending. Herlinda has organized interviews with some of the biggest names in local beer history, like Tony McGee and Mark Carpenter, for the museum. She connected them to John Burton and he will be providing some choice items for the exhibit. Grace Bros. was a local brand that started in 1897 in Santa Rosa and the brand continued until the late 1960s. John's collection of bottles and cans starts in their first year. John has a lot of Grace Bros. pieces. A 1960s Grace Bros. Beer Commercial In the show, we hear a 30-second commercial for Grace Bros. beer, from John's collection. It was recorded probably in the 1960s in Hollywood, California. In the 1940s, Grace Bros. was the fourth-largest brewery in California. Here is the commercial: http://brewhaharadio.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Grace_Bros_Beer_30_sec.mp3 Russian River Brewing Co. is open in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Visit their website for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more. John Burton is a member of a beer memorabilia organization that organizes exhibits. Herlinda's friend Ken Hartoonian also has a collection. He was a guest on Brew Ha Ha recently. John shares memories of the Grace family and how they decided to stay in Santa Rosa instead of Southern California. See our sponsor Victory House at Poppy Bank Epicenter online, for their latest viewing and menu options. John is also the writer and publisher of some books about his collection. He has also written an instructional book about bartending, called Bartending Basics. Herlinda is organizing a reception for all of the ‘legends' of the local brewing industry. She will invite the founding fathers and mothers of the business. She is looking forward to the On Tap exhibition being full of really interesting, beautiful and memorable material. Visit Homerun Pizza, home of the Knuckleball! Fresh pizza dough made from scratch daily, la pizza è deliziosa! Russian River Brewing is a sponsor of the exhibit, so is Lagunitas and Oliver's Market. The sculpture garden is beautiful and they will turn it into a beer garden for one evening. The grand opening is April 27.

In this episode of the Decoding innovation podcast series, UrsaLeo Co-founder and CEO John Burton shares the company's journey and how XR technologies are changing industries and the world. With companies across industries generating ever-increasing amounts of data, a question emerges: How do you leverage this data to enhance the quality and improve sustainability? The wide adoption of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and the emergence of the metaverse are pointing toward the increasing enthusiasm for immersive 3D technologies. Combining a realistic 3D environment and real-time data generated by industrial equipment and facilities could change the way data is visualized and presented to stakeholders. By employing digital twins, organizations get a better understanding of the performance of their products, do better analyses, identify potential anomalies and improve collaboration. Increasing sustainability discussions in board rooms are also considered to be a driving force of immersive technology. XR technologies are gaining momentum and interest, and they are predicted to be ubiquitous across sectors. John Burton, CEO and Co-founder of UrsaLeo, a 3D platform that creates photo-realistic digital twins, dissects the evolving trends in the field and shares his insights on the impact of immersive technology. Key takeaways: XR technologies offer an immersive 3D environment that enhances the data generated by companies. This feature offers a new trajectory in data visualization — from viewing complex 2D real-time data to a more realistic 3D experience. The increasing adoption of virtual and augmented reality technologies is encouraged by C-suites. With XR technologies, they can view data in a much more interesting and understandable way. One of the challenges faced by XR companies is the sourcing of data from multiple technologies, as these data streams will have to be combined and translated into a single format.

A lack mentality is creating inefficiencies. The litmus test is… what are my motives. It's time for a VA.Idea: my fear of not having enough content. Or not being able to create enough content. Or running out of content and ideas as I'm going along. Not being able to create new fresh content. Is making me stretch other content unnecessarily. For example, the Damon Burton episode interview episode. I'm like I can turn this into five episodes so that way I'll be able to not have to worry about creating more so a lack mentality. I literally spent two days turning an interview and the five interviews when I could have just published it quickly and spent that time finding other interviews. What is a lack mentality and how does it impact your business?0:00Fear and lack of fear in content creation.2:21Watermarking the raw footage.3:23Turning an hour and 15 minute interview into a series.5:07Where are you having a lack mentality?7:16Want help getting your customer testimonials go to www.TestimonialGuy.comEmail me: contact@belove.mediaFor social Media: https://www.instagram.com/mrmischaz/https://www.facebook.com/MischaZvegintzovSubscribe and share with your business associates who could use a listen!Transcript: Mischa Zvegintzov 00:00Hey, do me a huge favor before you start this episode. And please rate and review this show. By doing this simple task, it helps me rank higher on the podcast charts, and helps me reach more entrepreneurs who are looking for free content like this, it will take you less than 30 seconds of your time. Thank you in advance. And I hope you enjoy today's episode a lack mentality. And how that is creating. inefficiency is a fear of lack, or a fear of not having enough. This is all around content creation. And how this is creating inefficiency in efficiencies. So I'm going to talk about on this episode, and I'm going to talk about it well, as I'm talking about, the last couple of episodes have been about time blocking and being inefficient and and I just had this moment of clarity. Another moment of clarity or awareness or color, which you will you know, I I interviewed people from my podcast. And I just interviewed this guy, David Burton, the SEO King, my name for him, not his, you can see him it Seo nation.com s e o nation.com. Or Damon burton.com. I believe he said Daymond burton.com is the best place to go. To find him and all his links. You can also find him on LinkedIn Daymond Burton, as well as Facebook Daymond, John Burton, but its contents awesome. He is really gifted at generating free traffic, with SEO, and then he has gifted himself with providing so much value with this content for free, that people want to work with him. He's really good at it, and just a good guy. And gosh, you may have already listened to those episodes or parts of them. Because I've turned it into a five part episode, which is part of my fear and lack fear, and you know, around content creation and and really feeling like, Oh, I've created this content, I need to stretch it out. Because I might run out of ideas. So far, that has not been the case for me. I can ramble on. Actually, that's that's not a that's a limiting belief. Because I'm not rambling on, I believe, because I'm talking to God. And I'm like, God, how can I be of service? And gods like, make these podcast episodes? So somebody? Is I so I'm being of service to somebody, perhaps it's just me, but I believe it's you The listener, I'm trying to add value. And you know, some people might not appreciate the way I add value, but a lot of you do. So thank you know anyway. So the Damon Burton episode, Mike great interview went great. And he was going to get him the content, his was going to provide him, you know, the raw interview footage so he could make little sound bites and snippets. And all of a sudden that started creating inefficiencies when I needed to do was just forward him. The episode, the raw, actually the raw video via Google shared drive, and he to edit it up to his heart's desire. But then I was like, I need to put watermarks on there to try and get some value for me, for myself, selfishly, because when he if you look at his reels, his Instagram reels and all the shorts and things that he makes, he's most of the time. Just cutting his team is making him center stage. So if so if it's gallery view, he's cutting out the to make it you know, more pleasurable and a better viewing experience. He's chopping off the interviewer, so it's just him most of the time. Or maybe that's how he's getting the content from the people that are interviewing him. But I was like, I need a watermark on there. So Misha can get some glory and exposure. And so all of a sudden, that took time. It's great. I can do a watermark mark now. Kind of well, I already knew how to do it, but I had to relearn And I wanted to make it spinning. So actually, I knew how to do the watermark. But I was like, No, I need to make it spinning, add effects to it. So another rabbit hole. But anyway, then I was like, Oh my gosh, I could turn this into a five part episode. And I had this fear, right, I give us like, oh my gosh, I could turn this into five parts. Under the guise of having, you know, it was an hour and 15 minute interview. And I was like, under the guise of making it more listener friendly. For the, for the listener for you the listener, right, like, who's gonna have time to listen to an hour and a half interview or an hour and 15 minute interview, let's turn it into five episodes. And then I can do one a week for, you know, five weeks. And all of a sudden, that's like having five separate interviews. But the underlying truth of the matter, the lack mentality was I might not get another interview, or, you know, having five, turning one in your interview into a five part series, which is not a bad idea. Let's be real. But it's taken me a lot of time, it's taken me two days to do watermarks, and turn this one episode that could already be published. And I've moved on. I'm still working on turning it into five parts, because now I got to listen more. And it's turned into this whole project, right. But I was like, I want to have more episodes, I want to maximize this one episode. And I because I might not have something to say tomorrow or next week. Or I might not get another interview. I think you get where I'm going with this, right. And I realized, oh my gosh, this last two days, as I've been a you know, trying to lop it up into five episodes, I could have just published the one forwarded it to him without any watermarks. And spent that two days inviting other people on the podcast. Hello, I'm doing a little bit of research, but my lack mentality, in this case. Now, I do believe there's some smart things going on, it's good to turn it into a five part episode and make it more consumable. But there was underlying fear, like, what's my motive? That's the key question, what was my motive? So yeah, it is gonna get turned into a five part series, cuz I'm already down that rabbit hole. And it's all in motion. And yeah, there you go. The lack mentality. So it's funny. I was like, Maybe I shouldn't record this episode yet. Because they don't have other examples. of, of, you know, where am I having a lack mentality that's holding me back or making me an efficient? And in so I was like, You know what, just let it rip. Go with it. And look at that I'm at eight minutes. Turns out there was plenty to say. But I would challenge you and encourage you to think where is where are you having a lack of a lack mentality? Where is your fear that you'll will run out of whatever that thing is. Creating inefficiencies for you, when you should just trust that there'll be more, write more content to create more ideas, more episodes, maybe more, more resources, what have you. And it also lets me know I could have found, I need to get a VA to help me a virtual assistant to where I can be like, hey, I need watermarks. Or, hey, just dish off my content to them and go like, hey, you know, you're getting paid X dollars an hour. crank this out. Here you go. I think that's honestly the next step for me. Anyway, I'm done. Thank you for listening. Thank you. Thank you for listening to this episode of the table rush talk show. For resources to help you sell your stuff. A lack mentality is creating inefficiencies. The litmus test is… what are my motives. It's time for a VA!Idea: my fear of not having enough content. Or not being able to create enough content. Or running out of content and ideas as I'm going along. And Not being able to create new fresh content. What is a lack mentality and how does it impact your business?0:00Fear and lack of fear in content creation.2:21Turning an hour and 15 minute interview into a series.5:07Where are you having a lack mentality?7:16Want help getting your customer testimonials go to www.TestimonialGuy.comEmail me: contact@belove.mediaFor social Media: https://www.instagram.com/mrmischaz/https://www.facebook.com/MischaZvegintzovSubscribe and share with your business associates who could use a listen!Transcript: Mischa Zvegintzov 00:00Hey, do me a huge favor before you start this episode. #62 - John Burton is an ultramarathoning badass! Not only is this ultra-fit speed demon from Michigan known to rock the speedo from time to time, but what really struck me is how humble and warm John really is.Sure, he has so many race wins, podium finishes, and has absolutely crushed a number of different events. But John also highlights the numerous times that races didn't go his way.We often talk about the GRIT needed to achieve your best, to dust yourself off when you fall, and become a better version of yourself. John has this in spades, and it's so evident throughought the conversation. Maybe it was highlighted the most when we talked in detail about his participation in the Barkley Marathon - a race known for being the most grueling on the planet!Where only the most elite are invited, and after hearing his story - you'll understand why. Shortly after recording this episode - we found out that John suffered a fairly significant injury - so we want to wish him a speedy recovery. We're also happy to announce that John will be a weekly RaceMob contributor! John will be answering your running questions in a weekly column on our site. So subscribe to our newsletter to ask questions and see John's answers.

The Indian Ocean Tuna Commission is meeting this week to try and protect the fish species. European vessels take home the biggest proportion of the stock, meaning local fishing communities often miss out, and tuna levels are depleting. How do we embrace a biblical message without embracing the bizarre? Author and teacher and self-described prophetic zealot John Burton shares his insights. See:
In the late 1780's in London, Robert Raikes was burdened for the multitudes of children who worked in the factories in slave-like conditions six days a week. They had no formal education and no time to attend school, so Raikes started a "Sunday School." The Bible was the textbook, and also the Book used to teach the children to read. Despite some criticisms, the movement grew exponentially. John Burton was a young man who became a teacher for Raikes' Sunday School somewhere around the turn of the century. He wrote simple hymns to teach the children truths in a way that they could easily memorize, since they couldn't read. One of these was "Holy Bible, Book Divine." Like the song says, "Precious Treasure, thou art mine."https://wordwisehymns.com/2012/04/13/holy-bible-book-divine/https://thescottspot.wordpress.com/2016/02/02/holy-bible-book-divine-written-in-1803/
John Burton is a fiery revivalists and we discuss riots and revival and the coming awakening we are contending for. In the new era we stepped into this year, there is a line of demarcation. We can’t go back to business as usual. John shares part of his personal story of encountering God, and where the Church finds itself right now. This may be hard to listen in on, but we’ve committed our lives to Christ and wholeheartedly seek Him to mature the Bride. Sometimes we find the story, sometimes the story finds us. Such is the case with this tale of two Keepers from the Pacific Northwest, the official/unofficial archivists for Pearl Jam. Caroline Losneck, a radio producer in Maine heard our Keepers series about activist archivists and rogue librarians and said to herself, “Hey wait a minute, what about that mythic vault in Seattle I’ve been hearing about for years filled to the brim with 30 years of Pearl Jam, who's keeping that?” We are especially keen to put Caroline's story out now, as Pearl Jam, a notoriously activist band, has gone all in for registering young voters and getting out the vote since at least 2004 when they took their Vote for Change tour through the swing states of Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida registering as they went. This 2020 election is no exception. Today Caroline Losneck and The Kitchen Sisters Present... Shawnda Westly is a familiar figure in California politics. From 2009-2018 she served as executive director of the state Democratic Party and "right-hand" of then-Party leader John Burton, overseeing both campaign strategy and day-to-day operations of the party. Westly's tenure saw a massive expansion in Democratic representation in the legislature, with the party surging to supermajorities in both houses, and a concurrent boost in the stability of the organization itself, boasting stocked coffers and a new headquarters on S Street in Sacramento. In the midst of this professional triumph, however, Westly suffered a devastating personal tragedy. Five years ago this week, Westly found herself in a hospital emergency room with "the worst headache of [her] life." The doctor who examined her concluded that she was experiencing a migraine, prescribed some painkillers and sent her home. Within 48 hours, Westly suffered a stroke that threatened to derail her life. Westly faced a harrowing and uncertain recovery, with the very real prospect that she that might never be able to live on her own again. She was just 45 years old. Five years later, Westly's life is back on track - but it will never be the same. Shawnda spoke with John Howard and Tim Foster about that experience, and about the grim realization that she had - like many Americans - been the victim of a medical error.

Today, I talk with John Burton who has been on and off the entrepreneurial track but definitely now prefers being an entrepreneur. John started his career as an electrical engineer and was tapped to run a start-up in Ireland, where he learned how to build a company from the ground up. He's founded and ran several businesses, most recently a fast-growing software services company which he cofounded with two Apple veterans, called UrsaLeo. UrsaLeo comes from the central idea of a company providing a “digital twin” that allows for virtual monitoring. UrsaLeo is uniquely positioned to help companies manage buildings in the time of social-distancing with the use of 3D technologies. John is finding that some companies are eager to use this time to implement new processes and strategies, proving that there might be hope for a quickly rebounding economy. John has seen his fair share of dealing with hard times, having had to settle in mediation with a former partner at this old company. He talks candidly about how he handles stress, and how yoga and classical guitar are keys to helping him get through his day. Now let's get better together Actions to Try or Advice to Take John works hard but is also sure to take breaks at times when it feels right. He usually plays classical guitar, because it engages a different part of his brain. Though John didn't know exactly what his new company would do, he found people he wanted to work with and explored what was needed and what they had skills, talent, and interest in. The only thing you can manage is your response to what happens. Entrepreneurship is full of highs and lows; find a way to manage how you respond to stay your course. Today, we continue the conversation with “The Cornerman”: remember in the movie Rocky when trainer Micky is in the ring advising the man himself when his life is on the line? Micky had been in his corner for all the ups and downs of training and life so when the pivotal moment in the ring occurred, Rocky knew who to turn to for the most accurate and winning advise. This is who Dr Jeff Spencer is for those who are at the top of their game and want to stay there.Beginning in a welfare home in the United States; committing, at 10yrs old to attend the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and then achieving it, finding movie producer John Burton as a father-figure & glassblowing artist mentor & later showing his work in NY Galleries; being recognized as International Chiropractor of the year; Winning Tour de France team Chiro & Mental Coach; and 45X Olympic, World, Tour de France, and National Championship Winner – this is no coach, this is no mentor, this is “the man you want in your corner” when you want to win and do it over and over again! And just when you thought that his clients like Tiger Woods, U2 and Nike would challenge him, its been his daughter Kin who he adopted at 10yrs old from the gritty streets of Columbia who really call him and his wife to a higher game. Years ago, I had the privilege of acting as Dr Jeff’s proxy-agent which allowed me to showcase his Champions Blueprint systems to the business community in Australia. One of the key things he taught me during that short working relationship was something I still employ to great success to this day: ALWAYS respond to people on the spot (even if I don’t have the answer for them yet – just update them). This may seem like a small thing but as I endeavored to get Dr Jeff on Australian soil and create sponsorship deals for him, there were many inquiries left open ended – rather than update him, I ignored messaging him bc I wanted to have some answers and clear guidance. I felt like silence was better than saying “I don't know yet” or “the iron is in the fire but no response” but Dr Jeff taught me that no matter how busy you are, staying connected is the priority! A huge lesson for me and one that has shifted the way I do business. Ok my friend, you ready to crack past the start line and get this race underway… Meet Dr Jeff:The First Leg of My Tour...OLYMPIAN AT 1972 MUNICH OLYMPICSGLASS ARTIST, PAINTER, SCULPTORMASTERS IN SPORTS SCIENCEPUBLISHED AUTHORThe Second Leg of My Tour...REVOLUTIONIZED MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FITNESS TRAINING IN MOTOCROSSRECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE LEADING SPORTS CHIROPRACTORS IN THE WORLD9 YEARS TOUR DE FRANCE CHIROPRACTOR AND MINDSET COACHThe Third Leg of My Tour...45 OLYMPIC, WORLD, TOUR DE FRANCE, AND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS9 OLYMPIC GOLDS 8 TOUR DE FRANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS23 NATIONAL AND WORLD MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS CREATED THE CHAMPION’S BLUEPRINTIn this case, at the age of 58, it was our daughter, Kin. There is an extreme amount of Christian witchcraft in the Church today. Some of this witchcraft manifests itself openly and some of it manifests in a way that is hidden. Whether the Body of Christ wants to accept it or not, witchcraft is here and it is actively working to destroy the anointing in many of God’s houses. We are teaching this tonight because you need to: 1) Evaluate yourself so that you can make sure you yourself are not a Christin witch or warlock. 2) If you are not operating as a witch or warlock you need to be aware that these Christian witches and warlocks are real and they have real power to destroy your person and ministry as a leader in the Body of Christ. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft… stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. The Bible equates the sin of witchcraft with rebellion. The Bible equates stubbornness with iniquity and idolatry. Witchcraft, iniquity, and idolatry are major sins punishable by death. Why? Because those practice these forms of sin are close to being completely depraved. Ezekiel 18: 20 (NKJV) The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. Exodus 22: 18 (NKJV) “You shall not permit a sorceress to live. Ezekiel 18: 26 (NKJV) When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies. Deuteronomy 4: 25 - 26 (NKJV) 25 “When you beget children and grandchildren and have grown old in the land, and act corruptly and make a carved image in the form of anything, and do evil in the sight of the Lord your God to provoke Him to anger, 26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not prolong your days in it, but will be utterly destroyed. John Burton wrote (July 25, 2019) on the topic of “Christian Witchcraft: Manipulation, Control and Resistance to Revival Must Cease!” Pouting and tantrums draw negative attention but also points out that something is severely wrong with the character of the person who is throwing the tantrum. It’s not the Pastors fault that God told you no. God told you no, to show you that you needed more time in the furnace burning up that flesh. If you are a member of the Body of Christ you need to learn how to follow.

Recorded live, Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the California Democratic Party convention - Capitol Weekly editor John Howard talks with The Nooner's Scott Lay about the bitter battle over the party chairmanship between establishment Dems and "Berniecrats." Inspired by the candidacy of Bernie Sanders, the left wing of the party surged in activity during the 2016 election and has continued to agitate for progressive causes. More moderate Democrats - often longtime party officials - have caught flak from the base for their more measured approach. Kimberly Ellis, in an upstart effort to replace John Burton as party chair, narrowly lost to 25 year party vet Eric Bauman, who was seen as a shoe in only months ago. John and Scott discuss the atmosphere at the convention and what all this means for the party in California, and DC.
Artists Josh Clare, John Burton, and Bryan Mark Taylor worked for years on a project called Saints at Devil's Gate. It consists of landscapes capturing the Mormon Trail, the 1,300-mile route from Nauvoo, Illinois, to Salt Lake City, Utah, that mid-19th century pioneers traveled on their migration west. The artists' intention was to pair their paintings with excerpts from historical trail journals by Mormon immigrants, which would allow them to construct a singular persona that could stand for the whole of the pioneer experience. The paintings record the mundane trail that accompanied the pioneers' daily wanderings. Practical activities are detailed such as washing clothes, picking wildflowers, and playing music and dancing together in the evenings. Beyond picturesque beauty, the paintings also explore a sense of the sublime and also sometimes the horrific. LDS Church History Museum Curator Laura Allred Hurtado discusses with Laura Harris Hales how researching the history for the book that accompanies the exhibit expanded her understanding of the experience of those who traveled the Mormon trail. For many, it was a rite of passage and the experience of a lifetime. Join us as we seek a more nuanced glimpse into what the Mormon trail meant to those who traversed it and discuss what we can learn from reading their experiences. To mark the paperback publication of Samuel Johnson Prize-winning author Philip 'Leviathan' Hoare’s acclaimed new book The Sea Inside, we held an evening exploring the wondrous world of whales. One of our best non-fiction writers and a fine broadcaster, Hoare wrote and presented the BBC Arena film The Hunt for Moby-Dick and directed three films for BBC’s ‘Whale Night’. He was also co-curator, with Angela Cockayne, of the Moby-Dick Big Read . Artist film-maker Jessica Sarah Rinland focuses on whales in both long and short works. She presented a screening of her film A Boiled Skeleton, depicting the journey of a bottlenose whale, caught in 1860 and currently stored in the basement of UCL’s Grant Museum. Ex-whaler John Burton read live from the newspaper article that covered the whale’s journey. The evening was hosted by Gareth Evans. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

So you think you know a little about borosilicate color, do you? Join Suellen Fowler & I as we take a walk down memory lane and explore the history and chemistry of colored borosilicate glass. Boro is notoriously difficult to color, because traditional coloring agents burn out at the temperatures required for boro. Starting with her early experimentation under the tutelage of John Burton and Margaret Youd, Suellen began creating her own color recipes while still in her teens. Her formulas became the basis of some of Northstar's original formulas back in the '80's. Her hand mixing techniques and incredible attention to detail produced some of boro's best beloved colors, including the rubies & the precurser to the amber purples. Find out how it all happened in this intriguing interview. Excerpts of this interview can be found in print in the Spring 2009 issue of The Flow Magazine. See Suellen in action! Her DVD, “Flamework: An Intimate Art” will show you her famed hand mixing technique, as well as the creation of a fire-breathing dragon, an Aurora bottle, a hobnail perfume bottle with stopper, and a spinning top. You can purchase the DVD at www.firelady.com Note: This podcast contains a telephone interview. At certain moments the audio may be less distinct than in an interview conducted in person. Nuneaton forms the backdrop to George Eliot's first published work of fiction, Scenes of Clerical Life, and it's the publication of the three stories in this book in 1857 - 150 years ago - that we are celebrating in 2007 with numerous events and this series of podcasts. Jane Markham is joined by local historian, and George Eliot fan, John Burton, Kathleen Adams, secretary of the George Eliot Fellowship and students of Nuneaton's King Edward the Sixth College to explore the town and how it relates to the town George Eliot called 'Milby' in one of the stories in the book - Janet's Repentance.
George Eliot was born Mary Ann Evans on the Arbury Estate near Nuneaton in North Warwickshire. Her father was the estate manager to the powerful Newdigate family (who still own Arbury today). This driving tour skirts the estate and visits places that feature in her first published fiction Scenes of Clerical Life which was published 150 years ago this year. This podcast is part of 150th anniversary celebrations and Jane Markham is joined by local historian, and George Eliot fan, John Burton on a trip that takes us from Chilvers Coton Church, where she was baptized to Griff House - now a restaurant - where she grew up
