(Scripture Reference … Hebrews 6:13-17 13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. 17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: Hebrews 6:18-20 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Genesis 3:15 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Isaiah 7:14 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 9:6-7 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Hebrews 13:8 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Psalm 46:1 46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. John 14:1-6 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. I Corinthians 13:12 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. "Mechisedec's Superior Priesthood?" • Hebrews 7:4-10 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. After a brief review of who Melchisedec was from the first three verses, Elder Lowrance teaches that he was superior to Abraham in that Abraham paid tithes to him and he blessed Abraham. If Melchisedec is greater than Abraham, a priest after that same order is greater than Abraham as well. Therefore, Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest, is greater than Abraham. "David Flees from Saul" • 1st Samuel 19:1-23:5 - Brother Jonah Lowrance. David's two flights from Saul show a contrast between man's wisdom and God's blessing. The first time David runs he relies on the Lord and is protected. The second time he runs, he relies on his own wisdom and it is a disaster until he prays to God.
Ken and Jason teach that we have only one high priest after the order of Melchisedec
"The Trinity Proves Grace" Brother Jonah Lowrance. Since the doctrine of the Trinity proves that Jesus is God in the flesh, we have a better understanding of what salvation by grace truly means. Just as God spoke the universe into existence with His irresistible word, He speaks into the heart of all the elect and they live solely by His grace! "Who Is Mechisedec?" • Hebrews 7:1-3 - Elder Bryce Lowrance. Man is full of sin and therefore an offense to the Holy God of heaven. We need a mediator to reconcile us back to God. Jesus Christ is that mediator in the role of King/Priest. Today's message explores the fact that God put a man named Melchisedec in the Biblical record as a clear type of Christ to show that Jesus is an everlasting priest for us!

église AB Lausanne ; KJV Hebrews 7 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. ...

église AB Lausanne ; KJV Hebrews 5 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. ...

582 To The One Who Could Save Him From Death, A Guided Christian Meditation on Hebrews 5:5-7 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation Hebrews 5 NIV 5 In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.” 6 And he says in another place, “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” 7 During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. KJV 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Meditation: Gods power is not designed to elevate our egos but our souls. He seeks not to lift us to self-importance but to deliver us from the effects of sin and a heavy and broken heart. Jesus did not seek glory from God but to do Gods will in submission. One thing this passage beautifully shows that the thing that brings us value and glory is that God has called us as His children. You are Gods own child. You have a perfect loving God who is committed to lift you up above the struggle of this life to forever love with him in the many mansions he has prepared for His children. Yet that does not save us from a life which can drive us to longing petitions and tears. Jesus as the very Son of God was not saved from that despite the fact that God could have saved Him from it and did not. I find it interesting that it says the Father could save him from death. Someone short sighted might think that God failed to do that, since Jesus did, in fact die. Yet that death was not final. Death was not victorious. Jesus, due to his submission to God, overcame death. The Father did save His son from death. As God's child you will not suffer the eternal effects of death or sin. Thanks be to God for that gift. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Updates: Final Question: Final Thought: FIND ME ON: Download my free app: Recenter with Christ Website - ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Voicemail - (602) 888-3795 Email: jared@christianmeditationpodcast.com Apple Podcasts - Christian Meditation Podcast Facebook.com/christianmeditationpodcast Youtube.com/christianmeditaitonpodcast Twitter - @ChristianMedPod

'Twas not the Priesthood of Aaron which administers in outward ordinances, and the offering of sacrifices. Those holding the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood are kings and priests of the Most High God, holding the keys of power and blessings. In fact, that priesthood is a perfect law of theocracy, and stands as God to give laws to the people, administering endless lives to the sons and daughters of Adam.” (HC 5:555)

We have been talking about our Melchisedec priesthood in Christ. In our previous sessions, we defined who Melchizedek was. In Genesis 14, He appears to Abraham after the battle of the Kings, bringing Bread and Wine and Abraham revered him referred to him as Lord in Genesis 17 and in Hebrews chapters 5, 6. and 7 there are various references to him and he is indeed called King of righteousness without lineage without mother and father that is, Ancient of Days and a priest unto an endless life. In Genesis 14, he is referred to as priest of the most high god. Well, Melchizedek obviously was a spiritual being.Listen for more...Scripture referenced:Revelation 1:6John 3:3, 6:63Romans 8:29, 11:361 John 3:2-7, 4:17Act 17:28-30Ephesians 2:22, 4:4, 4:13-15Hebrews 7:16Matthew 12:371 Corinthians 4:20For more Free books, Sunday teachings and bible studies, or is you would like to make a love offering, please visit us at: https://www.walkinginpower.orgDr. Bern Zumpano is a Pastor and Teacher of the Word of God who has authored several books on Spirit-filled living through relationship with Jesus Christ and walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 7-8 1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. 4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. 5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: 6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. 8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. 9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. 10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. 11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. 20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest: 21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) 22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. 28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. Hebrews 7-8 1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. 3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. 4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. 6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Hebrews 6 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit. 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. 9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. 17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hebrews 7:1-3 1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Hebrews 5:5-14 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. 11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 6:1-3 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.
Hebrews 4:14-5:14 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. 1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
TITUS 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that [who] cannot lie, promised before the world began; TITUS 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. HEBREWS 1:10-12 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. HEBREWS 4:8-10 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered. HEBREWS 7:14-16 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. HEBREWS 7:21-25 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. HEBREWS 7:26-28 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Some today are stupefied that the Church of Jesus Christ is still waxing strong, greater and more effective than ever. I wonder what they thought! They had postulated and were so sure that the Church of Jesus Christ would be consumed by their nefarious plans, but they were wrong. Since the inception of the Church on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, it has outlived its detractors, its persecutors, its haters, its adversaries and all its enemies. It's impossible to destroy the Church. It'll never happen. Those who boast against the Church, apparently, have forgotten their history! When the Church was still young, in the Book of Acts, there were those who tried everything they could to stifle the Church, but still, the Church outlived them. It's therefore a vain imagination for anyone or group to consider that the Church will either go extinct or somehow fizzle out and become history. The dominion and dominance of the Church is an endless one. It reminds of the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's puzzling dream that no one could explain until God gave the interpretation to Daniel (Daniel 2). In Daniel's interpretation, all human structures beginning with the king as the head of gold and all the silver, bronze, iron, and all the iron mixed with clay, would be destroyed by a “stone cut without hands.” Then Daniel 2:44 says, “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” The stone that was cut out without hand was from God, and that stone destroyed the whole human structure and set up a kingdom, which the Bible says shall not be left to other people. The Church will never fall to the dominion or domination of another; at the end, it'll be standing strong, because the Church is forever. The Bible says about Jesus, the head of the Church, “And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Who is made…after the power of an endless life” (Hebrews 7:15-16). Hallelujah! PRAYER Dear Father, I rejoice, knowing that the Church of Jesus Christ continues to wax stronger and stronger, marching on in glory. Thank you for the boldness of your children to preach your Word, and the revelation of your truth granted them to live triumphantly, always, in Jesus' Name. Amen. Do you believe that when Jesus Christ came to this earth, he completed the work of salvation? No, or is there something else we have to do or must do? Or do we have to go all the way back to the Old Testament? To find our way out of this mess? Or do we believe that the New Covenant, when Jesus Christ said, "I will make a new covenant," fulfilled the old covenant of ordinances? Now, as I frequently do, I'd like to distinguish between the four categories of Old Testament law. There were four distinct categories. The law of ordinances was ranked first. That is the law to which I am referring today. That law has been completely repealed.
I've been discussing the Order of Melchizedek, which is a very important topic in the Bible that has to do with the Lord Jesus Christ. There's a lot of truth about Melchizedek before Christ's time, before his bodily appearance on Earth, his birth, and so on. But now I want to talk about something that has become heresy in the church, and that heresy is people wishing to exalt the old city of Jerusalem. Melchizedek does not require Jerusalem's Old City. A third temple is unnecessary for Melchizedek. Nonetheless, many Christians today, particularly those associated with the charismatic movement, believe this. They've practically romanticized Jerusalem's old city. On television, you can see people preaching and going to the Wailing Wall and all that stuff, all in the name of attempting to make some kind of spiritual application of that old city. But, as you can see, the Melchizedek Order does not need that. Only the Levitical order required the old city of Jerusalem. And just Levi's command was required or required. A third temple, with additional animal sacrifices, was built today. And I'm going to try to be very explicit about the comparison between Levi and Melchizedek in our session today because we find it in the Old Testament in Second Chronicles, Chapter six, where Solomon is mentioned.
That is a big question concerning a lot of Bible students. Jesus Christ fulfills an office, a dual office, in the Book of Matthew Chapter 12. One of these days we will go back into the Old Testament and try to explain the order of Melchizedek. Now, that's a story within itself, but we're not going to go there today. We'll start in the New Testament. Jesus Christ proclaimed himself greater than all the Hebrew rituals of the Old Testament. The Pharisees in Jesus's day said, How dare you profane the Sabbath by letting your disciples eat the ears of corn on the Sabbath. And then he said, Right now you're looking at one that is greater than the temple. He said, One is greater.
There has been much debate in Christendom whether Melchisedec (or Melchizedek), king of Salem and Priest of the Most High God was merely a theophany, angel, or a legitimate priest in ancient days; some even say that he was Jesus Christ (better known as a Christophany). There are only three points in the Bible that mention the word "Melchisedec": Genesis 14:18-20, Psalm 110:4, and Hebrews 7. These three points in scripture, along with other extra-biblical resources (commentaries and multiple translations), tie together an argument as to whether Melchizedek was merely a theophany, an angel, a legitimate priest, or Jesus Christ Himself. The following content seeks to give a proper interpretation of Hebrews chapter seven and the character of Melchizedek by employing an Apostolic Hermeneutic. Historically Melchizedek was a legitimate priest, theologically he could not be a theophany or angel, and exegetically he serves as a typology of Christ (not the same as a Christophany). Background of the book of Hebrews will provide context to the verse or verses that support this view and different interpretations of fundamental principles from these verses. The actual argument will undoubtedly be whether the biblical and historical character Melchisedec was a legitimate priest in time or a theophany used by the writer of Hebrews to strengthen his message.
