Shawn describes himself as a sociopath. Using the renowned expert Dr Robert Hare's work, we explore the different forms of human predation that are often confused with one another. Shawn talks about a recent experience in Hawaii that has changed his view of the world. Randy Newman's "Guilty" Note from Spike: If you haven't read the 1954 novel "The Bad Seed" by William March (not to be confused with the children's book (!) of the same name), or seen the 1956 movie, also of the same title, consider me grabbing your lapels and shouting: "You NEED to read the book/ see the movie NOW!!!"

Join us for the newest episode of Apologia Radio. We are joined by Pastor Jason Wallace. We discuss the sad apostasy of Shawn McCraney. McCraney leads a group in Utah in which he claims to have the "best approach to Christianity on the face of the earth." What is this approach? He denies the Trinity. He calls Mormons brothers and sisters. He denies that Christ is still the God-man. He denies the final judgement, physical resurrection, and second coming of Christ. He denies that the New Testament commands regarding church order, authority, etc. are relevant any longer. And, sadly, more. Shawn came out of Mormonism and for years was known as an "Evangelical" who reached Mormons. He has fallen into apostasy and now denies all the biblical, orthodox, and historical definitions of the Christian faith. Tell someone!

Live from the Mecca of Mormonism, SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH This is Heart of the Matter, (BEAT) Where we try and get all people to walk toward the love of Jesus Christ.  And I am Shawn McCraney, your host.  Let's have a prayer.  PRAYER  Tonight, the fourth and final part of Hear Me Out – Next week we will get into our direct discussions about the Mormon institution and the people thereof.  Listen – Seth has put the audio version of our book, Knife to a Gunfight on Youtube in segments by chapter.  If you really want to understand the mass of thought behind the philosophy and thinking behind Subjective Christianity take a few minutes and listen to this book.  Some chapters take as long as 20 plus minutes and some are short as four or five minutes, but give it a go.  It's free, its informative, and I am personally really proud of the information and insights the book brings to seekers of God through Christ.  Knife to a Gunfight – in AUDIO form – chapter by chapter – just go to Heart of the Matter with Shawn McCraney on YouTube.  And while you are there take the time to subscribe to our channel.  We are going to start to unleash new interviews mid-week in addition to our Tuesday Night live programs and by subscribing you will get immediate notification of their release.  Finally, check us out on  Instagram Twitter Facebook  And join us on Sunday – Live or anytime through our archives - as we teach through the Bible Verse by Verse.  Again – all free, easily accessible – and informative.  Finally, this coming Sunday at the HOTM Church/Studio here in Murray Utah we are having our annual Open water Baptism at 11:30 (after our Milk gathering).  Come one come all.    In parts 1 – 3 presented these past three weeks we have tried to lay out for you a biblical world-view of all things Christian.  In so doing I have said  ●       Material religion was done away with by God himself once he destroyed Jerusalem and over a million Jews, their Genealogies, their temple, their priesthoods, and the Law in 70AD, which was the end of “the world” when Jesus came back and took His pure church/bride. ●       That as a result Hell (which was once a reality) has been cast into the Lake of Fire, along with Satan, that God is now “all in all,” that a spiritual resurrection has been taking place (for every individual who has died since that time) and that all people (have been saved from the former place called hell) and go to a heavenly realm as a result. ●       We maintain that the faith shifted from being materially based (in brick and mortar, with men and their authoritai and traditions, and their interpretations of God's laws written in ink) to a faith governed by the Spirit, where God writes His laws on the hearts and minds of those who are His, making the faith subjectively understood by every individual and not objectively demanded by institution.  This stuff is new to some of you but was not created by me – it was created by God and is directly presented in the narrative we call the Bible – if you have eyes to see.  And most do not – which is unfortunate – because it just leaves them in the bondage of Man (which has proven to be a fail) instead of being free to love all with the liberty of the Spirit.  Also unfortunate is that what I have presented in the past three weeks tends to lead to some really poor assumptions.  I mean, when a person says that God has saved everyone to heaven, that statement, in the minds and hearts of most people, gets translated to something called Universalism or the notion that everyone is the same and all go to the same location in heaven after this life – no matter what they believed or did.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Nevertheless, even those people who fancy themselves as “thinkers” (even amateur “scholars”) believe that this is what I am saying or teaching!   I mean, listen to what a critic named Isaac sent me a few weeks ago on this very topic, saying:  “If the whole world is saved then quit what you're doing. You are wasting your time getting attacked by LDS and real Christians for nothing. Better to resign from ministry altogether.”  The assumptions in Isaacs email are very sad.  Listen to them again:  “If (or since) the whole world is SAVED then QUITE what I you are doing?”  The assumption made by Isaac is that being saved (from hell to heaven) is all that matters for human kind!  This view is completely out of harmony with the scripture!  There is so, so, so much more that God intends for those who receive His Son by faith in this life – and herein lies the fail in the thinking of men like Isaac, who appears to assume that:  “I am wasting my time getting attacked for nothing and it would be best to resign from ministry all together!”  You see to Isaac, there is no reason under the sun to have a ministry that  Reaches out to others with the message of the Great News or challenges institutional religion  Or teaches through the Bible verse by verse  If in fact God has saved the world in and through His Son.  What is the point of sharing Jesus, says the thought, “If He has already come back and taken His bride?”  What is the point in sharing Jesus if hell and Satan have been defeated, if God has accomplished everything through His Son? And so on and so on.  I would like to use my fourth and final part tonight to explain why outreach, and ministry, and teaching the Word to believers remains essential to God's Plan for human beings today and has been essential for nearly 2000 years even though God has saved the world.  Please hear me out one . . . last . . . time.  So after proving through the scripture last week that God has saved the whole world through the work of His Son – which is the only real definition of the Good News that I can accept in light of a Good God who is omnipotent and loving, why would and does this ministry continue to do what it does in reaching, teaching and trying to bring people to faith AND to help them grow IN the faith once received?  Let's begin by reading the familiar description of Jesus (and His Kingdom) described in Isaiah 9:6-7.  I am going to take the liberty to add “emphasis” to the part that applies to our topic tonight where Isaiah wrote speaking of Jesus and says:  6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.  Did you catch it?  That speaking of His Kingdom (which Jesus plainly said to Pilate when He was on earth was “NOT of this WORLD) “there would be no end.”  Of the INCREASE of His GOVERNMENT over HIS KINGDOM (which is NOT of this world) there will be no end!  His Kingdom (which again, is NOT of this world) is “ever increasing” and will eternally continue to increase.  In what manner will His Kingdom ever increase by?  By people joining it.  People coming to faith and people bearing fruits of love.  By God writing His laws on the minds and hearts of more and more people who come to him by faith.  These will forever continue to increase and to fill that Kingdom of Christ's which is NOT of this world.  Where is this Kingdom?  It's headquarters? And of what does it consist?   We know that the former Kingdom was material and centralized in Jerusalem in Israel.  It had a basis in what I see as material affectations.  It was based in genealogies and priesthood and Laws written in stone and ink.  In dress codes and tithes and dietary laws and animals slaughtered for their blood.  And it was completely destroyed as promised as a means to bring in an entirely new Kingdom.  With a New Jerusalem – NEW.  She is not of this earth.  In fact Paul says in Galatians:  Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.  The New Jerusalem is Headquartered in heaven – where God and His Christ reign over all things.  In fact, Revelation describes her, this NEW Jerusalem, as the place where God and Christ dwell.  It describes her as a city of Light (but without a sun to illuminate her), and it describes her as having walls surrounding, and gates open day and night, and with inhabitants consisting of the family of God so constituted by faith in His Son.  And in the face of these biblical descriptions we are able to reasonably assign “the world which has been saved by Christ's finished work from hell to heaven” to one of two heavenly destinations –  Those who live inside the walls of the New Jerusalem where God and Christ dwell and those who live outside the walls of the New Jerusalem   . . . where they don't.  Scripture calls the first group “the Sons and Daughters of God.”  We will call the other group, God's creations, who have all been saved from sin and the grave but lived without faith in His Son or the love that proves that God has written on their hearts.  As a side note, my brother Erik who is an expert on Near Death Experiences told me that many people describe in their NDE's as both seeing a bright city in the heavens and having an earnest desire to get to it.  So while all of God creations have been saved from hell to heaven through the finished work of Christ, only those who are His by faith and possess its accompanying “agape love” will inhabit the New Jerusalem where God and Christ dwell.  The rest don't seem to care – which is the exact scene we see here on earth in mortality.  But to those who do care, and want to be in the presence of God and Christ, the difference between the two locations – at least in my mind – is a stark as night and day – and herein lies the reasons why we continue to do ministry.  First, to help inform all who are interested in truth to understand the Good News by and through faith in His Son, which becomes the gateway to becoming God's Son's and Daughters God and therefore inhabitants of His Kingdom both here and on high.  Second, we do ministry is to help emancipate all people from the chains of religious, spiritual and material bondage place upon them in this world, which will ultimately serve to set them free and once free, to love as God loves, and  Third, we exist to try and illustrate, educate and instruct any and all believers everywhere what it looks like to love as the Son's and Daughters of God.  We do these things because His Kingdom is ever-increasing, with true believers coming into it as God writes His laws on their hearts and minds due to faith.  This explanation gives meaning to the last verse we read last week, where Paul “the laboring apostle,” said in 1st Timothy 4:10  “For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe.”  Again, in this very verse, we discover that when it comes to “the living God” there exists a difference between the masses who have been saved from sin and death – from hell to heaven – by the finished work of His Son and those that choose to look to that same Son and believe on him.   Its a massive difference which begins here in this life and continues on forevermore into the next.  God LOVES all. God blesses all. God took care of all by removing the effects of Sin and Death through the works of His only Son.  But the freedom, and light, and love and power, and liberation He gives to those who choose a relationship with Him here, and carries on there at the other side???  Like I said, the differences are “night and day.”  So, the salvation part of the world is complete – salvation from hell – all of God's creations are beneficiaries of that in that all receive a resurrected spiritual body at death given them by God according to His own good pleasure and enter the heavenly realms.  We proved that through scripture last week.  But amidst the inhabitants of this world, God by the Spirit, through the finished work of His Son, is seeking for those who choose to seek Him in Spirit and Truth.  These are His family and they are very different beings in the heart from merely being His creations.  They are of all races and creeds, both genders, all lifestyles and personal make-ups.  They sort of sink to the bottom of the glass of humanity due to humility and selflessness.  They yearn and talk to God from wherever they are at.  They're genuine, never feigning or hypocritical, and they operate by His love.  Some are trapped in the shackles of religious bondage from their youth, others have ideas about God that are errant.  Some have sinful thorns in their sides.  But boy are they people of faith, and people who love.  These are the grand realization of God's purpose in saving the human race – to have some freely choose to find Him and live according His ways over their own.  I've seen them in the Mormon church.  And in orthodoxy.  I know them by their fruit as Catholics, and as Hindu's and Muslims – all won by Christ – all people of light and love.  These are the folks the Heart of the Matter ministry exists for because they are the Sons and Daughters of God.  Oh, I've met you religionists out there.  You dogmatists, you orthodox demanders of conformity, you judges of men.  And I receive you as you choose to be – that is required.   But from what I can tell you are not Sons or Daughters  - you just don't love as He loved.   You love yourselves, you love your religions, you love this world and all that comes with it – but you don't love others. You have yet to let the power of God overwhelm your will and ways and to drop your biased opinions of the rest of the world in the sand.  Sons and Daughters love – it is by this love that they are known.  So, let me wrap tonight up by touching on some biblical presentations about Son's and Daughters of God – as a means to set the stage for the remainder of our shows for the year.  First of all, there is a major difference both in scripture (and in the Greek mindset) between a babe and a Son or Daughter.  Paul alludes to this in Galatians 4 when he writes:  1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child (or a babe, and infant) differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all (in terms of his future calling); 2 But (he or she) is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children (still immature babes), were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.  The idea here is that “until God the father appoints the time,” those who are infants and babes will remain in bondage to the things of this world, but when we receive the adoption of Sons and Daughters, we are freed as heirs and Sons and Daughters of God through Christ.  To receive Christ by faith places all believers in the category of babes, so while certainly Kingdom bound, we have not matured and are therefore incapable of bearing fruit the same way a new branch on a fruit tree is incapable of bearing fruit.  It requires spiritual maturity which comes by faith and love for God.  God's overall goal, for His babes and children, for all of His Son's and Daughters, is for them to mature to the point where they bear fruit, and that fruit is Agape love in all of its biblical descriptions.  Conversion alone, while the first step in that direction, is not the goal, anymore than the goal of a human life is to experience birth – it is only the first, albeit an important one, in the phases of human development.  This is why John, speaking of becoming Son's and Daughters – becoming – writes, and speaking of Jesus, says (John 1:11-13):  11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, (there is the faith part) to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  See, unlike all those in the world who have been saved from sin and death, believers are given “the power” to become the Son's and Daughters of God.  It's a choice whether they use and appeal to that power or not and it is a process that the unregenerated “creatures of God” do not undergo – but one that all of His Son's and Daughters do and will.  This process, not by any stretch of the imagination is comfortable or conforming to the ways and will of the flesh.  It is insufferable, an alienation from the world, and wars against human will and flesh at every turn.  Therefore, it is only received and embrace by believers who honestly love God and want Him in their lives and His Son as LORD.  Those who from the heart of hearts don't will not endure the trials and pains that what God has for all of His Son's and Daughters – guaranteed.  It's just too much to bear, too demanding, for someone who isn't truly dedicated from the heart to Him.  For this reason, and as an extension of this, another thing we can say about Son's and Daughters is that God chastens  (corrects -allows them) to undergo suffering.  The writer of Hebrews expresses this really well in chapter 12 saying:  Hebrew 12:5 And have ye forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, ”My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.” 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.  11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.  This chastening is likened to suffering in scriptures.  See, Son's and Daughters of God, like God's only begotten Son, suffer in this world.  They willingly submit themselves to suffering here.  This is why Paul wrote in Romans 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  Are you beginning to see the difference between those in and of the world whom God saved from hell to heaven through His Son and those who choose to be His Son's and Daughters by faith?  The latter are given the power by God TO BECOME something those saved from hell are not – literal members of God's Family who will dwell with Him.  And as a means to help His children grow God chastens them, and they suffer in this life. In parts 1 – 3 these past three weeks we have tried to lay out for you the world-view we have to all things Christian.  In so doing I have said  ●       Material religion was done away with by God himself once he destroyed Jerusalem, over a million Jews, their Genealogies, their temple, their priesthoods, and the Law in 70AD, which was the end of “the world” that Jesus came back to and took His pure bride. ●       That as a result Hell (which was once a reality) has been cast into the Lake of Fire, along with Satan, that God is all in all now, that the resurrection has been taking place with every individual who has died since 70AD and that all people (have been saved from the former place called hell) and now all go to heaven as a result. ●       I have said that the faith shifted when Jesus returned in 70 AD for his bride being materially based (in brick and mortar, with men and their authoritai and traditions, and their interpretations of God's laws written in ink) to a faith governed by the Spirit, where God writes His laws on the hearts and minds of those who are His, making the faith subjectively understood and not objectively demanded.  This stuff is new to some of you but was not created by me – it was created by God and is directly presented in the narrative we call the Bible – if you have eyes to see.  And most do not – which is okay – but it just leaves them in the bondage of Man instead of free to love with the liberty of the Spirit, warring with others, hating even more, and thinking wrongly about the Living God and His Son.  The unfortunate result of this stance I have shared with you is it leads to some really poor assumptions.  I mean, when a person says that God has saved everyone to heaven, that statement, in the minds and hearts of most people, gets translated to something called Universalism or the notion that everyone is the same and all go to the same location in heaven after this life – no matter what they believed or did.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Nevertheless, even those people who fancy themselves as “thinkers” (or even amateur “scholars”) believe that this is what I am saying!   I mean, listen to what a critic named Isaac sent me a few weeks ago on this very topic, saying:  “If the whole world is saved then quit what you're doing. You are wasting your time getting attacked by LDS and real Christians for nothing. Better to resign from ministry altogether.”  Did you hear the assumptions in this?  “If (or since) the whole world is SAVED then QUITE what I am doing?”  The assumption made is being saved (from hell to heaven) is the end all in scripture for human kind!  That is so utterly false and out of harmony with the scripture!  There is so, so, so much more that God intends for those who receive His Son by faith – and this is the fail in the thinking of men like Isaac, who missing this point, myopically assumes that:  “I am wasting my time getting attacked for nothing and it would be best to resign from ministry all together!”  To Isaac, there is no reason under the sun to have a ministry that  Reaches out to others with the message of the Great News Or challenges institutional religion  Or teaches through the Bible verse by verse  If in fact God has saved the world in and through His Son.  Some have trouble with the purpose and hope of reaching and teaching and sharing Jesus  If He has already come back and taken His bride.  Others have the same problem if hell and satan have been defeated.  To all of these people there just doesn't seem to be any reason at all for reaching out to those who have yet to meet Jesus, or teaching others who believe in him IF these things are fulfilled and complete.  And so, I want to use my final part tonight to explain why outreach, and ministry, and teaching the Word to believers remains essential to God's Plan for human beings.  So after proving through the scripture last week that God has saved the whole world through the work of His Son – which is the only real definition of the Good News that I can accept in light of a Good God who is omnipotent and loving, why would this ministry continue to do what it does in reaching, teaching and trying to bring people to faith AND to help them grow IN the faith once received?  Let's begin by reading the familiar description of Jesus and His Kingdom in Isaiah 9:6-7 and I am going to emphasize the part of interest to our topic tonight where it says, speaking of Jesus:  6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.  Did you catch it?  That speaking of His Kingdom (which Jesus plainly said when He was on earth is NOT of this WORLD) “that of the increase of His Governmentand peace that shall be no end.”  Of the INCREASE of His GOVERNMENT over HIS KINGDOM (which is NOT of this world) there will be not end!  His Kingdom (which again, is NOT of this world) is “ever increasing” and will eternally continue to increase for it will never end.  And this leads us to ask:  With what will His Kingdom ever increase with?  People.  People of faith.  People who love.  People whom God has written on their hearts.  They will forever increase without end and fill that Kingdom of Christ's which is NOT of this world.  Where is this Kingdom?  Of what does it consist?  The former Kingdom was material and centralized in Jerusalem.  It had a basis in material affectations.  It was based in genealogies and priesthood and Laws written in stone and ink.  And it was destroyed.  But God created a New Jerusalem – NEW.  She is not of this earth and she is our mother, or as Paul says in Galatians about her:  Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.  Revelation describes her, this NEW Jerusalem, as the place where God and Christ dwell.  It describes her as a city of Light (but without a sun to illuminate her), and it describes her as having walls surrounding, and gates open day and night, and with inhabitants consisting of the family of God by faith in His Son.  In the face of all of this we are able to reasonably divide “all those who have been saved by Christ's finished work from hell to heaven” into two broad geographies or locations or categories – the first group we will label “the Sons and Daughters of God” – His actual family – and they live inside the New Jerusalem after this life, with their resurrected bodies of light.  The other group, God's creations, who have all been saved from sin and the grave but without faith in His Son or the love that proves that God has written on their hearts, will all live outside the city walls in the resurrected bodies that God has given them according to His good pleasure.  As a side note, my brother Erik who is an expert on Near Death Experiences told me that many people describe in their NDE's both seeing a city and having an earnest desire to get to it.  In summary, while all of God creations have been saved from hell to heaven through the finished work of Christ, only those who are His by faith and its accompanying agape love will inhabit the New Jerusalem, with God and Christ therein.  The difference between the two – at least in my mind – is a vast as night and day – and herein lies the reason why we continue to do ministry.  First, to help inform all who are interested in truth to understand the Good News by and through faith in His Son, which becomes the gateway to becoming God's Son's and Daughters God and therefore inhabitants of His Kingdom both here and on high.  Our second reason we do ministry is to help emancipate all people from the chains of religious, spiritual and material bondage place upon them in this world, will will ultimately serve to set them free and once free, to love as God desires, and  Third, we exist to help illustrate, educate and instruct any and all believers everywhere what it looks like to love as Son's and Daughters of God.  We do these things because His Kingdom is ever-increasing, and never-ending with true believers coming into it as God writes His laws on their hearts and minds.  This explanation gives meaning to the last verse we read last week, where Paul the laboring apostle said in 1st Timothy 4:10  “For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe.”  In this verse we discover that when it comes to “the living God” there exists a difference between the masses who have been saved from sin and death – from hell to heaven - and those that believe on him.  A massive difference which begins here in this life and continues on forevermore into the next.  God LOVES all. God blesses all. God took care of all by removing the effects of Sin and Death through the works of His only Son.  But the freedom, and light, and love and power, and liberation He gives to those who choose a relationship with Him here, and carries on there at the other side???  Like I said, “night and day.”  So, the salvation part of the world is complete – salvation from hell – all of God's creations are beneficiaries of that in that all receive a resurrected spiritual body at death given them by God according to His own good pleasure and enter the heavenly realms.  We proved that through scripture last week.  But amidst the inhabitants of this world, God by the Spirit, through the finished work of His Son, is seeking for those who seek Him in Spirit and Truth.  These are His and they are very different beings in the heart from His creations.  They are of all races and creeds, both genders, all lifestyles and personal make-ups.  They sort of sink to the bottom of the glass in humility and selflessness.  They yearn and talk to God from wherever they are at.  They're genuine, never feigning or hypocritical, and they long and do love.  Some are trapped in the shackles of religious bondage from their youth, others have ideas about God that are errant.  But they are people of faith, and definitely people who love like Jesus loved.  They are the grand realization of God's purpose in saving the human race – to have some choose Him and His ways over their own.  I've seen them in the Mormon church.  And in orthodoxy.  I know them by their fruit as Catholics, and as Hindu's and Muslims.  The light and love of God eminates from their very person.  These are the folks Heart of the Matter exists for.  We will continue to interview people about their lives and troubles and causes – but we do that to illustrate how to engage with the world as Children of God.  We will focus on the LDS institution and the ways it burdens its membership placing them in bondage.  But in the end, we are seeking to know and speak to those of you out there who are His – God's – in Spirit, and Truth, and in love – irrespective of religion.  Oh, I've met you religionists out there.  You dogmatists, you orthodox demanders of conformity, you judges of men.  I embrace you as you are – but from what I can tell you are not Sons or Daughters  - you just don't love.  You have yet to let the power of God overwhelm your will and ways and to drop your biased opinions of the rest of the world.  Sons and Daughters have and do.  See, it's by this love that they are known.  So, let me wrap tonight up by touching on some biblical presentations about Son's and Daughters of God – as a means to set the stage for the remainder of our shows for the year.  First of all, there is a major difference both in scripture and in Greek between a babe in Christ, and a Son or Daughter. 3 Even so we, when we were children (still immature), were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.  The idea there is that until God the father appoints the time those who are his infants and babes remain in bondage to the things of this world, but when we receive the adoption of Sons and Daughters, we are freed as heirs and Sons and Daughters of God through Christ  To receive Christ by faith places all believers in the category of babes, so while certainly Kingdom bound, we have not matured and are therefore incapable of bearing fruit the same way a new branch on a fruit tree is incapable of bearing fruit.  God's overall goal, for His children, His Son's and Daughters, is for us to mature to the point where we bear fruit, and that fruit is Agape love in all of its descriptions.  Conversion alone, while the first step in that direction, is not the goal, anymore than the goal of human development is birth – it is only the first, albeit important one.  This is why John, speaking of becoming Son's and Daughters – becoming – writes, speaking of Jesus: (John 1:11-13):  11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  See unlike all those in the world saved from sin and death, Sons and Daughters of God are given “the power” to become the Son's and Daughters of God.  That's a process that the creatures of God do not undergo – but His Son's and Daughters do.  And it is not, by any stretch of the imagination comfortable or conforming to the ways and will of the flesh.  It is only the result of people who honestly love God and want Him in their lives and His Son as LORD.  Those who do not from the heart will not endure what God has for His Son's and Daughters – guaranteed.  Its too much to bear in the life of someone who isn't dedicated from the heart to Him.  For this reason, another thing we can say about Son's and Daughters is God chastens (corrects -allows them) to undergo suffering. They submit themselves to suffering here.  This is why Paul wrote in Romans 8:13-17  Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 ¶ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  Are you beginning to see the difference between God's creations (whom He saved from hell to heaven through His Son) and those who choose to be His Son's and Daughters by faith?  The latter are given the power by God TO BECOME something those saved from hell are not – literal members of God's Family who will dwell with Him in His Kingdom above.  And as a means to help His children grow so as to BEAR fruit God chastens them, and they endure suffering in this life.  |  Suffer what?  Injustices – which they forgive.  Enemies.  Whom they love.  Worldly impoverishments.  Which they trade for treasures above.  Longsuffering.  Which they exchange for impatience.  Humility which they trade in for hubris and pride.  The Spirit – over the flesh.  God's will over self will.  And the list goes on and on and on but essentially, we can size the things the children of God embrace to the ways of God's only begotten Son – they live like Him, love like Him, and place their will on the altar as He did.  That only makes sense, right?  If God's only human Son lived a certain way, then the Son's and Daughters of God would follow right on in behind Him.  This suffering is summarized in 2nd Corinthians 6:17 where Paul writes:   Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.  We know that Sons and daughters are led by the Spirit of God, as Romans 8:14 says  “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”  And what is the fruit of that Spirit?  Love.  I mean, doesn't scripture say about him that “he learned obedience by the things he suffered?” It does.  Hebrews 5:8.  So God seeks for all who are His – His Sons and Daughters - to love (as He is love).  The children of this world love themselves, they love the world, they love all that is in it.  But God's children personally suffer in pursuit of loving Him and others ahead of themselves.   In this we see that God does not just call people to believe.  There is a purpose, shall we say, “a hope” that God even has in calling people to receive and believe on His Son.  In Ephesians 1:18 Paul tells the believers that he has been praying for them that  the eyes of their understanding would be illuminated – to what end?  - He adds  “that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints”  There is no inheritance from God for non-family - for the people who die and have not become His Sons or Daughters.  There is a place for them that our loving God has prepared for them and their will, just like he prepared a place for all people here, but it's not an inheritance from him.  That is reserved for those who love Him.  Get it? (beat)  So how else are Son's and Daughters different from God's creations or even from babes in Christ according to scripture?  Oh, I know! They stop acting and thinking like babies and infants, dividing over everything under the sun, and they move on in Christian maturity to sharing, accepting, to putting away attitudes that create divisions between others.  In 1st Corinthians Paul wrote to the church there and said:  1st Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for presently there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?  Go back to our illustration on the board from week two which depicted apparent lovers of Christ bickering with each other in the name of God and Goodness.  In Hebrews chapter five the writer mentions a character named Melchisedec, then adds the following:  11 Of whom we have many things to say, that are hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.  14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.  Got all that?  Then in chapter 6 the writer continues and says (ready?)  Hebrews 6:1 Therefore, (as a result of everything I have said in chapter five before) leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.  Can you see what the writer of Hebrews is suggesting?  It's astounding!  He first tells them that they are milk-drinking babes unable to use the word rightfully and he tells them to learn to ingest strong meat, and then he says:  Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.  What perfection is he telling people to go on to?  The perfection of love!  What James calls the Royal Law.  Leave the doctrines and principles behind, milk drinking toddlers and GO ON TO PERFECT law of love.   This will ONLY happen – only – when we embrace the way God's has set up his  Kingdom while rejecting what men have designed via denoms and doctrines and divisions.  They are the product of mild drinkers. They encourage infighting.  Sons and Daughters rise above the din of material religion – and extend love and acceptance to all people, all the time.  Two more insights to the make-up of Sons and Daughters.  We know that, according to Philippians 2:15, they are lights to the world, as it says:  That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;  And finally, we know that as Son's and Daughters we are rarely known or observed by the world – the world has little need for what they offer.  This caused John to write in 1st John 3:1   Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.  Its what caused Paul to add in 2nd Corinthians 6:17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.  From here we move out to talk with our brothers and sisters that practice Mormonism.  Its not to malign them, or ridicule them, or tell them that they are going to hell.  Our ambition toward them – as it is our ambition toward all people on earth – is to  First, help inform all who are interested in truth of the Good News (which is by and through faith in His Son, the world has been saved and that by faith in Him, they can become Son's and Daughter's of God.  Second, to help emancipate all people (but especially the LDS) from the chains of religious, spiritual and material bondage. And  Third, to support, encourage, educate and illuminate Son's and Daughters everywhere in their walk with God.  I hope this makes some sense.   Let's open up the phone lines:  801 590-8413

Many want to be the next gurus and innovators of religious thought and social media has given a platform for such ones to become the next Maria and Charles Russell's, Ellen G White's, and Joseph Smiths. We see itt in the Mormon activist community with Shawn McCraney and Kathy and Lee Baker. We see it in the ex-JW activist community with Nathaniel Merrit, Mike and Kim, David Vose, and Daniel Halls. It is more common now with the rise of social media to develop a CULT LIKE following while hypocritically denouncing the cult they came from.

Continuing our theme of interviewing past guests from some of our most popular and impactful interviews, we interview Shawn McCraney who first appeared on Mormon Stories in February 2010to discuss his experience as a "Born-Again Mormon."  Shawn currently leads a church in Murray, Utah called C.A.M.P.U.S and has continued the ministry through a weekly streaming service, called Heart of the Matter. Shawn is widely known for his bold and sometimes bare-knuckled approach when comparing Mormonism to Christianity, and given his reputation as an animated and articulate speaker, this interview will keep you entertained and perhaps inspired. In this interview we cover: Part 1: Shawn provides a brief recap of his born-again experience, and then discusses the meteoric rise, and ultimately descent of his tv program Heart of the Matterafter he confronted local Utah Christian churches for focusing more on programs and tithes, and less on the Bible.  According to Shawn, these churches were providing the same "bondage" to people as the Mormon Church was. Part 2: This segment of the interview is a conversation focusing on Shawn's theology and beliefs, and Shawn provides a pitch for why a questioning Mormon or post-Mormon should seek the Jesus of the Bible Part 3: Shawn describes the "bondage" he sees when local churches focus more on "religion" and less on the teachings of Jesus.  After our interview with the South Mountain Community Church earlier this year, Shawn voiced concerns to Mormon Stories about our visit and in this segment, we engage in a respectful dialogue about churches such as SMCC and how they serve their congregants.

We were in Kauai when the alert came in that there was a ballistic missile heading for us and to take shelter. We talk about it. It was crazy. We also talk about the current popular news story about the Olympic doctor who sexually assaulted many, many young girls. We share the biblical perspective of penology and justice and we play a powerful clip of one of the victims sharing the Gospel with the man during the victim impact statement period. We also share some important news and play through a clip regarding Shawn McCraney's apostasy. Dr. James White is scheduled to debate Shawn on his own show (Heart of the Matter 2.0) on February 13th in Salt Lake. Shawn now denies the Trinity and has embraced Full Preterism. Very important stuff and we hope very helpful to you, our faithful friends and partners! No King but Christ!
